is slow?

Whenever I view a thread or page, it shows it as I last viewed it. I find myself constantly having to hit refresh to see new replies/information.

This isn't just on FFF, this is a whole internets thing, so it is the browser. I'm just wondering what I need to do to it to make it less laggy/retarded.

There's 3 possibilities from what i can understand.

1. You have other programs open/ you have too many programs on your comp and is using too much RAM.

2. Your Browser history?

3. Bandwidth may be used up. (I don't know what kind of deal you have with your provider so i'm just assuming)

It works fine on the laptop though, it's just the main house computer/desktop that it does this.

Mmmk, sometimes when you don't clean your browser history, it pretty much takes up RAM when you log in next. It's like when you shove crap into the closet. next time you open it you gets flooded :monster:

Also while i think about it, there could also be something wrong with the modem? is the modem for your desktop an internal one?

Sounds like spyware. Do you have any sort of protection along those lines?

Oh, well we did have Ad-Aware but a bunch of stuff got wiped when we had to reformate the computer. Should I redownload?

Ahh. Well I'll go clear that now and see how it goes.

Umm, nope. It's an external that's bundled with the cable.

Try what Terry and I said then report back to us :monster:

Always happy to help a friend in need~

Oh I fixed it. I went into internet tools while I was checking out the browser history, and there was a thing "Check for updated versions of a stored page" and it was on never... when it should have been everytime I visit.

If you have a cable modem, sometimes its a good idea to hit the reset button. One time I had an issue where my net kept shutting off on me. Just thought I had service issues. I once hit the reset button and my net just came back. Haven't had any issues since.

edit: ok problem fixed.
