[V2] Last album you bought/downloaded?

Just picked up Between the Buried and Me's latest album: The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues

Can't fairly judge it so far because I'm on my second listen through but they've definitely cut back on the musical excess found in The Great Misdirect. The instrumentation is very strong as usual and Tommy Rogers uses his clean vocals and some harsh screams reminiscent of The Silent Circus and Alaska.

So far I'd rate it an 8/10 but that can change.

Rebellion (power metal band)

I recently bought Rebellion~Macbeth, A Tragedy In Steel off of Amazon.
$9.95+$2.00 for shipping. Really good deal:sup:.

Anyway, the album is based off of the Shakespeare play Macbeth.
It has speaking parts from the play mixed with power metal.

Really good writing(song-wise).

If you liked the play you will love this album.

Starfall - Dragonland

I'm a big fan of power metal, and Symphonic Power Metal is no different. The album as a whole is great. Perfect sync when each song ends. They flow nicely, and the sound of the whole album is more than what I had first expected.

Waking Hour by Vienna Teng, this woman can sing, The Atheist Christmas Carol is one of her best I think but The Tower is just as amazing, its amazing that great artist like her go unknown basically.

Anyway great album, best tracks on the album; No 1, 4,, and 7. He Piano is amazing so peaceful -- woulda bought more but Zune sucks and doesn't let you unless buy with you Zune Pass ;)

Cat's Eyes - Cat's Eyes

A very ecclectic album indeed. I am unsure what I think of it yet, which is unusual in itself.

"The Unforgiving" by Within Temptation. I'd been thinking about buying it for a while because I do like the band, but I was nervous about there being songs I didn't like. I probably should have checked out some of the songs on youtube first, but it was okay. I like pretty much all the songs. 'Shot in the Dark' is probably my favourite.

But the last track, 'Stairway to the Skies' made me have a moment because the opening sounds EXACTLY like the very beginning to Final Fantasy 7, and I was kinda going '...Aerith?'

all at once - the airborne toxic event
it doesn't quite live up to their debut, i think but it's still a damned good album. i think they've made their sound a bit too widespread, they should have stuck to what they've proven they're good at. but credit to them for being more daring.

last night on earth - noah and the whale
absolutely fantastic. it has a perfect flow and is paced very well. it's hard to pick out a best song from it.

bleed american - jimmy eat world
i'm not a huge jimmy eat world fan, but i do like them. their only other album i have is big casino, and i think this probably just tops it for the sheer raw sound it has

sucker punch ost
it's quite long for the number of tracks it has (almost an hour for nine tracks) but it doesn't feel like it drags. out of context with the films, it isn't a great soundtrack but when put to their relevant scenes, every song works brilliantly

the family jewels - marina & the diamonds
bought it on impulse because i liked one song, so i'm happy with what i got. there are other similar artists that i think do the genre better but i definitely like it

the places between: best of doves - doves
not a great doves fan, but i like what's on this. i probably wouldn't go out of my way to listen to the rest of their stuff though.

Lady Gaga - Born This Way.

It was bound to happen; a week earlier than expected, Lady Gaga's "album of the decade" has hit the internet. This is what I get for being a fan and pre-ordering it (£14 whole pounds) - I waste my money! Then again, I am missing 3 of the apparently better tracks, so I suppose it's still worth the wait.

So I don't think Gaga's going to change the world with this album; the title track, Born This Way, pretty much said her main statement. Other tracks like Hair (talking about being 'free as my hair') and Americano (which briefly addresses unjust immigration laws) will probably also feature heavily in her public appearances where people call her a political activist. But it's still a pretty damn good record.

None of the songs are bad. They're all power fist-worthy; they're fantastic to bounce around to in the shower; they're awesomely electro-driven and actually have quite a bit of substance behind them. You and I, which I thought was just going to be a Speechless/Brown Eyes-esque song (ergo, a lovely acoustic break from the heavier songs on her other albums) still provides a lighter tone but the pace of the album never slows...which I love.

I can see this being stuck on repeat for quite some time...

10/10

Welcome Home Armageddon - Funeral For A Friend

So, when I heard that they came out with a new album, I was pretty excited, and when I went through my first listen, I was very relieved. Not only is the artwork of for the album great, but vocals and everything is great too. I'm so glad that FFAF went back to their roots, but still held onto what made Hours and Tales Don't Tell Themselves so good. I'm also glad that the screams made their return. Matthew really had a unique way of doing those screams, and that's good.

Old Hymns is by far my favorite song of the entire album.

I just bought about 5 albums. I was a little behind on my music. haha.

Jennifer Lopez (Love?)
Jennifer Hudson (I Remember Me)
Lady Gaga (Born This Way)
Britney Spears (Femme Fatale)
Girlicious (Rebuilt)

Out of all of them I LOVE Britney's new album. =D. From beginning to end it's a great album.

Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Man's Chest and At Worlds End.

I lost the actual CD's, so I had to resort to downloading them. >_< They're actually very good. The movies were very action based, and the music definitely lives up to it. I got this after going to watch On Stranger Tides, and oh god. The music. It's absolutely bloody brilliant.

Gothika - 葉月ゆら
I have no idea of it's origin, but it's very excellent. It's creepy. Bloody creepy in all mannerisms of hell, creepy. As well as slightly perverted. The only fansite I can find is in french, so I'm really in the dark about anything about it. But it's amazing<3

The Fool - Warpaint

A very good album on the whole, but lacking something that would have made it excellent. Perhaps some dynamism. But it's very good especially for their first full length album. I like the use of drums on the album. not always particularly pleasant, there's a song that has about two minutes of unnecessary drum and bass, but it does work very well at times.

Amber Asylum - Still Point

My first venture into neoclassical/darkwave. Probably the most relaxing music I have ever listened to. It's almost like Enya, with less unicorns and rainbows.
A very talented female quartet, will definitiely be getting more of them.

d_stormrider_400.jpg

Artist: Iced Earth
Album: Night of the Storm Rider

A friend of mine told me to check out Iced Earth, and this album specifically was the one album he told me to check out. I did, and now I'm in love with the album. It has the perfect mix of great guitars and metal vocals. Now I get why he said it was his favorite.

Downloaded City of Evil By AVENGED SEVENFOLD from Zune, its a great album I love Seize the Day, its been so long since that album came out, I can't believe I've liked them for so long, although now my little brother likes them a lot more; and that's the reason I bought it now xD

I also got Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers Anthology, Credence Clearwater Revival, and This is War by 30 seconds to Mars. Some more great music, imo, classic and now rock. Although 30 seconds to mars isn't close to being as good and the others.

The last album I downloaded was Unbroken by Demi Lovato. It's a pretty good album, my favorite tracks being "Skyscraper", "Unbroken", "Love of a Daughter."

I bought the following soundtracks in one go a few weeks ago now:

The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
The Little Mermaid.
The Swan Princess.

Anastasia.

I've been watching heaps of Disney and other cartoons lately and most of the tunes from these three movies were very catchy. I just had to have the soundtracks. <3

The Hunchback Of Notre Dame - Bells Of Notre Dame

The Little Mermaid - Kiss The Girl

The Little Mermaid - Poor Unfortunate Souls

The Swan Princess - This Is My Idea

Anastasia - In the Dark of the Night

velociraptor! - kasabian
their fourth album, and i think they keep getting better. it starts off at a decent pace and doesn't really slow down until the last track, which is a good way to end it i think. i can't think of any tracks that feel like they're there just as filler, and the majority of them will be fantastic live

Night of Hunters - Tori Amos

Meh, I've still not listened to it and I bought it a few days ago. I listened to first track and wasn't so sure what to make of it, so I'm going to try it again now. It seems like it's getting a bad wrap from other fans which isn't unusual with her later work, but I love most of it, so I'm sure it'll grow on me once I can choke it down the first time.

noel gallagher's high flying birds - noel gallagher's high flying birds
it sounds quite a bit like oasis' later stuff, which is to be expected really. it's better than beady eye's album, which is good because noel was always the more musically talented of the gallagher's. i think he'll always be associated with the likes of definitely maybe and anything he writes will be compared to classic oasis, though.

passive me, aggressive you - the naked and famous
a band my friend told me about, so i gave them a listen. they remind me a lot of arcade fire, with a little bit of mgmt mixed in
