yay metal fans!

I love all kinds of Metal and Alternative
ranging from Mindless Self Indulgence all the way up to wecamewithbrokenteeth

Glad to see we've got some Maiden fans here...been a massive fan since '93, saw them 4 times since and met them twice. Happen to be watching Death on the Road at the moment.

But most of my musical preference revolves around metal. Right now, my favorite band flip-flops between Maiden and Finland's Nightwish. Good god, so damn good...:woot: But, there are plenty more.

Cradle of Filth:devil:
Dimmu Borgir
My Dying Bride:sad2:
Bruce Dickinson (solo...Chemical Wedding is godly)
Blaze Bayley (don't let his Maiden tenure fool you, his solo stuff is incredible)
Cynic
Fear Factory
Genitorturers
Sirrah
Tristania
Rob Zombie
and gobs more.

How did you get into metal?

I started getting into metal at about the age of 11, started listening to Linkin' Park and later, Slipknot, Soil and Korn.
Around about 13 I started getting bored of the softer forms of metal and searched for more extreme bands, I discovered Burzum, Marduk and Anaal Nathrakh, my first three extreme bands, from there I discovered Folk Metal, Raw Black Metal and Funeral/Drone Doom.
And it's really just gone on from there till now. :/

I started at about 11 also, when my cousin introduced me to KISS. Not really metal, I know, but it progressed through the years into Iron Maiden until the stuff got more and more extreme. Still, I love the whole spectrum of metal and hard rock, including going back to KISS:P.

i used to like metal like a lot back when i was in middle school, but during the last couple years of high school i noticed i like 80s music and alternative rock, but i do still listen to some metal bands like metallica, rammstein, and my all time favorite type o negative!

Ah yes, I can remember innocent days when I even found Korn to be too heavy for my liking.:P

I got started off whilst playing the Tony Hawks' games, that got me into rock properly for a start. I s'ppose you could that Anthrax and Fu Manchu ( if you count them ) on TH2 were my first real tastes of metal. From there it was onto the nu-metal and punk-pop stuff of Linkin Park and SUm 41. My first real metal appreciation was when Run To The Hills was re-released back in '02, I saw it on a music channel and it blew my fucking mind. Edward The Great was then purchased when it was released, Chimaira's "Impossibility Of Reason" was probably my first heavy album as such, and that remains one of my favourites to this day. Recently I'd say I'm more into the Thrash/American side of things as opposed to the European power and black stuff, but I can still dig that. As I've said in various rock threads on various forums, if anything has two loud guitars and a bit of drive to it then I'll probably like it.
