We Would be Better off without Religion

We wouldn't be better without religion, because there is nothing particularly good about atheism either.

Modern society is suffering from a grand delusion of it's own self righteous antics; it's so easy for an atheist to say that religion is evil. "Look at the Crusades, the patriarchy, the anti-homosexual bias, the Inquisitions", and so on and so on. And then following that, say "but look at us, we accept homosexuals, we support feminism- secular society is fair and treats everyone equal, we don't go to war over gods".

But secular society is absurdly reactive, dismissing accountability for self righteousness and tradition for self piety. You see, tradition is a mark of accountability, to learn from our fathers, but just like the children raised today, society altogether has neither.
You won't find any strong wisdom outside of traditional values, because such virtues take more then a lifetime to shape and fortify. Secularism has been prominent for what, 50 years?

Atheists will be in for a surprise. Once this 'honeymoon' period of super liberal values and poor attitudes toward anything not conditioned to modern atheist bias, secular society is going to launch right into it's own little dark age, and wars will be fought, and revolutions will occur, and basically everything you blame religion for- their lot will end up doing themselves_

Now maybe I posted in this a long time ago, but honestly, I don't care to find out, mostly because our views, as humanity goes, are always changing - if they weren't well, we've fucked up the general purpose of life then haven't we? I'll reflect back on a statement my father made to me a long itme ago and I still use to this day: "Son, the gateway to heaven can only be opened with the key of faith but religion is the fastest fall to hell you will ever know."

At the time he said those words to me, I hadn't quite understood the difference between faith and religion but now that I'm older and have a lot more experience under my belt in both, I can say I definitively know the difference and can positively say that we would be better off without religion BUT on a going forward basis. I won't deny that religion has gotten us to where we are but in the same respects as it brought us the printing press, so too did it bring the Crusades. In all honesty, religion is going to screw us over - I suspect I will see a holy war in my lifetime that will encompass Europe, the Middle East and America. If we all renounced our religions then we would find ourselves in a vastly more peaceful world than right now. I'm not saying it is a cure-all but it's a large step in the right direction towards understanding and accepting other people for who they are.

If you honestly understood the difference between faith and religion then you would renounce your religions immediately because it would be obvious that dogma does little more than create the same cliques we all saw in high school and we all know how destructive those are.

So I say fuck the Catholics, fuck the Anglicans, fuck the Muslims, fuck all of you. In my eyes, your religion is nothing more than a pitiful excuse for you to spread hatred and bigotry and then hide behind the shield of "God says it's right/wrong." If you honestly understood the difference between faith and religion then you would renounce your religions immediately because it would be obvious that dogma does little more than create the same cliques we all saw in high school and we all know how destructive those are.

You don't like 'religion' because it requires accountability. Making splits between faith and religion is just a cheap, false way to try and make 'good' whatever you think it should be. This world has fallen into a worthless, pointless form of Christianity that has no meaning to the very foundations of Abrahamic principle.

You are supposed to believe what the biblical books reveal, not just the parts that say 'love your neighbor'. Otherwise, you have no faith.
Stop trying to pin the religious against their religion and just accept the fact that it is against your worldview.

I don't know what atheists are smoking to think that religion is about to persecute them, when all evidence points to secular society dooming itself.
I simply don't understand why it's so hard for atheists to see it. Maybe you all have simply gotten too fanatical.
