The Sorceress, and her rise to power in Glabadia

Maybe most of them didn't understand her speech quite right ?, maybe most of them believed that Edea was talking in a "Yeah, this is going to be awesome parade and we are going to rock and roll and bring the party down " kinda sense, guess it's like Halloween or a Rock concert, you say/ mention terrible things but you don't mean the terrible things, you are just telling the people that you are going to enjoy a awesome ride/ experience..

Like for a example a Theme Park ride where it drops you down several feet from the ground and before it drops you, it says "1, 2, 3- get ready to visit the depths of Hell'' !
But your not really going to go to hell, your just going to drop really fast, really quickly.

Maybe the crowd thought that Edea was trying to *pump* up the crowd, and get the adrenaline starting the crowd before the parade actually begin...

The Fighting doesn't begin until after Irvine fires from above and fails, most people would of seen that shot and it would of caused panic and mayhem within the area, people would of started to worry knowing that there is a loose gunman in the section.
And when most of the time when people panic/ stress out massive fights begin..

That's not the tone of an acceptance of power speech though. It was like my country (The US) when we have our Presidential Inauguration speech. It can't really be compared to a theme park ride or anything like that, and nothing in her speech was to the effect of "let's rock n roll". It was more to the effect of "you are all stupid for cheering me. I'm going to bring death and destruction to you. This is the worst thing that can happen to you". There is no way a speech with that type of message would be received as a joke or anything but serious. That just doesn't make any sense.

I was thinking maybe somehow what she was saying to the crowd isn't exactly how they heard it. Like the words they heard were different somehow through her sorcery but because you were so close to her you could hear her real words. I don't think that really makes sense with the speech either though.

Maybe it was Social Commentary done by the game's creators? The fact that the audience blindly followed this clearly unhealthy and even abusive leader in such a time? Perhaps commenting on the idea that we as people will put blind faith in anyone who rises to power or whom we may fear? I honestly think the people went along with her because they were scared of her, similar to the way Kefka gained a cult following in VI after he began his rise to "God"-like status.

I imagine some of them might have actually been glad she killed Deling too, since he was a dictator...perhaps some actually believed it was a good change, you know from a fat evil dictator to a evil sorceress who might actually increase the power of Galbadia and Deling City.

The theme park ride was just a example of Edea's tone of speech during parade and how the audience *could* of gotten tricked into cheering into her speech, because we all know, they end up cheering [for some strange reason] was saying that the audience could of cheered on Edea because they could of thought something different from what she was actually saying during the time that the speech was said... Think that SE showing the crowd cheering , isn't game error and is showing players how easily people can be tricked into cheering for something by Government/ Political leader and it ends up being something horrible/ nasty from them in reality..

Nope. Wasn't saying that Edea's speech was something to laugh about, or the audience was finding it a bunch of fun and games, maybe the example used above was a bad one ?. What was meant to say was, maybe the crowd was cheering because they thought that Edea was trying to make the parade coming up more exciting, thrilling to the audience and maybe they thought that Edea's speech was trying to drill excitement into the crowd before the parade actually began.

Yeah, but Edea mentioned some really bad/ nasty comments in her speech and was even insulting everybody clearly in her speech. Believe they could of thought that it could of been a play-act, epsically when she picks up Deling and throws him across.
They could of thought that Edea was trying to make the parade more thrilling for the audience before the actual parade begins, the audience may of thought that it was a huge big show, before the parade.
:hmmm:
