The Top 100 Final Fantasy characters OF ALL TIME!

I've counted up all those votes. And Sheechiibii, I'll check out the FFXIII forums at some point too. I've been a bit swamped lately with RL stuff, but I'll get on it as soon as I have a chance.

Yea 100 seems a bit much but it's cool. 1. Cloud - Personal reasons really. Even as a child, I saw a lot of myself in Cloud and still do. It's more like the confused mako poisoned Cloud before Aeris' death even happened and all. The constant flashbacks, pretending to be someone/something that he isn't and permanently adopting the gimmick. Similar mannerisms. 2. Squall - The characters mannerisms fit his personality ever so perfectly. Getting lost in thought, not letting anyone get too close in fear of being left alone by them and getting hurt again. Kingdom Hearts wasn't at all reflective of how he really is IMO. Despite all that though, he truly just wanted someone to love. 3. Ramza - Gotta love em'. Probably the most mentally stable Final Fantasy character. Always fought for what he believed in, regardless of whether or not he would be remembered for it. Didn't care for fame or glory. Didn't care to be a cocky showoff. He just did what had to be done and what he believed in. 4. Vivi - Innocent like a young boy, yet very powerful, deep and reflective. 5. Aeris - My favorite character to use magic with in the entire series. Sadly, I only get her for one disc which means that I don't get to cast Ultima with her, or Comet, KOTR, Bahamut Zero, etc. She is everything you'd want in a woman. Classy, fun, supportive, sweet, caring, and a beautiful face to top it all off. 6. Sephiroth - The man is the ultimate villain. Who was more evil? Well, you could make cases for them all, but Sephiroth really wanted to just tear you down mentally as well as physically. He wanted to destroy your very psyche and rip your heart out to then feed it to Jenova. Ok, maybe not all that, but the man defined the word sadistic. 7. Tidus - Just overall great balance. He has a lonely side which is for very good reason seeing as how he's alone in Spira from the start, not knowing anyone. He's also fun and isn't such a downer to be around like some of the other characters on this list might be. 8. Bugenhagen - Man, you don't see him being talked about much. Bugenhagen was awesome! Full of wisdom and taught you so much. Ho ho hooo! He's like the grandfather that everyone wishes they had. 9. Kuja - I look at him as an evil intellectual. The epitome of a selfish prick, wants ALL for himself and everyone else to suffer. Has one of my favorite theme musics as well 10. Blank - I'm sure i'm not the only one that has ever said this. I wish we could play as Blank! He was great, and you just get excited in both of his saves during the game. Evil Forest and Alexandria Castle where he saves our asses. 11. Zidane - He's one of the more stable guys I think. He stays level headed throughout most of the game, with the exception of that one time where he finally found out about himself, which was also a cool scene. Overall good balance, much like Tidus and Ramze. 12. Barret - There ain't no gettin' offa this train we're on. One of my favorite quotes in the entire series and for that Barret deserves a spot. That quote can be said about every single Final Fantasy game.

I think theres not enough games to make a top 100 so ill just put top 10

For those saying 100 is too many, I have practically finished the write-ups for OVER 100 characters that have either made the list, or are close enough that I'm preparing something for them in case they do make it. When you consider that the franchise has 14 main series games, plus dozens of sequels/spin-offs/side games, all with a new cast, it's no problem to come up with 100 characters.

Number of characters isnt the issue. Its the top 100 of all time. Meaning the not so memorable character will make it in. There simply arent enough.

Weeeeeeeeeelll,
I wouldn't be able to name my top 100 favorite characters :wacky: but, I'll list some of my faves from the series :monster:

1. Vivi-
It could be because IX is one of my favorites of the franchise, but most of my faves come from this one hur. When I first played, I had no idea what or better yet who Vivi was. Vivi had always intrigued me very much. Sure, most the time he was a scardey cat but hey, give the dude props. He spent his time trying to figure who he was and to me, I admired vi's. He had a lot of character and I could totally relate to Vivi. The fact that he accepted who he was at the end of the game was great c:

2 Zidane- He at first, annoyed the living crud outta me. :ffs:. but I grew to love this kid. His dialogue amused me, and I found him to be a funny character of the sorts. He liked to play hero a lot, but we all have that character in the game yeah? He was just always optimistic and full of life. He for sure gave the game its edge as far as characters go. :jess: I liked his relationships with the others he had, he was always nice to them ('cept Adelbert) and him an' the length he went for Garnet was very cute as well :yay:

3 Zell- When I first got into FF VIII, I automatically fell for this guy :). He's your typical shit head, but he was a shit head in a good way. He had that short-temper, ready to go kind-of personality which I found to be something I liked about him. He entertained me, and I really liked having him as a party member.

4. Yuna- I always loved her, from the start. Young. Innocent, sweet. great quality to her as a character. I loved playing through X and watching her accomplish her dream. She started to be more independent and strong which, I liked that growth in her. She's defiantly in the top character list for me :-)

5. Cloud- Like most, I hated his guts at first. I didn't understand why he was the way he was, and then I continued to play VII, and I grew fond of him. (VII was just a great game all around imo. ) I understood the story more and everything fit. He was a perfect mystery for me and I enjoyed figuring out who exactly he really is.

6- Balthier- Welll, it could be because I love his voice :megusta2:. haha but he was another cool character. My favorite from XII. He was smart, witty, funny and damn right a badass. :spaz:. I was always interested in him and honestly I had a bit of a game crush on the guy xD.

Well, its not really about whether a certain number of characters can be listed or not, or whether you can come up with them or not. A top 100 list is pretty much taking most of the main characters from every game and putting them in a list. Not much point to it. And not memorable or sensible.

Something memorable would be a Top 10 list of the best Final Fantasy characters of all time, a short competitive and well thought out list. You can't seriously consider a list this long to be taken seriously, you can make a top 100 list of the best RPG CHARACTERS of all time, but there are not enough games in the series to even begin justifying a list this long.

Auron
tumblr_lhcvumWlaB1qf539vo1_500.png

A legendary guardian badass whom I've spoken of countless times before. Formerly a protector of Yevon's temples, he once stood by the summoner Braska on his pilgrimage to defeat Sin alongside Jecht. Ten years after the High Summoner's sacrificial victory, Auron, now undead, finds himself carrying out a favour promised to both his former comrades; to watch over Jecht's son Tidus, and to protect the young Summoner Yuna, Braska's daughter. Auron refuses to finally rest until his good wills meet a successful end, with Tidus a grown man living his own story and seeing Yuna a triumphant Summoner. Don't fuck around.

Balthier Bunansa

Hello ladies. Look at your man, now back to Balthier. Now back to your man, now please, let's do keep the sights on Balthier. Sadly, your man isn't him. But if he stole an airship from the Archadian Empire and pirated Ivalice's skies with a souped-up engine and underglow lights, he might put on a good show of being him. Look down, now back up, where are you? In the Strahl's cockpit with the leading man yours sorely wishes he were. What's that in your hand? Back at Balthier, he has it. It's the Goddess' Magicite they swiped from the palace in Rabanastre. Oh, look again, darling, it's the wedding ring he nicked a few scenes later in the interest of a more dramatic story. Anything is possible when you're the leading man and not his supporting backup. He's a sky pirate.

Females

Ashelia B'nargin Dalmasca
tumblr_lfnwy5bkmk1qf539vo1_500.png

Knights, dragons, magic. The fantasy genre often takes many cues from fairy tales. Early on, the role of the princess was plucked directly from these stories; kidnapped or locked away, the fair maiden would be in need of rescue by the hero, having her occupy the role of love interest. However, as time went on, the idea of a female having an actual personality seemed more and more like a good one. That's where Ashe comes in. Unlike many princesses of games past, Ashe's softer side is rarely seen. She maintains a very stern and serious approach to her goal throughout the game, which is necessary considering the odds she faces. She is very aware of these odds, and thus lacks the naïveté of many other princess characters. She herself is forced into fleeing her kingdom after Archadia's invasion and the announcement of her suicide. But she also finds herself as the sole claimant to the Dalmascan throne, making it imperative that she work to reclaim it. She's not your every day video game princess, and she's sure as fuck no damsel in distress or pathetic waif-of-a-love-interest. She's not an over-sexualized femme fatale. Nor is she a spoiled brat or sheltered young girl. She's rebellious, and yet dignified. She will fuck you up.
