Anyone think that FFI (Origins) is WAY too easy, even on normal mode? I've only played it a short way, but the monsters seem far easier to defeat than they did when I ran through it on the NES 10-15 years ago.

Example being the Marsh Cave. IIRC, the Marsh Cave was one of the hardest dungeons in the old NES version, but I ran through it last night without having to heal once! My party is F/Monk/WM/BM and they were only at LV10 (which was just because of saving Gil to buy equipment, no purposeful leveling up). So nothing special.

Also frustrating that boss battles are over in one or two rounds - I would actually like an epic battle where I have a chance to lose. It's not the boss offense that's too light, it's the lack of HP in my opinion. If Astos, let's say, had about 1,000 HP it would be a much fairer fight that would actually take some time and you could actually lose.

Thoughts anyone?

The marsh cave was the cave south of the Elf Kingdom correct? I remember barely making out it alive of that cave after completing whatever I was suppose to do.

If you don't use a walkthrough, and you don't use the berserk/haste/attack strategy, this game is quite tough. If you do (which I'm assuming you are), well, you really can't expect it to be that hard, because much of the challenge of the game is mindlessly searching for the next NPC you are supposed to in order to continue the quest.

After you beat the game, don't you unlock the original 8-Bit version? So, the remake is sort of like a warm up, a sample as to what is to come.

OK I'm backpedaling a bit - I played through the Ice Cavern about 10 times last night before I made it out alive (LV 21) - each time Dark Mages showed up, there were four of them, they attacked first, and used Fire3 to wipe out my party - anyone left was killed with Poison or Bolt3 on the next round.

I should note by "made it out alive" - only my Warrior was alive for much of the cave!

And yes, I am using a walkthrough - I guess I should stop complaining. That's just how I like to play my video games. LOL.

I have no idea - if so this would make my day. I've never read about it anywhere. I'll report back and let you know.

Using a walkthrough? Ah comon man. Just play the game straight. Only refer to a walkthrough when you are completely lost for about a year and just can't seem to find that special NPC.

I played all three version, and they do make it easier!
On Dawn of souls, on easy mode, you have like triple the amount of spells for ur Black mage 0.o

the ice cave is what i remember having a hard time with on the NES oh so many years ago. that's the cave with all the undead creatures and magic users, right?

Man, you are crazy. I had to give up playing this game because it was WAY too hard for me LOL.

Really? I had no problem going through the Ice Cavern. O wait, my characters were lv 35 at the time... >.>

Then on my 4 white mage party, the only issue was fighting the Evil Eye

No I beat both Easy and Normal modes, it doesnt unlock anything... and yeah it was a bit easy... I remember on the NES making it out of the Marsh Cave with one character barely clinging to their last breath running from every monster I came across...
