Funny, I thought we had this thread already, but we don't seem to. Just curious. What are people planning on getting this year?
I've totally failed to find time to get and play barely anything from last year, so I'm going to be as conservative with this list as I possibly can.
Definite purchases
+ Dishonoured (PS3) - I know it's from last year, but I promised myself I would get it, and I didn't. With a price slash by now, I'm sure it will alleviate some of my fears that this is a really short game.
+ Mass Effect 3 (probably PC) - again, a game from last year. Evidently I'm behind as usual, but I'm playing through the ME games at my own pace - which is to say, a very slow pace because unlike a lot of you, I wish I have the time to spend God-knows-how-many-hours-a-week playing video games.
Maybe (i.e. I may get one or two, but not the others)
+ Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (PS3) - I've not played the series, so fuck knows what will be going on here, but I'm willing to go along for the ride purely because this is by Platinum Games, and they're one of my go-to studios for OTT Japanese action games.
+ The Last Of Us (PS3) - I wouldn't usually play these sort of games, but this promises some impressively smart AI and I'm interested to see just how intelligent it is. It's certainly a lot more sophisticated than Uncharted, that's for sure. And given my adoration for The Walking Dead game, which had a post-apocalyptic setting, I'm interested to see how Naughty Dog's take on a post-apocalyptic story will go.
+ Killer Is Dead (PS3) - This is assuming KID will be for this year in the west. This and Revengeance are the two OTT action games I'm looking forward to this year.
+ Tomb Raider (PS3) - Yeah, still waiting for it, but I'm not too fond of how many cues they've taken from Uncharted. The leaked trophy list has a huge emphasis on multiplayer achievements (which in itself looks like a rip off of Uncharted!) and some on killing, killing, killing. Yeah, sorry, but that's not what Tomb Raider is about. I still want the game, but I fear for its identity.
A possibility, I dunno...
+ Bioshock Infinite (PS3)
+ Ni No Kuni (PS3)
+ Tales of Xillia (PS3) - I bet I'm going to hate this, aren't I? I managed to hate Star Ocean 4, to let you know.
Pending
+ Toriyama's Waifu Returns: Final Fantasy XIII (PS3) - ONLY because they have some ideas on paper that automatically makes this sound a lot more appetising compared to the tragic last couple of games, but the "story" will be a car crash. But of course, if I see that it looks awfully executed, I will forget about this entirely and save the £15 at most I would be willing to shell out for this lab rat of a game.
