Versus 13 or FF 13?

FF is better than KH, but i don't want an FF just doing what another FF already did, FFXIII is just trying to copy FFVII, there is no originality in FFXIII, it's story is bland and typical, it's hollow compared to previous FF's, at least FFXII was different. I have beaten every FF, i want something different in the series, i don't want the same old thing that FFXIII is trying to do, the only thing different in FFXIII is it's battle system, the story is just so hollow. It'll be a great game, but in the end, it's just a repeat game with a typical story

That's a bit of a cocksure and harsh remark to make before the game is even out don't you think? :P I certainly wouldn't rule the storyline of FF XIII out as hollow and unoriginal based on the very brief summarization we have seen so far.

Please be aware the thread is asking which of the 2 games (XIII or Verses) you prefer - or which you think is looking better so far
 
Although I am really excited for both of these games. I am gonna have to go with Versus. Mostly because of the few videos that I have seen look pretty damn sweet. Plus from what I heard that Versus is going for more realistic kind of game, not so much fantasy. And I really just want see how this will play out.:P
 
What's the point of having a Fantasy game that's going to be really realistic :wacky:

Alright, joking aside, we've already seen realism in other FF's, albeit fantasy inclusion, it's still there in some circumstances. Why everyone's hyped up about the realism in XIII I don't know..it's not really anything special as such. Imo anyway.
 
If Versus is the PSP one, then it's that, for me. While XIII looks interesting in the 'oooh, there's a new game!' sense, Versus looks interesting in that Noct appears to be someone we're going to learn to love, one way or another. I remember reading something about Versus' story pertaining to oppression and authoritarian rule, which piques my interest.
 
Versus is coming out for the PS3 only.

While XIII is coming out for PS3 and 360.

Which I myself am pretty upset that they would give anything to 360, but as I have said before I am going with Versus.

Moderater's I think that this should be moved into a debate forum instead of just which one you would prefer.

I think this poll is kinda unreasonable for voting.... I mean most people who play final fantasy got a playstation 3 so naturally they will choose the game that is compatible for their console and wont choose the oposite...

Versus is coming out for the PS3 only.

While XIII is coming out for PS3 and 360.

could you give a link about that second one... that ff13 with lightning is comming out for ps3 and 360... because that would be a stupid thing to do.... why release two final fantasy 13 on one console? :S

FF13 is coming out for PS3 and 360.

FF Versus 13 is a completely different game and is coming out exclusively for the PS3.

They're to be treated seperately but part of the same compilation... I'm not sure how it will work, but theres going to be 3 FF13's in some mega-hype drive to get everyone excited...

The games have little but a common theme involved... And I'm not convinced at that theme as it appears to be just crystals, which is a theme present in almost ALL Final Fantasy games... So I'm not sure really.


Back on topic, I think FF Versus looks ok... I just really do not like the realism of it. I mean people have GTA IV, Hitman and just about any other game under the sun for that... I don't know why reality has to conquer fantasy,and everyone is hyped up about it. "Final Realism Versus XIII"...

But I do like the look of the magical swords etc in Versus... It's just the character design that fails. I think they'd look a lot better if they let Amano take control of character design, and asked him to make them look very Locke'ish... They'd still look like gangsters, jacket wearers etc, but they'd have a bit more pattern and colour to them. I'd go as far as to say that most of the characters we've seen don't have a character design. They're just wearing a jacket and trousers.

FF13... Looks ok. My main concern here will be the lack of a world map and anything decent outside of Cocoon city... Cocoon seems to be where EVERYONE lives.. and I'm a little bit concerned that all that will be on the planet below is abandoned wasteland and stuff... I'm also a tad concerned about all the monsters being cybernetic, but hopefully there are some normal creatures as well on the earth below. And I hope the environments are great... Cocoon looks fantastic, but if most of the game is spent there then it could get tedious. The trailer looks promising, however...

Judging from the trailers versus looks way better, although i think when they are going to be released ffxiii will be better currently at this stage versus looks way more awesomer and epic and it looks like it has a better story and battle system
 
I'm looking forward to FFversus XIII.Of course at first I was fascinated by FFXIII,the trailer was impressive and there wasn't much information about Versus.But seeing the newest trailers and characters I'll go with Versus.FFXIII sure seems awesome but I'm not into so magical universe/world.I like to have a little bit of both:realism(take a look at the buildings and enviroment in FFversus XIII) and have also magical elements(final fantasy series,are not called like that for nothing).
 
versus looks far more intersting and intelligent. I'm guessing both battlesystems and gameplay with be similar. So it's really just what it looks like (graphics, characters world) characters and story to judge. In which case I think Versus looks better.
 
If I didn't know of Nomura's generally really shitty direction work, I would be salivating all over Versus no doubt. The guy has a knack for making things look faaaaabulously pretty, I mean I'll give him that, but anything further the boundaries of art direction is just a big fat no-no.

No, I'm feeling generous today. I'll say, "questionable/flakey".

On the other hand, FFXIII has been doing very little to impress me. In fact at each coming of new information, I'm just less and less impressed with this game. I really don't know what to make of the current cast. And to be even more honest, I kinda stopped taking this game seriously when I heard that Lightning was basically designed as an excuse so ff7 fanboys can fap to Cloud and not feel gay.

So yeah, basically I'm just kinda stuck in the middle I guess. Though I'll be getting both games regardless, afterall I am basing this off very little, and it's not like it's ALL bad...plus, this is the first time I'm actually following the development of an FF, I always used to just grab it off the store shelves whenever I happened to see a new installme--

FFXIII will be better from Versus because it's the main game of the compilation.Versus might seem cool,but keep in mind that it will probably be finished very quick and it will be quite empty.
 
XIII's cast of characters look weird so far. There's an ex-military and icy cold leading woman, a big bandana-wearing blonde in charge of a resistance movement, a convicted pigtailed girl and now an emotional guy with a chick chocobo in his hair.

Versus XIII's cast looks much better and some look sinister like the guy with the suit. Noctis seems really powerful. Stella appears to have to kill him despite how reluctant she is. Noctis's supporting characters bring the Avalanche and Turk feel again. The blonde one really reminds me of a new Reno. There is more scope here for an emotional and tragic even love story.

I can't feel that in XIII so far so Versus is more intriguing to me.
 
I watched the trailer for XIII, and my thoughts were "I didn't know they're making a new Star Ocean." I'm not really into that setting; it feels so un-FF to me. I mean, that was Phantasy Star's department back in the day. Anyway, there has yet to be enough information about Versus to make much of a comment, but what I can say is that I won't be playing them on account of my not having a PS3.
