I was playing Crisis Core last night (again...I love Zack, shut up) and I realized what annoyed me SO much was when I was fighting against summons like Bahamut and Ifrit, that whenever they would use Hellfire or Mega Flare, it would give me this whole scene which would take a while and I'd get fed up with it. Sure, it was very cool at first, but Bahamut used Mega Flare like five times and I had to watch that five times which killed my patience.

Also, through the DMW I would get really annoyed if my characters didn't match up like I get Sephiroth then Cissnei, then Sephiroth again and I'm sitting there like, "WHY COULDN'T I GET TRIPLE SEPHIROTHS?! :rage:"

So yeah, those are two things that annoyed me about Crisis Core, but what about you?

The entire DMW system, since it was massively flawed. If they had removed the random factor from it, then it would have been a lot more enjoyable. But because it was random, you had no control over the battle and you pretty much just had to sit there and watch.

I liked Crisis Core, but I still have a million things to complain about it. Where do I start?

Firstly, those 300 odd SOLDIER missions. Only a few of them are interesting enough to do, and about 90% of them are the same copy and paste locations where it's simply kill the monsters, grab the treasure. Really, SE? You couldn't think of anything more interesting?

Secondly, the main storyline is really linear. It's usually just a straight line and locations are terribly straight forward. You also can't return to where you visited before (not that you would absolutely want to), but it saddens me still how much of a paint-by-numbers approach the game takes.

Thirdly, I felt the main storyline is rather short. I went through it all in under 30 hours with a few missions.

Fourthly, the slot wheels like DMW system. You don't get to stop the reel itself. The game randomly does it for you, which means you may waste a Limit Break used on an enemy that's just about to die.

Fifthly, I wanted more of a ZackxCissnei thing going on there! Cissnei keeps the relationship between them too professional!

Sixthly, there
isn't enough Reno and Rude
in it! :rage:

Err, I can go on, but I'll leave it at that.

Okay, I know I'm a bit slow on this...but when the DMW DOES pop up, does it reel on its own? Or do you have to repeatedly press X to get a row of the same character?

It does it on its own. I'd have preferred to be able to be able to manually stop the reel.

BUT- apparently if you kill a lot of enemies, a secret, hidden counter is built up increasing chances of getting 777- and a level up! :awesome:

Ah, thanks! No wonder...I kept pressing X and I was like "YAYYY ANOTHER ROW!!!" but...I guess this kinda crushed my hopes? :( I thought I was doing it all...*cries in the corner*. This just adds to another thing that annoys me then because I can't control it.

Hojo. I hated every line he spoke in the game. He was a scientist who went way too far and that really pissed me the eff off -_-

As for the DMW, I got what I wanted like all the time :awesome: Well.....odin never came, so I never saw his summon animation :sad3: That annoyed me, as I battled many monsters just to see it.

There were too many missions and they all seeme pointless aside from the rewards. They could have led to a awesome side boss or something :thehell:

Also, the game was too short. Even though everything that happened was as canon, they could have added some more stuff.

The DMW system really annoyed me one time.

I was fighting those 1000 Shinra troops mission (on Normal difficulty). It's not hard on Normal (it's quite easy actually), but just awfully time consuming. I received a Sephiroth Octoslash limit break (that hits only one target) while fighting a whole group of soldiers.

And then I received Odin (KOs everyone) when I was facing a single soldier that was dying. Not being able to control when to use Limit Breaks is something I was really irritated about. Hopefully they don't do it with Agito XIII.

I received Odin as well. Through those pointless missions, you get more characters added to your DMW because you've beat them and such. I think that's the only part that was useful about those missions.

Another thing that annoyed me was how Zack
died!
It makes me so ANGRYYY :rage: I got really attached to his character and at the end when you know...I was so upset.

He had to die to make the timeline make sense. If he never died, the compilation would be in chaos. We might have an entirely different Cloud and different events in FFVII.

I think my main gripe about CC was that it was too short. Yeah it's a PSP game, but c'mon! They had plenty of material. I did enjoy what I played through, but they could've expanded on so much and I would've loved every bit of it :ness:

I wanted more ZackxAerith moments myself. There were a few nice heart tugging ones, but I wanted more >.<

I really enjoyed the gameplay in this game so the main problems I had with it lied with the storyline.

Firstly, I was not a fan of the way the Nibelheim incident was redone. Seen as it was one of the key scenes of the original game I don't think it was appropriate to alter it (what with Genesis appearing and all).

Secondly I disliked the whole angel wing thing. To be honest I would have preferred both Angeal and Genesis to be strong but otherwise normal human beings.

Finally I would've liked to have seen more from the turks. Cissnei's appearances in the game should have been fleshed out more, during Crisis Core she seemed pretty pointless really.

To be honest, I was pretty glad when Crisis Core came out. I'd bought Dirge of Ceberus (sp?) six months before getting CC as a birthday present and that game absloutely killed me- not because it was particularly hard, but it was so just badly-made.
ANYHOO, sorry for that digresion. Crisis Core was pretty damn credible for a PSP 'lead-up' game. But some things *really* annoyed me to the max:

1) THAT FRIGGIN DMW WHEEL. The f*ck? I'd be in the middle of a really important battle, the MIGHTY UNCONTROLABLE DMW wheel would come up and NONE of the faces would match. But but BUT I'd be nearly finished against a menial boss, and it's then that the wheel comes up, matches all the characters and wastes a buttload of my materia on a boss that's nearly dead -facepalm-

2) The game was too short. While 'short'n'sweet' is all well and good, it meant that things started going wrong too early/too fast for Zack and his fellow SOLDIERs. They should've taken -some- time where everyone was in a good place and slowly built up the disaster. Yeah, yeah, CC's supposed to show Zack's tragic story blow-by-blow but there must've been some more happy times for such a happy person D:

3) I wanted Zack and Aerith's relationship to be explored more thoroughly. I'm probably going to be ripped a new one for saying this- I know it's a very trivial point. Yes, the scenes we do see between them are undeniably loving and sweet, yes, Zack does/says/thinks very affectionate things for Aerith and yes, it's implied that the two actually spend quite a lot of time with (or at least talking over the phone to) each other. But considering the only reason- and I really do mean only- that Zack went Midgar-way at all near the end of the game was to see Aerith again, it would've been nice to see these two together more often :*(

Fairly consensus complaints, really. With my own twist on them.

It was the randomness of the leveling that annoyed me, the rest I was ok with.

Not being able to escape easily, god that fucked me off, I never really bothered escaping but I really needed to in some of them 9 missions, and you just fing yourself runing into an invisible wall for ages while youre getting battered from behind

The story and all the extra plot holes it opened up

THE MISSIONS

ALL FUCKING 300 OF THEM

I first got into final fantasy by seeing this game, the most annoying part was the end, that character zack dies.this game brought me up to the whole franchise of final fantasy 7 after seeing zacks death.sephiroth use to annoy me and i use to think that he was the antagonist of the whole series lol

i hated the soldears at the end of the game y the hell do i try 2 kill them but only 1 is left and 3 off them apear above zack and shoot him dead y the hell is theat 4 and i apsolutly hated sepheroth y is it he can walk thro fire and not us

I do agree with the whole plot and story being too short. I wish they actually created more events that happened and slowly start off the story somewhere, rather than just have disasters happening over and over again. (Goodness...the characters need breaks too and I'm not talking about Costa del Sol). Also, another thing, seeing how I am a big Aerith fan, is their relationship. I wish they did explore it more because it would've been so cute ><.

I agree with that, Sabrina! :gonk:

These disasters seem to happen one after one nearly randomly and seem to appear just for the sake of being there. For example, Genesis copies appear in Costa Del Sol, then suddenly Junon is under attack straight afterwards, then afterwards, Sephiroth reports Zack of monster sightings in Midgar's slums.

As it was mentioned before, the game is a prequel, and therefore some events had to happen and were previously planned in order for the transition to FFVII to make sense. I agree. I didn't want that to happen, and I really wanted Cissnei, Rude and Reno to be successful in that crucial mission, but it was inevitable that a happy ending wouldn't be possible.
