Anyone else dissapointed that there was only one Water spell, with no "upgraded" version?

I know you can get water enchanted weapons, but you can get all sorts of magick echanted weapons, so considering how many water-weak monsters there were, do you think they should've added "upgraded" versions of the water spell? Like they did with Fire, Thunder, Dark etc.

Maybe they did this, thinking the game would become harder? I don't know was not hard anyway but yea I found this interesting as well. Every other ff has a water advance like they should. I don't even like how the spell looked so a knew addition would have been welcomed by me. Good call.

The water spell rarely gets upgrades in FF games. The exception being FFX, and a few others. FF7, 8 and 9 all had singular water spells. (not including Leviathan)

I don't remember Water being in FFVII, I think its only VIII onwards that Water has made appearences as a regular magic (ie not Blue Magic or Summon Spell) with X being the only one to have Watera and Waterga.

But yes it was quite annoying. Especially if they had the likes of Darkra and Darkga when I rarely even used Dark in the first place. Was good to see that Aero was not neglected finally tho.

i honestley didnt notice that thanks for pointing it out

i dont use much magic im more of a physical person ( god that sounds bad) but you know the attacks were much better then the magic at some points]

Yeah, I was referring to Aqualung, which was an Enemy Skill. As for Dark...its actually useful throughout the Sandsea and Zertanian Caverns.

It was supposed to be in FFVII apparently, along with Aero and a couple of others but was left out in the end. :S

i never found dark handy because i leveled up vaan so that he could kill most of the stuff in the sand sea ( after my first visit when i was having trouble)

I really hated when I went through the License Board and did not find Watera or Waterga. It only made it even harder for me to get a Salamander Halcyon from the Salamander Entite.

Tbh i'm sure i remember an enemy use waterga on me in ffxii near the end. couldn't remember what one though

I wouldn't be surprised as they also used Earth magic that wasn't able to be acquired. =/.

Water and Aero are two magic spells that get put on the back burner alot during FF games.

I didn't even have many water based weapons (if any) in my weapons list...so I was SOL'd when it came to enemies weak against water. haha. I just hacked and slashed away.

some of the bosses in 9 use watera/waterga

i think there shouldve been cause it would have balanced out the whole elemental table a bit and also becaues water is my favorite element.

You probably used the Waterga mote, that comes up as an Item. Only way you could use Water magic I think..

Maybe it was one of the Esper battles? Most Espers used a -ja level of a particular element, and I'm sure one of them used Waterja. I forget offhand though... =\

If I'm right in thinking, it will have been Famfrit. That's the only Esper who would be using Water based attacks.

All Espers use those power attacks of their main element, yeah it must have been Famfrit. ie: Belias used Firaja, Mateus used Blizzaja. Famfrit must have used Waterja.

Yeah, some enemies do use waterga (AoE crap, just so they damage everyone) but the closest we get to using it is motes.

I simply don't think that lack of ability to use higher-level Water magick was that big of a deal. Were that many enemies vulnerable to water anyways? I don't think so, if I'm remembering right.

Besides, I don't know about you, but I didn't use a whole lot of offensive magic anyways, unless the fight was against Flans or something.

I was referring to spells that the party could cast.

Whilst we're on the subject, some monsters in FF12 cast Watera/ga and Aerora - spells which we can't use. However, if you cast reflect on yourself, you're essentially using those spells against them (yes I know there's a Waterga Mote). The same goes for Darkra.
