Weird habits

I think my weird habit is well, uh. It's kind of a yin/yang thing. Sometimes I will look the person directly in the eye as I talk to them, or I can't. I have to be looking around, as if I were looking for someone.

I also have to have 3 ice cubes in my drink, or I won't drink it... weird...

I can't leave the house without some sort of perfume or scent on...weird I know but I think people start associating you with a certain scent or whatever, so I can't leave without wearing any perfume.

I can't sleep at night when I don't have my sound machine on. I usually have the sound of continuous rain on during the fall/winter months and switch to the summer night setting during spring/summer (which is crickets going on a summer night)

I chew on the insides of my cheeks a lot when I get nervous. I've tried to stop doing it but its really hard. Someday :awesome:

I'm also not keen on looking people in the eyes too much. I'm more on the shy side so its awkward for me...but I do it when I have to.

Oh and I've been known to talk in my sleep (though not a habit, it is weird). I laugh when people tell me some of the things I've said... :gasp:

I can't live from day to day without having some sort of gloss or chapstick on my lips. I have TONS laying around my house and I use them constantly. My lips feel naked without something on them.

I used to scratch really rubbery things like the buttons on a remote or something, it made me feel weirdly calm and relaxed.. no idea what that was about. Now I like to do things in fours which can be annoying in some instances. :tard:

I sniff outwards a lot, its hard to explain but I am always sniffing.

I can't have things on the edge of a table like cups and stuff, once my sister and dad pushed all the stuff on the table to the edge while I was out of teh room to see what I would do. And I unconsciously pushed them all back into the middle of the table when I walked into the room. They laughed at me and I didn't get why til they told me.

I also have to leave the tap running for 5 seconds before I can put my glass under for some water... I dunno why, maybe to wash out anything bad in the tap??

I can't use a fork for cold food that has touched warm food ad vise versa, it is gross!!!

thats all I can remember for now :)

Well let's just say I have OCD. Pretty bad at times. I sweep the tables of eraser shavings everytime I sit down no matter what, just to make sure there isn't any there. There's more, but some of them are seasonal and I forget them.

haha i am a little confused.. you make it sound like your house is covered in eraser shavings.... is it? or do you just have an eraser phobia and think they're everywhere?

I have some habits, but not too many.

I tend to twirl the ends of my hair when I get bored or I'm waiting around for something to happen. It's been happening for as long as I can remember and even though it annoys the hell out of many people that are around me at the time, I just can't break out of it.

Sometimes I bite my lip and don't realise it. I only do realise when often enough, it starts bleeding. Nothing too serious, just a little tiny cut when my teeth have penetrated the skin.

And I really don't know where this came from, but I'm obsessed with getting the dirt out of my nails wherever and whenever possible. I like to have tidy nails, though there's not much I can do when I'm working. But even when they're tidy, I tend to swipe my nails through them to pass the time like twirling the hair.

Probably my worst habit is clicking my fingers. People say you get arthritis, but this has been proven to be scientifically incorrect. I can't help it since one day about two to three years ago, my fingers were able to click loudly whenever I tried to do it. So it's a habit here and there. I usually do it when I'm about to get to some work or something.

Oh I leave the tap on for ages before I make a glass of water too, for some reason it just feels cleaner.

I also do the clicking fingers thing, I can click each one of my fingers on both hands at will, my big right toe, my back and I can click both of my wrists repeatedly, much to the annoyance of those around me.

Yeah, I've already posted in this thread, but I may as well add in a couple more odd habits that I've caught myself doing on a very regular basis.

Whenever I do wear my glasses, I'm regularly doing this gesture with my left hand as if straightening my glasses even when there's no reason for it. It's perhaps because I'm too used to my old pair that was often ridiculously loose, so the habit remains even with this newer pair.

I do obsessively snap my fingers nowadays. It was only several months ago when I finally learnt how to properly snap my fingers and I've been compulsively doing it since. It's not tremendously loud at all (I can only seem to muster a feeble clicking sound), but it's enough to annoy my teachers in class as I seem to also subconsciously click my fingers while thinking.

Alright, well I'm a bit eccentric, just that most people don't know it.

1) I go into strange compulsive cleaning fits at random times. Like I'll just get up ridiculously early and clean EVERYTHING: hell, I even vacuum my parents' room sometimes on the occasion that they simply forget to do it.
2) I have to either wash the dishes or pack them away immediately, I hate dirty dishes.
3) I wash my hands thoroughly.
4) When I was a kid especially, I used to hum to myself a lot. I think it was 'cause when I was like 4 or something I still didn't talk properly since I was a bit . . . delayed so the habit stuck with me until recently.
5) I have to step over cracks in a sidewalk or on a crosswalk when I'm walking outside, if I step on a crack then it freaks me out.
6) I'm a grammar/spelling Nazi. I will relentlessly check over a document whether it was authored by myself or not, for errors.
7) I have to eat my meals in parts so for instance, peas don't go with carrots and for the love of god keep my fucking potatoes separate from my string beans.
8) I can't work comfortably without music or some form of background noise. I can't concentrate in silence. Hm . . .

Not sure if I mentioned this before but I whenever I wash my hands I never dry them properly.

It drives Steve nuts. XD

I like how the breeze glazes over my hands and makes them feel even cooler because they're wet. XD I do this in Winter too for some wierd reason. :hmmm:

I tap the roof of the car twice when I get dropped somewhere, it started because my dad used to drive off with my stuff in the boot of his car. So we agreed he would only leave when he heard me tap twice, and it developed from there

I fall asleep to one of three CDs every night, they are comedy CDs and I know all of the jokes by heart

After I finish charging my phone, I have to close the lid thing immediately or I think the battery will drain faster.

I have to have a water bottle in my bed when I go to sleep.

My DVDs must be in alphabetical order.

My AC must be on, regardless of how cold it is.

I never touch the shower handle with my hand. I always use my foot to turn it on.

Every DVD I watch, I check for dust first. If there's even one spec of dust I'll clean it and put it away. I won't watch it due to sadness.

On top of my DVD shelf there's this Mickey Mouse figurine, it has to be standing up at all times and that is where I go to make a wish.

I HAVE to have my laptop with/by me at nearly ALL times. My entire being is basically on this thing, emails, passwords...

Whenever I'm about to leave the house I MAKE SURE my door to my room is closed all the way.

I ALWAYS unplug my consoles when I am done using them. I fear that if I keep them plugged in their life expectancy will go down. (Don't judge, idc if it's true or not. :wacky: )
