Too many forums

Perhaps what he meant is to layout the forums so that you can minimize the amount of scrolling. There are several ways this can be done.

Remove the links to each of the subforums, and link only to the main forum, but list the subforums in the descriptions.

Or, remove the link to the least populated subforums only, but keep the other ones.

Or, remove all the links to the subforums like in the first suggestion, but in the list of subforums in the description, make them links. I think there was an option for that for vBulletin.

I have a suggestion.

You caould add the sequal FFF sections as subforums for the game they are sequaling.

Creativity Inspiration and Opera House could be combined,

and what Sephiroth said.

I disagree because the forums layout is just fine and since this site is just a community forum to discuss all the Final Fantasy series, I think that would do just fine.

Eventually, you will get used to it, trust me. When I first created the forum and all, I even said the same thing about we are having too many forums. But then, a couple of days, I got used to it and knew where to post in and such.

Unless you have a good valid reason to reduce the number of forums and/or subforums, it will always be a no. Besides, why do you think we have a feature on the forum such as Subscriptions (click here for information). ;)

I guess that could potentially filter out the members who would be devoted to staying on FFF. Devoted enough to learn the layout.

I guess you could say an even bigger forum like ACF still has many sections and gets by, even with scrolling.

Well I believe it's always a good idea to have even more forums while you are running a huge forum. More posts, more participation and activity.

Saves you for looking for sections you want, so I don't see a problem.

Now that I see the real focus of this, I'm in agreement with my fellow mods. It does save time, looking through sections till you find the thread you want. It's a much more specific way to browse.

There was a study done recently in my university (interestingly enough, by a physics professor) about scrolling in browsers. Apparently, people are more inclined to read things if there's less scrolling involved. I guess to people, it's a bit of an annoyance, until you can get accustomed to seeing that same page all the time.

Gotta agree with this. The one thing that puts me off posting a lot is the insane amount of scrolling and clutter on the screen. It takes forever to find something, and most newcomers are not going to be patient enough to learn their way around. There really is no need for so many sub-forums when you could cut out or merge half of them.

Whereas more sub-forum can encourage more debate, it can only be detrimental if done to excess, and I think that's very much to case here.

Example: General Gaming would be fine with one page, instead of splitting it off into different consoles.

I got no problems with all the forums. We have some subforums, which is fine, because if we didn't have them, then we'd be in trouble. But I'm happy with them as they are. :)

Even if i'm new here, I actually find this layout well thought out. I
actually really love it. Thing is with me that I like to read alot, I mean
ALOT. So, I really see nothing wrong with it.

Of course new visitors will find trouble with the forums layout but once they stick up with the site, I'm sure they'll get used to it as most of us did in here.

nah the forums are fine IMO anyway...people who dont wanna scroll are just lazy people.

Im new here and everything is good. I like the variety of different forums y'know? I say it stays same, again IMO

I don't mind scrolling. I use a laptop, so all I have to do is maintain pressure and bam! I'm there. I also like the organized layout. It makes the forums look larger.

However the amount of forums might have an undesirable effect on the activity here in the near future. From what I can see, you want your forum to be unique apart from the other FF forums out there. This is understandable but....

It would help a lot of the FF series were bundled up in sub forums.

It depends which FF forums or sections you're talking about. Some sections might be a good idea to have them as sub-forums and some not but I still prefer to have them as they are now.
