vBulletin 4.1.12 Feedback & Suggestions

It appears that vB 4.0 is not very friendly with 4:3 monitors :hmmm:

Say, did we ever get that whole font color thing working again?

TESTING TESTING, ON SEAMUS BLACK BANNER!

Yup! It's a fixed! Thanks guys! You're awesome!

Also, the CTRL+B for bold is kinda wonky. It takes a while to go on and off and I use hotkeys all the time. It's a bit touchy, like it doesn't fully realize it's just been told to be turned off. That's why this entire post is bolded.

Just so's you knows. :3

So, as you guys know - after the update for the forums; the signature of the week box has gone all haywire, (I assume this is 'cause of the set dimensions the box has) and SOTW history tab has been removed? There was a SOTW history box you could click on - and it would display all the old SOTW winners with their username, and it displayed the winning entry. I know a few people here, including myself would like this back if possible, seeing I can imagine that 'version' not being compatible with the update, but I'm sure an updated SOTW history displayer would be.

Also, can the SOTW box be fixed? It really messes up all the signatures that are being displayed and just looks really unprofessional when viewing the site.

I can't remember if I asked this before, but... is there a way to have images posted on the forum not be auto resizes to 400px in width? It's super frustrating with things like Shop banners or fanclub banners. It used to be 600px in width if I remember correctly, which is a way better size for banners. It also would make sense seeing wider signatures are now allowed cause of how the forum displayed after the vBupdate.

Lots of questions, I know.

As far as I know, the SOTW history box was part of the old SOTW displayer itself. Since that isn't compatible with the vB upgrade, everything is defunct (including the SOTW history), and there's not much the techies can do about that even if they tried. :hmmm: There would be no way to bring back the SOTW history unless the SOTW box is back up, which won't happen, unfortunately.

I know they said that they will work on the current displayer this summer, so hopefully we'll have that fixed soon.

As for the image being auto-resized, up to Belazor. I'm not sure if I have the proper permissions for this.

Edit: Just saw the thread, Riddick.

I guess we'll see what Belazor thinks.

might be an idea to get navbartabs up to help with the resizing issues?
vBulletin 4.2.0 also brought a new navigation manager, so we could look into installing that in order to easily cut down on the number of tabs displayed / rearrange them.

That can be an issue in Chrome when using the WYSIWYG editor. For Chrome I use the standard editor, which means Ctrl+B etc still works fine, only without these issues :)

Where are you seeing the sotw box? I thought that mod was disabled :hmmm:

I believe the settings are in vBulletin Options, you should have the permissions for that.

EDIT: The current plan is still to update the old SOTW mod, hopefully I'll have time for that some time this week :)

She meant the vBslider.

And great to hear that the old SOTW might be updated then!

Kira, auto-resized of images is now set to 600 pixels in width. =]

Ah well good, good, that's great.

Except, I'm using Firefox. :S Do I need a plug-in or something to get it to work?
Thanks, peaches! ^_^

@Belazor et Britannia

Hendra (Uncle Ulty) and I are having trouble when we attempt to view old threads in the Final Fantasy sub forums. :hmmm: If we ask the forum to 'Show threads from the...last 2 months,' for example, we are given the following message:

'Invalid Forum specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator'

This makes modding and FFWeeks a little tricky. ;) During FFVII week I posted a duplicate thread because I had no access to previous pages; as far as I was concerned, there was only 1 page of FFVII threads. :hmmm:

Thanks in advance for the help! :cheer:

i'm getting the same error, this was what I got when I clicked on threads from the last 2 months on the FFVII Section :)

That is a vBulletin bug that has been fixed in vBulletin 4.2.0 :)

As a workaround, go into your UserCP and set threads to show since Beginning, then you should be able to see all the things :)

Any news on the signature space limiting doohickey? Signature space sizes are starting to get even bigger than before. Multiple people around here have two extremely large signatures in their spaces and it's starting to make the forum look like a glorified "hey look at my multiple signatures" circlejerk.

Sorry, Toni, I'm about to get worse.

All of this can easily be solved if you simply set something up to cut off signatures once they go past a 500x500 limit. Make the limit of the signature space as a whole to 500x500. It's still plenty of room to have one big ass signatures and a little bit of text. Plenty of room to do whatever the fuck you want without me having to scroll down 50 miles to read the next post. As stated earlier, I like the signatures, but they're really starting to get out of hand.

Furthermore, I know I can just turn off signatures altogether. However, doing this means I don't get to see signatures at all, and that's not what I want. I like to look at them. They're just getting really fucking huge. I like your signatures, but I don't like them enough to look at the multiple times a day and scroll past huge ass signature spaces that are larger than 95% of the posts on the forum.

Is it just me, or am I taking crazy pills?

I could do that, yes. But then the forum just looks boring as a whole. However, I take it it's easy to insult someone when you, in fact, have a big ass (albeit good looking) signature. Why so hateful, my friend? :sad3:

Furthermore, it shows signatures once per person per entire thread. They may as well just be off completely at that point. If it showed them once per page per thread, then the option is still useless as a whole.

Thankfully, Sulayman is here to educate you to block images in sigs.

edit - seriously, though, you may be able to block sigs in adblock or something.

Can't say I've tried it. :hmm:

edit x2 - here:
