So I assume everyone remembers the original with the madonna boobs and the cliff edge that she would never quite grab hold of. But for me it holds fond memories of the game and my question is thus:

Do you think the Tomb Raider franchise is dead?

For me personally I found alot of enjoyment from their latest game but I don't feel so enthused as I used to. I dunno why but its sorta lost its lustre for me yes the game was goodish but I didn't feel the same buzz as I did when playing the first game.

For me the franchise was dead ages ago, man I cant even remember the last time I played TombRaider, I had mixed feelings about the first game. played it like 10 years ago... never played it since...

Boobs doesnt make the game...

lol I never said boobs made a game XD

god that makes me feel old lol you saying ohhh 10 years ago and me there going yeah I remember that too.

really? I loved the first game I can play it from memory still I honestly at the time thought it was the dogs balls.

The worse part is it was more then 10 years ago hehe, but yeah at the time it was epic in a way, I dont remember a lot except opening some closed doors (prison?) red lights in that prison and very anoyying dogs!!! thats about it :(

Tomb Raider...ahh, so many great memories.

First played the first Tomb Raider at my uncle's house because he was the only person who I knew who owned a PlayStation at the time, it's such a nostalgic game for me, especially the mansion part! A really great adventure game, the controls and camera angles are a bit hard to get used to again when you play it today, but when you get over that, it's an extremely fun game. I loved the puzzles and traps, some were really annoying though, but they were really well designed, and kept the levels varied.

The first Tomb Raider was the best, because you were actually in tombs, in the games after that, you weren't really ever in an actual tomb, just other random places, but the other games are still fun to play.

I didn't like Angel of Darkness very much, everything about it just felt...lame.

Tomb Raider Anniversary is definitely worth getting, when I heard that a remake was being made of the very first Tomb Raider game, I was ecstatic, and got it a week or two after it was released, fantastic game and I can't reccomend it more.

Yeah thats how I felt I loved the puzzles but after the first one I thought they sorta jacked up the difficulty. I was only a kid when I played it and yeah there were bits that I struggled with but eventually I got the swing of things and I tried to play the others like I did the first with out a walk through and found it nearly impossible at times.

I have to agree with you there some of the other ones I am actually yet to compleate if I'm honest.

Angel of darkness was sorta the low point for me in the whole tomb raider gaming because I though it was plain stupid at that point and near on impossible to compleate.

yeah I was like that I honestly enjoyed it and they only changed some things yeah the levels were compleatly re designed but you sorta had a good idea where you stood with it.

To me it died with Angel of Darkness, that game was buggy as fuck man. The memories I have are of playing the game with my dad, he would play through and Id read the walkthrough lol. I loved the films and have couple figures. Even collected the comics! But Id say yeah, its died now. Sad cause they were awesome games.

yeah I have similar memories with my grandad ^_^

you should try the newest game things have improved quite alot.

Tomb Raider was one of the first video game names I have played when I was much younger. At the time, the idea of video games was still a novelty to me. I would sit next to my dad and make Lara run around her mansion or just kill her in the pool for fun. xD

I collected all 5 of the PSone installments. I definitely have fond memories of Tomb Raider 2. I don't know why - that is still the most memorable one to me. I was revisiting those games and I remember how stuck I would regularly be because I was awful at shooting some of the creatures and at solving puzzles. Fortunately I'm not as clueless as I was. When I was eight, I would always be horrified to see Lara fall onto spikes.

I agree - the franchise died the moment it hit the PS2. Angel of Darkness is clearly the worst. It played awfully. It was just buggy and they took away the enjoyment by making the controls seem deliberately awkward. I have never played the next upcoming games, although none of them have been that groundbreaking so I heard.

I just wonder what the spinoff game in the pipeline will be like. Being just a spinoff and not a real installment - it's not looking good for the franchise.

I suppose theres not much they can do with tomb raider though I mean there are only so many differant ways they can make a tomb look lol.

I didn't know there was a spin off in the pipes

ahaha, your right man. I guess they can make a tomb made out of skull's an bone's an creepy stuff in it. But i alway's did want to buy another copy of all the Tomb Raider game's from the first playstation. I never beat any of them as a kid tho, all i remember was makin Laura crawl around on her hand's and knee's around the mansion. :edd:

What part's are the best? im looking to get all the old psx game's an the remake on 360.

i remember printing pages and pages from an online walkthrough and just following it to a tee. was probably my first challenging single player game. the first one i ever actually beat was tomb raider chronicles. and about the series being dead, i dont think it is, its more on life support.
