I intended this to be more specified to University and College originally but I realise you can study things outwith higher education - apprenticeships, pre-registration years, etc - so really anything you're studying.

Did have a quick skim for another thread but can't see anything really.

Where do you want your studying to take you?

I'm at Glasgow University studying biology. I'm in 2nd year so it's just "general" biology we study, we don't specify a degree until 3rd year. I'm leaning towards Genetics and Pharmacology just now but I'm still undecided. There's a branch of therapeutics called Personalised Medicine that's based on designing drugs for every individual genetic code more tailor made to cure their conditions, and since this combines my two loves, it seems like an easy option.

I was browsing job prospects and 4 years after graduating I can become a counsellor in genetics and earn between £55000 and £98000...I almost peed. :wacky:
 
I study computer sciences at Gerald-Godin college near Montreal. It's my first year and I really like it. It's a computer programming oriented program and it takes 3 years to finish. I went to college a couple years ago in social sciences but didn't really liked it. A programmer can earn between 30 000$ and 60 000$ depending on the experience he has. After that you can become an programmer-analyst or an analyst. I would like to continue my studies at university in software development or video game development.
 
I am studying Kinesiology currently at Victor Valley College. I had a change of pace from last year, when I started studying computer repair stuff. I want to continue at a University so that I can go on to be a PE teacher/coach.
 
I started communication and multimediadesign this year, before that I studied at an art academy, since I really enjoyed drawing, but I didn't like it at all and they were mean as hell in there so I quit after 6 months. So, now I'm busy with my second project at CMD. A game design project and I love to learn it.
I like it way better than the art academy, but the way we get our points is a bit annoying, and it's always group work and I happen to step in the wrong groups. But I think I'm gonna study in 2012 for a year in Vancouver and I hope I can graduate as a game designer or do something with film.
 
I'm doing my History degree at University, and I want to do a PGCE once I've completed the degree. For about 5 years now I've known that I want to be a History teacher when I leave full-time education, no other job has interested me enough for any other degree to be acceptable.

I'm really hoping to be a college teacher, since the atmosphere would be the best, and the pay is decent. Teachers earn enough to live a comfortable lifestyle, and that's all I want really. :lew:
 
Currently pursuing an associates, bachelors, and masters degree in Architecture. Quite an interesting major that combines both science and art in a way that is incredibly beneficial to society. I currently go to San Diego Mesa Community College and I hope to transfer to a university sometime in the next few years. I enjoy my major a lot, and I don't see myself ever pursuing anything else.

In the future, I hope to head my own architecture/landscape architecture firm as the pay is incredibly gratifying at over 6 figures if you're talented enough. I can even see myself as a city planner, as urban planning is something I'm interested in branching off towards during my studies.

EDIT: I also try to pursue minors and associates degrees in various languages. Currently I'm one class away from getting an associates in Chinese and a couple classes more and I should be eligible for one in Spanish.
 
Currently an Undergrad going for a Bachelor of Arts in Playwriting and Dramaturgy. Pretty much, I write awesome stuff for the stage, and I research relevant information/historical contexts/interesting things that pertain to a play in production to help the actors with their characters, directors with their job, and the production team with their concept designs.

In the future...I really just want to write some awesome plays. Really interested in the thriller/mystery genre, but want to try my hand at creating a "horror" play for the stage.

Haven't really thought about graduate school yet. I'm only a Sophomore. I want to get some world experience before going to grad school.
 
Mmm was doing a Diploma in Graphic Design, and going to go back and redo my second year to boost my average, but instead i think im going to try for Chemistry or Biology, seeing as those subjects fascinated me the most in Highschool, and still do.

right now in year 10 moving on to year 11 but hoping to get into games design you nkow make games for the main consoles and hopefully PC I mainly want to be in the story board and animations part of the buisness and i'm hoping to when i do get a degree in it go to america and work for insomniac for some experience and see what happens

for those of you who are thinking why doesn't he go work at square enix to that i answer f you i don't really want to live in japan and i consider square enix sacred ground and i am worried if i work there i may piss on to that sacred ground and by that i mean ruin their next game which i definitely don't want to do

though my parents disaprove of it whole heartedly
 
I'm doing a Bachelors of Science degree in Uni, my subjects are Biology, Computer Science, and Maths. I hate maths but I had to do it in first year, and CS means I have to do it for two. We don't have module choices yet as we're being given a decent framework before we choose where to specialise.

I started with four subjects and drop one each year, though in fourth year I can keep two if I really wanna do a double honours. Which I do so I'm gonna stay with Biology and Computer Science. I love them both a lot, CS is incredibly interesting and diverse, really makes you think, plus it's a guaranteed job afterwards. Biology was my favourite subject in school, because I love learning how the body works and what it's capable of, also how it can be advanced, improved, and restored.
 
I study News Journalism, Japanese and Information systems computer science at a university in Illinois. It's a lot of work, but at least I'll have a lot on my resume and have many roads I can take.
People always ask about knowing Japanese, so it's great. Always helps :)
 
I am currently studying internacional chef which I started 2 days ago. I always have pasión for cooking so I decides to studying that. I really enjoy cooking and it is a good profession to have because it will open many doors to you when it comes to getting a job. It is a 1 year course which is not that much and you get to learn lots of recipes.
 
Just started the Graduate Diploma in Law as of this month. It's essentially the LL.B. condensed into a single-year (if full time, otherwise it's 2 years for part-time).

I think it fits me like a glove. As a course, it complements what I'm already used to (research, arguments and critical reasoning) in the form of the standard essays that both test your understanding of the legal material and your ability to critically apply principles of e.g. tort to contemporary, practical situations. What is new is the heavy emphasis on problem-solving exercises designed to encourage a student from the very first day to think like a lawyer in hypothetical case scenarios. It's certainly a fantastic approach and it plays favourably into my tendency to go all OCD on the smallest of details. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

Mind you, this is only a very general law course. It's not until the Legal Practice Course that it delves into the many little idiosyncracies of certain areas, and where it begins to genuinely branch out into more specialised topics.

As for the topic, I am studying Philosophy (I guess you can call it that) and languages (Major in Italian). Well, my course is broad and we look at all these different philosophical books and ask questions about them, are critical, etc. I find that it is a friendly environment and very active. Everyone is just so busy reading! Yeah, anyone reading this likely thinks I am moronic for getting in this program but whatever. I like to read and that should not be a bad thing. Oh hello to you Enraged Emu you STEM arsehole. One common huge misconception we A&S students get from the superior STEM level is the fact that A&S students have a hard time finding a job. It is true that they do, but people in my program have gone to the best universities in the world including Oxford (Oxbridge?), Yale, Harvard, etc. It is true that in a place like here I would have a hard time finding a job, but perhaps moving abroad I can get somewhere with this, and I know I can put my eventual degree to good use. Oh but why study philosophy when you can do it at home, right? Unbelievably, these books force me to think in ways I would never think were possible before and it has made me smarter as a result. I recently read half of Ulysses (about 500-600 pages of it) and I said to myself "This book has no fucking plot", and to make matters even worse, the last section is Molly's monologue and it has NO PUNCTUATION. It was so hard to read. Sadly, I have not finished the book but neither have any of my classmates. A huge headache moves in plot stylistically. That said, the book is amazing and I highly recommend trying to read it. I obviously do not understand it since it is fragmentary, but I know that I appreciated the writing. As for the language side of things, I am Italian, but I find the Italian major even teaches me things I never knew growing up as a kid/teenager and that is beneficial to me. I speak more English now, and it is nice to have some Italian studies. If all goes well and I get my degree, I may do 1 year at Mcgill University in International studies/relations next year or so my professor told me in 1st year.

At the minute, I'm doing a BTEC Level 3 course in Music Technology which is funded through Cardiff & Vale College but it's not actually an on-site course. The difference with this course from a typical college course is that there's a strong focus on youth and community work. For example, there's a whole module dedicated to running a work shop for young people. And at the end of the course, we have to plan and run an event for the community. We get £1000 between us to spend on hiring a venue, acts, etc.

And speaking of youth work... That's another area I'm studying in. I got my Award in Youth Work Level 2 qualification and currently waiting to get Level 3. I may progress to uni to get a degree, but I don't feel that's all that relevant to the kind of job I'm looking for.
 
I'm doing a Bachelors of Chemical Engineering degree, halfway through my 5th year.
since I've been forced to take it by parents; I hate it so much, but I'm so close to graduating so I'll try to survive :')
 
In my first year in Highschool, general schedule with Art as an option. Next year, if everything's ok, I'll be in Litterature with Art as a Major and after two years of that, I'll go studying Art in college.
 
Got a couple different things going on right now. In the military I'm transitioning to a new career field, so learning about Air Transportation and it's basic concepts before moving on to the advanced stages of this profession. On the civilian side I am debating going for my Master's degree in Criminal Justice or onto another career field of a different path so to broaden my horizons and marketability down the road. I'm happy where I'm at now job-wise, but the opportunities are endless.

I may never stop studying and taking tests. :/
