I was just thinking about this, this morning as I've been buying a fair few disney movies lately from ebay and most of them you can't buy in shopping centres anymore and most are out of print.

Please write down a list of Disney Animated movies that you own and a list of what you wish to own, and then maybe pick one movie out of the bunch that is your favourite and talk about it, just to keep this thread looking neater and less spammy.

Anyone who's post consists of just a list of what they own, may be deleted. It just looks lazy.

Thanks. =)

I love Disney movies as you can probably tell. >.<

My favourite of the bunch is the one I have yet to buy: Beauty and the Beast.

I love the whole story and the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard of in a Disney movie.

The one movie that disappointed me was Sleeping Beauty. It was the only movie that I had never watched before buying but I thought it would be a good watch.

Sadly it was a little bland and felt a little too rushed. =/

I found it funny that they all had at least a sequel save for Treasure Planet, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White.

Here is a list that I came across while trying to remember what animated movies I owned that were actually disney movies. Please have a look so that you don't list anything non-animated or non-disney. Thanks!

Beauty And The Beast IV
I weep simply due to the fact that these apparently exist ;_;

Anyway,

Movies I own:
Aristocats
Hunchback of Notre Dame
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
Cinderella
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Fantasia
Bambi
Peter Pan
101 Dalmations
Robin Hood
The Little Mermaid
Fantasia 2000

To be honest, I waver on which one of these is my favorite. Beauty and the Beast is certainly up there just by how well all the elements of it (love, hate, happiness, sadness) are balanced, but Hunchback has been a long-declared #1 for me partly because I love the songs/animation and partly because it got shafted in the ratings (too many parents took little kids to see it).

Disney Animated Movies I'd like to own:
The Princess and the Frog
Aladdin and the King of Thieves

King of Thieves (as I see it) ended up being when Disney was doing DTV sequels and they weren't entirely known for sucking. My big kick from thsi movie is how the real enemy isn't a distinct villain or person. It's a mindset/way of life. "Follow the trail of the forty thieves; your father is trapped in their world". Not just literally either. I love how that worked.

And just to add another category: Disney animated movies that I have seen but don't own and probably won't buy.
Pinocchio
Dumbo
The Three Caballeros
The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr. Toad
Alice In Wonderland
Lady And The Tramp
Sleeping Beauty
The Sword In The Stone
The Jungle Book
The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh
The Rescuers
The Fox And The Hound
The Black Cauldron
The Great Mouse Detective
Oliver & Company
The Rescuers Down Under
The Lion King
Pocahontas
Hercules
Mulan
Tarzan
Lilo And Stitch
The Return of Jafar

This list is in here due to the fact that some time late last year I set out on something of a when-I-have-the-time-for-it quest to see every non-sequel Disney animated movie. The ones listed above are all the ones I've seen in that span of time. I'll be honest; this also made for the first time ever that I'd seen Great Mouse Detective and The Fox and the Hound. Rage at me if you will; I've seen them both now, and to perhaps invite further rage without intent; I enjoyed Great Mouse Detective more.

The one movie that disappointed me was Sleeping Beauty. It was the only movie that I had never watched before buying but I thought it would be a good watch.

Sadly it was a little bland and felt a little too rushed. =/

Sleeping Beauty's an odd one for me. I agree that in a lot of areas it was bland and rushed, but it did get two notable things in it that I liked.

1: The three fairies ended up being the real heroes of this movie as I see it. They claimed to be powerless against Maleficent, but they managed to hide Aurora from her for sixteen years, and when the time came for the Prince to do his thing...all he really did was ride a horse and take a few ineffective swipes at some thorns. The fairies got him out of jail. The fairies gave him weapons. The fairies enchanted the sword and they themselves fired it at Maleficent (In another poll for ranking you five favorite heroines, they actually made #2 on my list :p ).

2: Maleficent gets epic villain props for being able to use dialogue that wouldn't get through by today's standards.

"Now, you face me, O Prince! And all the powers of HELL!"

Cue epic dragon. (I know all she really said was the word "Hell", but I can just see parents freaking out about that by today's "kid movie" standards.)

I actually only own Lilo & Stitch on DVD by Disney, animated wise. The other 2 are Wall.E and Finding Nemo. I wanna get Robin Hood and Aladdin, those so remind me of my childhood and singing along to them. Ive seen alot of Disney movies, but only afew stick with me.

I don't own any Disney movies on DVD. But my Auntie used to tape them for me when I was a kid and I still have most of them.

Movies I Own

101 Dalmatians
Aladdin
Alice in Wonderland
Bambi
Beauty and the Beast
Cinderella
Duck Tales the movie
Dumbo
Hercules
Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Jungle Book
Lady and the Tramp
The Lion King
The Little Mermaid
Peter Pan
Pocahontas
Pinocchio
The Rescuers
Sleeping Beauty
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
The Sword in the Stone
Toy Story (if we are counting Disney Pixar)

I used to watch these all the time. My favorites were Aladdin, the Jungle Book, the Lion King, Hercules, Pinocchio and Peter Pan.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a few DVD's but at this point I don't really have the money to splurge. Also it's ridiculous how hard it is to find them in shops considering how awesome they are.

Toy Story (if we are counting Disney Pixar)

Counting Pixar, I've seen Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Toy Story 2, Monsters Inc. and WallE. Oddly enough, I think Toy Story 2 was my favorite of the batch and I wouldn't mind owning that one some day. I have Monsters Inc. already. Fun, if odd little movie.

I used to watch these all the time. My favorites were .... Peter Pan.

I used to worry my parents because my favorite character was Captain Hook (the bad guy) and not Peter Pan (the good guy). It didn't help that after watching Bambi I happily declared that I liked the scary parts either.

I don't think I'm going to count the Pixar films in my list.

Aladdin
Aladdin II: Return of Jafar
Aladdin and the King of Thieves
The Lion King (my personal favorite)
The Lion King II
The Little Mermaids (even I can't watch this one)
Beauty and the Beast
The Fox and the Hound
Robin Hood (the one with foxes)
The Great Mouse Detective
The Jungle Book
A Goofy Movie
Mulan

The films I wish to own are:

Lilo & Stitch
Emperor's New Groove

And as an off topic remark: I think Disney films are great. They should just stay the Hell away from mainstream music.

The Little Mermaid
Cinderella
Lion King
Aladdin
Hercules
Tarzan
Sleeping Beauty
Beauty and the Beast

I also have Bambi and Snow white on VHS, never ever watch them though because i cba with the video player

Little Mermaid is probably my favourite, I can actually watch that more than once a day and not get bored, ohhh and Beauty and the Beast, absolutely love that film

I think I liek Herecules the least, it felt liek a really slow starter, and once it started getting good it was almost over

There's nowt else I can think of that I want right now, the ones I was really wanting that I was after for ages, I finally got anyway

Oh Peter Pan! I must get that film :mokken:

The Classic Disneys always seem to be so fuckign expensive though

I really can't wait to watch Pocahontas 1 and 2. I've not watched the first one yet even though I already had it, simply because I wanted to have both first so that I could watch one after the other. XD

Little Mermaid is probably my favourite, I can actually watch that more than once a day and not get bored, ohhh and Beauty and the Beast, absolutely love that film
I love both of these movies just as much. They have to be my favourites out of the lot. <3

The Classic Disneys always seem to be so fuckign expensive though

Ugh I know what you mean. Beauty and the Beast was the most expensive and hardest to find.

I finally got it for $19 in the end which was just out of sheer luck. The lady was selling a bunch of new and sealed ones for $30 on ebay and the one I got for $19 just wasn't sealed. >.<

They were usually going for $50-$60. I'm so glad I waited for that lady. :gonk:

Whoa, way too many, I can tell you that. We've had them packed up in boxes for years now. Let me see if I can remember which ones we have...

Bambi
Lady and the Tramp
Hercules
Pinocchio
Tarzan
Dumbo
Little Mermaid
101 Dalmations
Fox and the Hound
Emperor's New Groove

If we're counting Pixar, that brings up the movie count...

Toy Story 1, 2, & 3
Monsters Inc.
Finding Nemo
A Bugs Life
The Incredibles

There are probably more that I can't remember at the moment. I know there were a few big ones that we were never able to get, like Aladdin and Cinderella. Also, almost all of these are VHS's in the clamshell cases.

I have a fair few... :wacky:

  • Aladdin
  • The Aristocats
  • Bambi
  • Bambi II
  • Basil the Great Mouse Detective
  • Beauty and the Beast
  • Brother Bear
  • Brother Bear 2
  • Dinosaur
  • Dumbo
  • The Emperor's New Groove
  • Fantasia
  • Fantasia 2000
  • Finding Nemo
  • Fox and the Hound
  • Hercules
  • The Hunchback of Notre Dame
  • A Hundred and One Dalmatians
  • Jungle Book
  • Lady and the Tramp
  • Lady and the Tramp II
  • Lilo and Stitch
  • Lion King
  • Lion King II
  • Monsters Inc
  • Mulan
  • Oliver and Company
  • Peter Pan
  • Pinnochio
  • Pocahontas
  • Pocatontas II
  • The Princess and the Frog
  • Ratatoille
  • Robin Hood
  • Sleeping Beauty
  • Sword in the Stone
  • Tangled
  • Tarzan

I have owned Alice in Wonderland, The Rescuers Down Under, Treasure Planet, Mulan II, The Emperor's New Groove II, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and the supposed Emperor's New Groove II, but didn't like them enough and sold them. I also sold Cars, Toy Story and Toy Story 2, which I now regret!

Lion King and Mulan.

Don't care how old they get, timeless. Mulan is actually on my hard drive :monster:
