Funny, I thought we had this thread already, but we don't seem to. Just curious. What are people planning on getting this year?

I've totally failed to find time to get and play barely anything from last year, so I'm going to be as conservative with this list as I possibly can.

Definite purchases

+ Dishonoured (PS3) - I know it's from last year, but I promised myself I would get it, and I didn't. With a price slash by now, I'm sure it will alleviate some of my fears that this is a really short game.

+ Mass Effect 3 (probably PC) - again, a game from last year. Evidently I'm behind as usual, but I'm playing through the ME games at my own pace - which is to say, a very slow pace because unlike a lot of you, I wish I have the time to spend God-knows-how-many-hours-a-week playing video games.

Maybe (i.e. I may get one or two, but not the others)

+ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3) - I've not played the series, so fuck knows what will be going on here, but I'm willing to go along for the ride purely because this is by Platinum Games, and they're one of my go-to studios for OTT Japanese action games.

+ The Last Of Us (PS3) - I wouldn't usually play these sort of games, but this promises some impressively smart AI and I'm interested to see just how intelligent it is. It's certainly a lot more sophisticated than Uncharted, that's for sure. And given my adoration for The Walking Dead game, which had a post-apocalyptic setting, I'm interested to see how Naughty Dog's take on a post-apocalyptic story will go.

+ Killer Is Dead (PS3) - This is assuming KID will be for this year in the west. This and Revengeance are the two OTT action games I'm looking forward to this year.

+ Tomb Raider (PS3) - Yeah, still waiting for it, but I'm not too fond of how many cues they've taken from Uncharted. The leaked trophy list has a huge emphasis on multiplayer achievements (which in itself looks like a rip off of Uncharted!) and some on killing, killing, killing. Yeah, sorry, but that's not what Tomb Raider is about. I still want the game, but I fear for its identity.

A possibility, I dunno...

+ Bioshock Infinite (PS3)

+ Ni No Kuni (PS3)

+ Tales of Xillia (PS3) - I bet I'm going to hate this, aren't I? I managed to hate Star Ocean 4, to let you know.

Pending

+ Toriyama's Waifu Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) - ONLY because they have some ideas on paper that automatically makes this sound a lot more appetising compared to the tragic last couple of games, but the "story" will be a car crash. But of course, if I see that it looks awfully executed, I will forget about this entirely and save the £15 at most I would be willing to shell out for this lab rat of a game.

The only games I know that I'll be playing for sure are....

WWE 14- Because it's a wrestling game. These are just getting better every year, so hopefully this one will hit a home run. I believe it'll be the last game under the THQ banner. So they have to go out with a bang.

Lightning Returns: Because I have the other games as well. So it'll just be better to finish off the trilogy. Meh...

That is all.

The only one I know so far is Project x Zone, as I pre-ordered it. I MIGHT get Soul Hackers or Pandora's Tower in September, as my birthday's that month.

The only game I'm certain on right now is Ni No Kuni, and that's because it's what I've been looking for in a JRPG for the last few years. Colour, turn-based, random battles, stunning music, some other smaller things. Oh wait, is that new game from Quantic Dreams out this year? The one from the Heavy Rain/Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy (or something) people? I'll definitely be getting that too.
Saying this now, Zelda: Wind Waker HD is out this year too I think. And Animal Crossing 3DS. And Luigi's Mansion 2. And Fire Emblem 3DS. Fine, there's plenty to get me through the year after all :lew: .

Some that I may buy include: Last Of Us and the inevitable CoD. Not entirely sold on the idea of either of these yet.

Other than this, I'll be playing through some old RPGs that I missed out on on the PS1. Happy times :)

Ooh, which RPGs will you be playing? I'm actually planning on buying Thousand Arms sometime soon, or Star Ocean 2.

Chrono Cross, Suikoden, Legend of Dragoon and Wild Arms 2. Having never played any of these, I feel like I'm missing out, so this is the year of PS1 RPGs. Now that you've mentioned Star Ocean 2 mind, I may have to give that a go too on psp. I played the PSP version of Star Ocean 1 and it was pretty amazing.

Anyways, other than everything I've mentioned, I'm going to be playing through Borderlands 2 and some Playstation All-Stars, which should both be pretty fun. Both are multiplayer, soooo I'm hoping someone around here will have them (although I know some people who have BL2, no one seems to play All-Stars).

There's only two new games (for PS3) that I have my eyes on this year, and that's The Last of Us and Tomb Raider. I won't get TR at full price though, so that may have to wait later this year. I'm more interested in The Last of Us, so we'll most likely make that purchase on its release date.

For the 3DS, might get the new Fire Emblem as well. Which reminds me, I need to get back to the new Harvest Moon (A New Beginning) game...

I do hope to play Nier, Assassin's Creed 3, Mass Effect 3 (already have it), Infamous 2 (Christmas gift, I've yet to open the seal) and Dragon's Dogma sometime this year. It's not very likely, but... I'll try. First there's Far Cry 3 that I need to complete.

ni no kumi is pretty much the one and only game i'm major looking forward too this year, great music, turn based 'FINALLY' and the art looks stunning 'studio glibli <3' other games I might get include the last of us, tomb raider, persona 4 arena and Tales of Xillia

for 3ds, the new Fire Emblem, Pokemon X and maybe project x-zone

finally for vita......... er wait, is the vita even getting games <_<

Welp, there's a lot of games that I would like but I can only get them when I start working again. ...and when I start working again I'll likely be too tired and busy to want to play them :(

However, I would like to get Ni No Kuni (looks like a fun rpg type game to fill in for Borderlands 2), GTA V :ohoho:, The Last of Us, and Oblivion.

This isn't a long list for me, but there's nothing immediately calling to me that's coming out this year. It sure as hell isn't going to be Lightning Returns

One of my definite games I'll be picking up is Metal Gear Rising:Revengence. I just think that the mixture of Kojima's character development and plot along with Plat. Games' great hack 'n' slash reputation will be worth an A1.

Other games that'll probably get a look in are GTA V, AC3(from last year) and the original Bloops.

But, these games won't even be touched until I finish my waiting list(BL2, AC Revelations, the final mission in Dishonored and all 3 SLY games)...That'll take a while. :wacky:

My list of things to buy this year includes...

- Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Twilight Land - If I get nothing else, I MUST get this. With the exception of Castlevania (I'll get to that in a minute) the Atelier series is the only series that is consistently excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll improve upon Meruru, and given it's set apart from Arland, it's going to be a fresh start. Gimme.
- Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon - Because they're FINALLY going to release it. I loved the first one and, whilst I think Mario games are shit, this isn't Mario, so.
- Tales of Xillia - I think this looks worse than Graces f did, but if this manages to have a worse story, I will be amazed. So I'll give it a chance.
- Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory - For crying out loud, get it right this time, PLEASE. The first was hilarious but had dismal gameplay, and the second had excellent gameplay but wasn't remotely funny most of the time. Third game, so let's have something hilarious with excellent gameplay. But if nothing else I'm getting this for Neptune's sassy attitude.
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 - Playing as Dracula. Enough said.
- Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate - Unfortunately not the same as the above, but I love handheld Castlevania titles; Aria of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin rank amongst my favourites.
- Pokemon X and Y - Believe it or not, I'm looking forward to these. They can't possibly be any worse than the fifth generation games were, and with the graphics being sub-par I'm inspired to believe that Nintendo will actually make proper video games out of these. Plus the designs are already better. So many possibilities with these, and I'll end up buying both...meaning I'll need a second 3DS for trades, but my mother is long overdue one anyway.
- Dragon Age III: Inquisition - Autumn 2013, yes? I'll probably get this, unless it's obviously going the way of Dragon Age II, in which case I won't, because that game was disgraceful for its lack of plot.
- Disgaea Dimension 2 - If NIS don't localize this this year, I will NEVER forgive them. A sequel to the original Disgaea? Yes, please. It's been too long since the trio of Laharl, Etna and Flonne got up to mischief. I expect a game on par with Disgaea 4 at the very least out of this.
- Monster Hunter Tri U - Dependent on me getting a Wii-U - which will definitely be happening now with a new Monolith Soft JRPG on the horizon - but I want this. Goodbye, 250+ hours of my life on online play. I doubt I'll finish the offline game this time around either; I just want to jump straight back in and start lancing everything that moves. Bad experiences with the PSP versions mean I won't be purchasing the 3DS version of this, however.
- Corpse Party: Book of Shadows - As soon as I get a job, this is going to be the first thing I buy. The first was fun, and I'm looking forward to getting my hands on the expansion. Plus I ship Seiko with everyone...

Games I MIGHT purchase, should I come into extra money, include Ni No Kuni (gone off this a bit), BioShock Infinite (American exceptionalism makes me rage; I just know I'll hate this game) and if it gets released, Dark Souls II. If I get the opportunity to buy Atelier Totori Plus and Atelier Meruru Plus on PS Vita, I will, although I somehow doubt we'll see those localized. Tokitowa might get a localization this year, and if The God And Fate Revolution Paradox does, those are two more I'll get. I'd quite like Dynasty Warriors 8 as well, if only because I love hacking shit to pieces. I have no idea where the money for these purchases is going to come from at the moment, by the by. This makes it all the more imperative that I find myself a job. xD

Stuff I'll be playing this year...whatever I feel like, really. At the very least, I want to plat NieR, Dragon Age, Atelier Rorona/Totori/Meruru, both Borderlands and all three Mass Effect games on my new PSN account, so I'll be playing all of those...probably multiple times. I'd quite like to replay some of my old DS games as well, and of course if there is a Xenoblade sequel coming out (and even if there isn't) that'll get replayed...on NG+, because grinding through the game again would probably kill me.

As an aside, I'll buy Lightning Returns if a) Caius is in it and b) there are at least five tracks on the OST that don't make me want to cut my ears off. Challenge issued, Square Enix. Call me out on it. I dare you.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory

forgot to add that to my list..... opps, want to get this as well as it looks like a half decent rpg

The Last Of Us
I cant wait for this survival game. I hope it isnt too short of a game.

Tombraider
This reboot has intrigued me since emphasis is on survival as well and emotions. How did Lara Croft become how she is.

BioShock Infinite
Played the first game on xbox for a while but lost interest since fall out 3 swept me away at the time. I didnt really liked it. But when I saw the trailer of Infinite I was like damn thats way better looking than Rapture. Saw a video review on tv as well and I will definitely give this one a try.

The Last Guardian
Well no brainer really.

GTA V
I didnt bother with GTAIV but GTAV is taking place in San Andreas. Hell yeah I need to buy and play this shit.

Watchdogs
This game has an insane gameplay vid ever. Just freeking wow. Graphics top notch and the way he can hack and interact with surroundings is outstanding. Definitely gonna buy this one.

Probably Dead Space 3 (even though I never played DS2)

New game from Quantic Dream? Forgot the title. I just loved Heavy Rain.

All PS3.

This is the year for games. So many good games. Here is what I will be playing, and potentially playing.

The Last of Us( Oh my god my most anticipated game and it even comes out when I graduate college, so it is perfect for me. I so cannot wait to play this)
Beyond: Two Souls: If it does come out this year. It looks like I will most definitely be playing this.

Ni no kuni: Going to get it after I finish replaying Xenogears.
Xillia 1 and 2. I have been waiting for Tales of Xillia to be localized for a god damn long while now, and I cannot wait to use Milla, because she is awesome.
2 will be out if 1 gets good sales.

MGS Ground Zeroes: No contest, this is just behind Last of Us in terms of interest. It looks so amazing, and given that I am an MGS freak, I cannot wait to find out more about Big Boss. I loved Peace Walker.

MGS Rising: Vengeance: This is coming out next month and it looks like a really gory game, but I cannot wait for it either way. Raiden went through a really hard life, and I am curious if he will die in this new one. I hope not....

Pokemon X and Y: When this was announced, I just fell in love with it right away. Cannot wait to start with Fennekin!

Bioshock Infinite: Probably the first Bioshock game to interest me. This one looks like it had lots of inspiration which is always nice.

Tomb Raider: No, not for that godforsaken ripoff of Uncharted's multiplayer mode, but for the single player.. and that looks truly awesome. I just hope Lara is not a killing machine by the end, because that is not her job.

Remember Me: This looks really interesting given that you can steal the memories of people, and even go into them. It really impressed me.

Destiny: Bungie never fail to disappoint and it is supposed to be coming out in the Fall of 2013. Although not much has been revealed yet, it is good enough for me that "it is like halo" Definitely can jump to my most anticipated game as well.

Lightning Returns: I am liking the details a bit more, but I cannot say it is in my top 10 in terms of most anticipated games. It can get there, if a little more is revealed that can impress me. I already love the idea of Lightning moving in battle though. What I do not like? If they half ass the game and make all of Lightning's friends get chaos in them(infected)

Maybe Dragon age III.

Versus? Oh wait I forgot Noctis is still locked in a dark room with no light and Stella cannot even speak a word yet. Take notes from Monolith, SE.

Well as of now, on my list for this year i've got plans for...

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory: Been wanting this since I first heard it was announced, looks like another huge improvement from Mk2 :ohoho:

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance: This will be a game i'll probably get into quickly, decent action games are hard to find these days and after DmC i'd like to hope this can give me my fill

The Witch and the Hundred Knights: Admittedly I don't know much about this game yet, but NIS hasn't led me astray yet so i'll be giving it a shot

Disgaea Dimension 2: Like above, NIS games have been good to me before and this shouldn't be any different

Dragons Crown: This is more a hopeful for 2013, hasn't got a release date yet but from the looks of it it should be a really fun multiplayer action RPG

Mugen Souls Z: Assuming this is released this year, i'll be all over it

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Flash: This one I am in disbelief of the 2013 release date so this will only be hype for 2013 if it's actually released this year, one of the very few story driven JRPGs these days

Tomb Raider: After the recent trailer, this one has entered my attention

Aaaaaand that's about it for current memory, might be more but those are my current games of 2013 as far as I recall :hmmm:

The only new games I want this year are Animal crossing 3DS and also Pokemon x/y

If I end up getting a wii u it will be because the new WWHD comes out and I will get that too

Im kinda late with this since the new gaes f the year I wanted came out last month which included Tomb Raider,Naruto Storm 3 and Gears of War Judgement. 100% beat tomb Raider and Naruto so im done with that and still somewhat play gowj. anyway for the rest of the year I plan on getting.

Ps3 (i only get exclusives on my ps3)
Beyond Two Souls
The Last OF Us
Tales of Xilla (Really looking forward to it since Japan allready has friggin Tales of Xilla 2 o.e

Xbox 360
Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (thats my most anticipated game for this year just because im looking forward to be able to say I have the entire saga and all 3 games 100% beat achievment wise.I plan to knock out all achievments just like the last 2 before it.

Remember Me
WWE 14
Grand Theft Auto IV

I maybe and I mean maybe get that trash they call Devil May Cry reboot just to say I played it and can prove myself right that its a crappy game. of course that price has to drop alot before i even consider it :P

WWE 14! That's what's up. Hopefully 2K doesn't fuck with anything. I think Yukes still makes them and all that. Meh... Also to add to my list, I'm totally gonna steal Tomb Raider from my Dad and play that. It looks hella dope. I loved all the previous Tomb Raider games, so hopefully this one will be even better (Yes, I know it came out already, we just haven't gotten it yet. XD)

Yeah Yukes is still calling the shots but they have to do whatever 2k says. Im sure their was something about them keeping the way the game looks and such the same so it wont be too different. But im hoping that we finally get new CAW attires cause Its time for a change seriously.

Your gonna love Tomb Raider trust me, I spent more time hunting animals for loot more than anything xD

Dragon Age III: Inquisition

I was never quite as enarmoured with Dragon Age as I was with Mass Effect. Dragon Age: Origins had solid gameplay (on PC, being a mage on console was a nightmare) and character progression, but the visual design was incredibly bland and the storyline incredibly predictable and only really saved by some really funny dialogue and well written characters. Dragon Age 2 improved greatly upon the visual design and storyline, but felt very much like a rush job with a lot of recycling throughout. I liked the inclusion of a voiced main character, but I just wish Hawke had been more interesting. I am cautiously optimistic about Inquisition though. If they can take the things that were good in Origins and II respectively and omit the rubbish, this could be a great RPG.

Elder Scrolls Online: I loved Skyrim, and the prospect of exploring Tamriel with my friends is an exciting one. Unless I get picked for the beta and I get a really good impression of it, I don't see myself being a launch player though. I have seen too many promising MMOs fail for me to invest my time and money in something which might be gone with the wind or have very minimal support just 6 months after launch. So I think I will chalk this one down as a "maybe" and maybe not before 2014.

Wildstar Online: Another MMO which I think holds a lot of promise. I love the design and some of the ideas the developers of the game have for it. For the same reason as ESO though, I will chalk it down as another "maybe".

XCOM: Enemy Unknown: A game from last year which I really want to play. Currently I am just waiting for a good deal on Steam :D
