Trouble fighting Golbez ...

I am at the point in Final Fantasy IV (on the 3DS), where I go into the dwarven castle, and fight Golbez with the Shadow Dragon. All is fine till I get to the second stage of the battle, and all my attacks HEAL Golbez. I can't make a dent, and lose every time. Can someone help me please?
 
only thing i can suggest is use slow, i remember having such a hard time on this guy, but its been a long time since i played the DS/PS version (the psp version is a piece of piss) but using slow helped ALOT

Other than that I can only recommend grinding, the DS/PSP versions are really hard and I died so much on this (and many other boss battles) but using slow will help
 
Uh.... wait, I didnt read all that, i dont remember my attacks healing him. crap. does that include phys attacks? :s
 
Look it up online on the online walkthroughs or strategies section. On the online walkthroughs, when you get to bosses, they always tell you how to defeat the boss.
 
well to anyone new, you can cast libra on him, and you'll get a weak point.
he'll change and you repeat. Call with rydia his weak point
