I have all games from 6 - 12 of Final fantasy, and am trying to round up the first 5 on ps1 or gba (ds as well)Should I gt FF:dawn of souls (GBA) or FF origins (PS1) cost aside Should I get Final Fantasy 4 + 5 on the GBA or FF anthology on the Ps1, which contains both games. Cost aside.
What are the pros and cons of each.
I am an avid collector of the Final Fantasy series, and know a fair bit about specifics

Urgent help? Okay...

FFIV and FFV GBA still have original sprite based graphics, and maintain the original storyline, there's a few textual changes I think, and also, there are added bonuses to do in the games, but I don't know well enough of them.

Same goes for DoS for the GBA.

EDIT: Thanks for the correction!

origins is for the ps1, and i am just wondering whether it is better to get origins or dawn of souls, which both have ff1 and ff2, and simmilarly whether to get 4 + 5 on the gba or ff anthology on the ps1

The PS versions of IV, V and VI are ports of the original SNES games and are identical. The GBA versions have been reworked slightly i.e. a new and much improved translation, extra dungeons and goodies, and difficulty abit easier. Because the PS versions are direct ports they do suffer from terrible loading times whereas the GBA versions don't at all. Personally I'd go for the GBA versions for these reasons.

However if your a big FF fan then you should get hold of the Anthology just to say you've played the original FFIV and V and not just its 'watered down' GBA versions.

FFI+II Dawn of Souls is very simiar to its PS version only alot easier and has more dungeons. I'd go for DoS because they seem to be alot less tedious to play compared to the PS versions that require more time. Plus when you complete FFII you get to play a new part of the game that extendes the story. However if you have a PSP I recommend getting the PSP versions as they pwn all before it.

thanks for the info. what makes the psp versions better, as they cost a lot more than the gba versions i can get DOS for about a tenner when final fantasy 1 and 2 on psp are at least 15 pounds each?

as for 4 and 5, thanks i will probably get the gba versions

PSP has new extra's aswell as everything that DoS added and the graphics are much better. Pretty much it really....

And of course the GBA is portable so you can play them anywhere. Which is a big plus to me anyway.
And the PSP version of I and II is by far the prettiest. But if you don't own a PSP then the GBA version is good too. Unless of course you dont care at all about portability.
