Hey...
Tidus was OK character to me...but I never liked him as much as Zidane
His voice was good but that laugth scene...dear god =(
Well, on my time on this forum I've seen many, many negative comments about Tidus calling him everything including a "whiney little bitch" to a "wimp".
Something inside me makes me ask myself: is the poor kid really so bad?
Generally, when people complain about Tidus they bring up two things: that he whines too much and that James Arnold Taylor's voice acting is awful.
But this is something I just don't agree with. The only time Tidus openly complained was on the Al-Bhed ship and the only thing he said was that he was hungry. Tidus pretty much braved what was thrown at him.
Which brings me to this point. Wouldn't you be scared if you were thrown into something as difficult and dangerous as he was? I mean he was thrown not only into a new world but apparently a new time, where there a constant threat of destruction by this mysterious beast that turns out to be none other than his father. And yet people claim that he's a whiny bitch. Yes, he tended to be emotional at times, but with good reason. Who wouldn't be? Unless you were a stone. Tidus is one of the most human characters I've seen in FF, and very well developed too.
Plus he was the one who insisted in finding another way of defeating Sin. If it wasn't for that all of Spira would still be suffering and Yuna would be dead. The kid actually had balls. He could've said "Screw this, this is not my world and why do I need to save this Yuna chick". He was willing to sacrifice himself in order to save Spira and Yuna.
I genuinely like Tidus. But I also love making fun of him. And James Arnold Taylor was not an asset to this game.
How does he look like a girl? I don't see a swelled chest or him wearing a skirt. As for acting like one? I'm not sure if I should take offense to that or not...but I'll let it slide.I absolutely loathe Tidus, not only does he look like a little girl, he acts like one aswell.
He constantly complains? I'm currently playing FFX and I don't see how Tidus constantly complains. The only time he's complained that I've noticed is twice and that was when he was hungry. There are plenty of things that could have made him complain, but I didn't hear him once open his mouth and I'm a VERY observent person. He constantly complains about anything and everything, and gets the rest of the party into a fair amount of trouble along the way.
Of course he didn't, but he chose to because he had met Wakka and felt he was somebody he could trust. Also after he met Yuna, everything changed for him. He wasn't just going to hang out and play Blitzball somewhere. Besides, it was Auron who made Tidus come along. Even if Tidus wanted to stay, he wouldn't have had a choice considering Auron was fullfilling his promise to Jecht.I mean, Tidus didn't have to tag along with Yuna's party to Zanarkand, he could've played Blitzball and made a home in Spira.
Honestly, this was the first FF that ever had voice acting. James Arnold Taylor was put in a stressful place, having to read over atleast 200 lines easily, trying portray the emotions a young 17 year old male who didn't know where he was would. Sure there were certain points in the game where his voice sucked, others it wasn't so bad at all. His narrative parts were excellently done.Almost ALL of his battle scripts are either complaints or idiotic comments like "UH BE RIGHT BACK!"
Which leads me to my next point, his voice acting was HORRIBLE. I mean, fair enough it was the first FF to be voice acted, but the rest of the cast was excellent, why was Tidus not?
He's not? So being thrust out of your home into some unknown world wouldn't cause mental trauma to you? Not knowing anybody or anything about where you are? That would certainly cause me some distress and I think Tidus handled it a lot better than a lot of other people would. Yuna knew that she would be going to her death when she chose to become a Summoner. I don't see Yuna suffering through any mental trauma in the least. I fail to see how Tidus was flailing around and screaming like a madcase...He's not the one that's going through some serious mental trauma, as far as Yuna is concerned through most of the game, she's going to her death, but you don't see her flailing and screaming around like some kind of madcase.
