Queen Brahne. To be truthful she isn't the most attractive, Final Fantasy female in history and has a history of being " greedy ". But we know that she's a good person, inside.

However even though, she isn't pure evil. She is still hated, and disliked by many fans. Was just thinking, if lady Brahne was more attractive, would she have a stronger fanbase, would fans feel sorry for her more ?..

We only see the dark and power- hungery side of Brahne, but we learn that before Kuja's appearance, she was a good kind hearted Queen. So this may sound kinda silly, but was just wondering if she had shinning blonde hair, hourglass figure, Tifa larged chest, and didn't have blue skin..

She would be liked more and forgiven more, by fans ?

An interesting question there.

Personally, I couldn't find any hate for her... So, to me, even if she were to look extremely pretty, beautiful, sexy, whatever, it doesn't make much difference.
To make things worse, she dies at a part during the game, to have a beauty die like this wouldn't be nice, i guess...

I like her the way she is (though not in THAT kind of way).
But I felt she was rather unique. Her being blue and ugly was pretty much an archetype evil mother/step-mother queen exagurated to the extent that she came across looking as if she was some sort of demon or dragon-hybrid.

That you find out she was really good didn't mess it for me. I did feel sorry for her, though I was left thinking just WHAT she was. Perhaps the blue-ness was just make-up, and that the rest of her was just deliberately ugly.

Maybe if she was portrayed as a more attractive queen it would have added to her maliciousness? as it stands people could perhaps sympathise with her more and see that she was seduced by the power that Kuja could offer her. And with the death of her husband I imagine she felt alone.

So I think maybe it was what they were looking for when designing brahne. Someone who people could relate to a bit more than a smouldering temptress.

I think her greed might be symbolised by her obesity and her unattractive appearance is tied to her ugly heart and intentions throughout the game - I bet she was meant to be slim before her husband died and she comfort-ate for the rest of her life. xD

Anyway, I'm not sure just how much people still have a grudge against her, as you seem to have suggested in your opening post. I'd say everyone thinks...rather neutrally of her.

I hated her in the beginning, I couldn't understand how she could do something that awful to her daughter... Then when her story was explained I felt sorry for her. She was deceived, her weakness used against her, and at last she lost everything and had to realize her mistakes, but without a chance to show us that, indeed, she could be a good person. I'd like to see a nicer side of her.

Also, I like her the way she is. I mean, I'm a bit sick of the "beautiful, evil and damned" villain, you could laugh becaus of her appearance but also fear her, it was a nice change. And I think that after the death of her husban she began to feel moe and more alone, maybe she couldn't get closer to Garnet, which I suppose would have helped her a lot, so she turned to powerlus instead. she's a sad and lonely character, and I think her being ugly makes it clearer for us.

I kind of felt sorry for Brahne but I didn't like the way she looked...she was too ugly, but I know not to judge a book by its cover...

She was just used by Kuja as we all know but I don't understand a few things about her like her having sadistic pleasure in summoning bahamut and having it destroy things...I don't think Kuja had anything to do with that.

really, at first I hated here, and yes because she is portrayed as a gluttoness witch that is only out for power.

but then, when I saw her death scene not long ago (I mean two days ago) i started to feel alot more sympathy for her.

so yea if she was a more easy on the eyes queen she would be liked more, i have no doubt. but really, that would change her character too much. really she was a beautiful character right at the end, because we learn of her good side.

plus garnets mourning over her helped her character along as well

plus it was that faggot kuja's fault anyway

I think FFIX already had a Sexy Ultra-Bitch bad guy in the form of Beatrix, so if they had made the Queen attractive too they would have had two similar characters.

Also, making her fat and ugly is showing her badly her greed has effected her life, and it is just an outer manifestation of her inner ugliness.

lol what race was brahnne meant to belong to anyway?
But i liked Brahnne in the sense that she made for a great baddie, the ones you love to hate, i love those guys. I think her ugliness was a reflection of what was inside her and if it isnt it made her look far more sinister. I wouldnt wanna see her changed.

I actually have this annoying question in my head about the queen from FFIX "What kind of blind idiot screw that monster? :gasp:". I actually thought she's a man before I start playing the game. Is she Garnet's mother?!

Its kind of hard to believe isn't it? She wasn't her biological mother though, no.

I never really gave two shits about the queen, to be quite honest. It's not that she was a bad or uninteresting character... but Kuja was just far more interesting. The beginning of the game really focuses more on the mystery of the black mages and not so much the Elephant Lady. By the time she really comes into full focus, Kuja has entered the scene... and your more interested in his actions than hers. I guess she just never really mattered as much as the people she shared the game with... not that she was bad on her own.

Hmm, I do not think it would have made much of a difference, she was just such an evil stuck up character, she looked the part. I wouldnt have changed a thing. If you make her attractive I do not think it would have changed how people feel about her.

I agree, its usaully the attractive charismatic types that are evil anyway. Atleast thats how it is in rpgs and movies cause they decieve and backstab the main characters.

I liked that Queen, she seemed cool ^^ I like the way she looked sure she wasn't attractive but that doesn't make everything, or atleast not to me >,> Those to guys that did her bidding though *Shudders* Creepy.....

It seems like the gaming industry is becoming more and more sexually-oriented. It sounds weird but you noticed how all the females have large chests and thongs etc and things are getting more about graphics now as well, people only care about what looks nice its the age old dispute.. take Vista vs XP.. xp's faster and more effiecent but Vista looks nicer and people will choose vista and so on and on.

because sex is good :elmo:

Anyway, I thought the queen was an ugly fatass bitch.

the end. :wacky:

She was about as interesting as Pokemon's team rocket to me, too. Just seemed like the only thing she did was (amazingly) run her fatass everywhere telling people to do shit :monster:

Well, the rest of the culture seems to think so as well, our culture itself is becoming more sexually-oriented, so it's not just the thoughts put into a few specific things such as video games.

I think it would have changed her presence. But she wouldn't have played her role as well.

A character can't just look good, she needs the presence that her character calls for. A large blue queen perfectly fits the role of someone seduced by greed. Even if she was a good person before, it still fits.

I would have been angry if they'd changed her. She needs to fit her role.

Personally I didn't hate Brahne, she was a decent character and she played her role well. She was more a tragic character than anything else, nothing to hate.
