Gil

Each time I play FF (any of them), I end up having a lot of gil near the end of the game. The problem is that there is nothing to buy at the end and the gil just useless.

Does it happen to everyone? If yes, do you like it? Hate it?

IMO it is a little annoying. Through most of the game I hardly have gil and usually can't afford all new available equipments.
But then, when I don't have anything to buy near the end of the game, I have a lot of gil and I just have nothing to do with it. The only two games in which it didn't happen are FFIX (auction) and FFX (paying 100,000 gil once or twice to Yojimbo).
I quite liked that, even though it was quite annoying that I can't do the auction as many times I want.
But that's the fun of having gil for me: to be annoyed when I don't have it, and to be happy when I do. If I always have it and can't waste it, it is just... not fun...

I always had loads of gil at the end and it always burned a hole in my virtual pocket. It didn't really matter to me though, I bought all the things that I needed and just got on with completing side quests and doing the extras. The 'buying of stuff' part of the game wasn't something I really cared about :P

I usually have TONS of gil at the end. It doesn't really bother me that much. If I can, I usually use all the extra gil to make my guys the best they can be.

That always happens to me! I'm like.. 'Oh, what am I supposed to do with this NOW? I have 99 of everything I need, already...'

It never really bothered me, I mean I didn't ever really buy anything anyway, because you find enough stuff along the way that you don't really need much of what's in the stores, except for things like the auction in FFIX, and those sorts. So yeah, I usually always ended up with an insane amount of gil, because I never bought anything, except for maybe a full inven. of potions that I never even used. xP

actually, i kinda like it.i always stock up before the final battle.mega potions,hi-potions,elixers etc.

The most annoying thing is that things like Elixirs and Mega Potions (which of course very useful) can't be bought in shops. In most FFs you can't even buy Ether.

So since it is impossible to buy the most useful items with gil, it is annoying...
Of course there are always exceptions like FFII in which you can buy both Elixir and Ether. That was great.

I had a serious problem with money when playing FFIV. I'd have way too much money, and no reason to spend it.

I have this problem with X & VIII mostly, all that dosh and nothing to spend it on. you can rack up millions and millions and millions in X whats the point? For paying Yojimbo, bribing afew monstershere and there? Even if you DID deplete your funds it's just so ewasy to get it back again. Farm afew mimics with gillionaire and your loaded again

I dont even think you NEED money in FFVIII, bar a couple of train rides and paying to get to that draw point in the Shumi villiage

The prices of most things arent even worth writing home about everythings dirt cheap (oh, i think there are like 2 books that are 30,000 gil and thats it - which is onlyu one SeeD wage anyway if you do all the tests, time you get up to said books if you havent FOUND them the conventional way, you're already m,ore than rich enough to cough up)

i know what u mean, its like when ur at the end or towards the end u seem to have a amas of money that you cannot do owt with, i mean if ur before the last boss u can stockpile poitions and stuff like tht, but it does come annoying when u look at ur equipent and u got all the best stuff and u cannot buy any more and you still got like 9000000 or something stupid like tht

Some of the last random battles you fight in the last dungeon of FFIV give you 100k....it's madness, I think I'm into my billions xD

money money money

Final Fantasy VII is the game I have way to much gil. Its not even numbers anymore its so high. FFx-2 I got 14 million. The only games I found that don't have much gil is FFX and FF12. Every other game had you stocked up on gil. FFX you need tons of gil to make HP break and MP break, FF12 you needed gil for all the equipment, gambits, magic ect.

I like in some games where they have throw, gil toss, and bribe. You can stock up on 99 swords and throw them in battle or throw a bunch of gil (which is a waste) but my all time favorite is bribe. You can get a ton of rare items from bribing. To bad its not in all FF's.

I find it gets like this at the end of every FF, the later enemies give out loads of gil...and there's nothing to spend it on, because by the time you're earning serious money, you've already gotten all the healing items and equipment you need.

Oh yeah. Especially now that moms "nothing less than 1,000 gil" rule is in effect, we always end it with like, over one hundred thousand gil. I like it though. It's almost as if it's a form of safety to me. Having all that gil makes me feel like there's nothing to worry about. If I need pretty much anything from any of the shops, I know I can go out and get it, which is hella dope.

Really in most JRPG's I always usually have way more gold than needed, it isn't just Final Fantasy.

But yeah usually in most Final Fantasy the best weapons and armor you usually have to get from either some monster or some side quest, so you don't ever spend money on them, and at the same time those side quest give you lots of money, so you have so much money that you could probably buy out a country in a Final Fantasy game :wacky:

Would you not be pissed off if you were ready to fight the final boss and skint, though? It does make me wonder; how a Cactuar carries 10,000 gil is beyond me. Think theres a 10,000 gil note stuffed in one of its eyeholes?

Actually, no. I buy WAY too much and end up with very little. The exception is probably FF9.

I always end up with way too much of the game currency in most of my games...Except Skyrim. I have fuck-all money in Skyrim.

I hate it.

I don't usually buy much in FF games anyway.
