Umbra and Abbysal

You have to light up all the platforms in each room on Penumbra. You light them up with black orbs you get from monsters in the pharos sometimes when they fall. There's no real significance to get the other floors unless you're trying to fight the overseer.
 
yeah and the pedestals require diffrent amounts of black orbs for each one
