I'm giving X-2 another go now, but ive already found and noticed things I dislike about it. I've reached Chapter 2 so far and I'll list bad points as I play along.

- Abundance of items. Theres just too many Potions etc. You go back to areas after each Chapter and open up a chest to expect a new and usefull item only to 'Scored Potion x5'!!! I've now got 99 Potions and well over 50 Hi-Potions and Ethers. Not once have I actually used a single one yet....

- Save Sphere healing. This goes for X aswell actually. Why did they do it so that everytime you use a Save Sphere, you automaticly get healed. Its stupid because now its made the traditional 'Tents' absolete and the 'Inns' in the games absolutly useless. It is actually rather tackky.

- The Characters behaviour, especially Rikkus. Annoying to hell. It makes the first Chapter utterly cringeworthy.

- The soundtrack. Yeah so the game is supposed to have a lightheated feel, but some of the music is really tackky and doesnt go with the settings either.

- Setting and Enviroments don't go together. This is for areas mainly added as extentions to older places from X, eg the cave in Zanerkand and the added area to the Manor in Guadosalam. The new places don't seem visualy right compared to the rest of it, like in Guadosalam your in a dingy natural enviroment that spans not only the town outside but inside buildings as well. The new part is all new, totally diffent setting and just doesnt look right. They should have made it more Guadosalam looking. There is many areas in the game that this applys to.

Thays it for now. Will post more as I progress. I'm not going for a 100% completion mind, just doing it because I've never gotten through the entire game before yet im determined to stick it out.

I agree with you about most of the stuff except the items. I don't care if I have 99 everything it's good to know if I need something, I can easily find the nearest chest and open it for a good item.

Yeah but when I go hunting high and low for treasure, it get highly annoying that its 'just' a Potion. Great I already have 99 of them, couldn't I have had a nice Accssesory? (sp? early morning). You would've thought they would have spreaded out the items more to make it more worth while and not so pointless. I've had trips all around Mt.Gagazet that were completly pointless because of such a thing.

Previous FF games it wasn't as easy to find Potions at the start without buying them, and if it was it then you'll probabably be needing them regulary. But there is plenty of healing Magic and Save Spheres around in FF X-2 for you not to need the Potions, so why is there so many pointlessly avalible?

~I agree totally with all the Potions thing. I ran all over trying to find every chest, and ended up with some of those common items. It's so easy to heal, it doesn't really make it a challenge. I usually only use a few items in the entire game.

~The whole Chapters thing, I didn't like at much. I restarted after I'd beaten everything, because I found out I couldn't get a few good things near the end.

~Chocobo Ranch: DX I hate Chocobos, half the time they'd just run away from me, or bring back useless things.

I don't mind the whole Chapters idea. The game is pretty much a cross of FF V, X and Tactics Advance IMO, so structuring it in Chapter was probably the ways to go.

Just finished Chapter 2. Don't like how they are using the Dark Aeons instead of regular or new versions. I always saw that Dark Aeons were possessed by Yu-Yevon (being that red core-like thing they all have in Dark form) but now its just the image of corruption. Which is fine I guess but would have prepherd to fight a new style of Aeon instead of a cheap re-hash.

Some of the missions are quite cringy. And wtf is up with company Promotions and Bride Hunting? why oh why SE, why?

Yeah, I didn't really like the chapter thing either. Makes the whole game turn into this countdown thing. The game was too easy...even the final boss wasn't a match for my characters. It only took me one try to defeat him. =/ Usually with other FF, it'll take me about 3-7 tries.

I don't dislike this game as a whole or anything. There was just a few things that I didn't like.

The only thing I had any kind of problem with was the Chapters. It didn't feel very Final Fantasy-like to me. But in the end, it all comes down to the individual. Everyone likes and dislikes different things. You can't please everyone. You've just got to try to please the majority. When it's all said and done, you can't change how the game turned out, so wouldn't it be better to just try to focus on the things you liked about the game?

FF-X-2 just felt like a highly diluted Final Fantasy and I was really put off by the first chapter. I actually stopped playing it before the 1st chapter was over; I'll try it again later though. I just don't think it has the right to bear the FF name. It wasn't one, if it were I wouldn't have slammed it down so quickly. I know i'm being a bit heavy for someone who hasn't even completed the first chapter but I watch my bro play it and it has nice ideas but just isn't a true FF game.

When I completed X-2 the first time, I felt exactly the same way. But then I went back and tried it again, following a walkthrough. If you just play the chapters and do the essential stuff, it's an awful game. You miss out on a lot of the story. You've really got to go back to every area at every opportunity to be able to fully appreciate the game. Sure, it's different and change is often perceived as bad. But you should look at it in the sense that, yeah, it's different from the usual FF format, but why not just enjoy the changes? Make the most of something that's most likely going to be a one-off. I dislike the whole chapter thing, but it's something different and keeps things fresh. Shouldn't let it stop you from enjoying the game.

I agree. What i especially didnt like about this game was the simple fact that it was X-2...it was the exact same world from X and i got very bored of it before reaching the last chapter. I only completed it just to say that i had. I have never played it since...

This was a wierd one i mean someone said it was diluted, which given the fact that i thought x was diluted in the first place this was even more so. I mean there was very little areas and fmvs. It seems like the programmers one day thought hmm, lets just take that old code an add a bit to it, so spent the rest of the day adding to x and released it. Now i know why there was no ff sequals before. Could have been a hell of a lot more better. Still playable tho jus no where near as good as any other ff.

It kind of ruins the concept of FINAL Fantasy. But then so does all of VII's sequels and prequels.

(Yeah, I know the story about how 1 was created)

what you dislike about the game is not what i care about...

anyhow, you need to have "love" for the Characters before you can like a game... if nobody would've liked Cloud(or any other key character), FFVII would've been a "forgotten" game

i have always carried a love for Yuna, since she's a summoner, and a pretty girl, a nice girl and all, i really like that in a main character, thing is ofc, not many others like that, many want a main character to be like Cloud or Auron for example...
a hero or a leader... Yuna is in fact neither of those, she's just a helpful person, always helping people, getting herself in trouble by doing so

sure she can be seen as a hero after helping those people, and sure she has defeating Sin and Yu Yevon, heroic deeds indeed, but people know that she had 7(or 6?) guardians to help her... as i understand it, Cloud actually destroyed Sephiroth pretty much on himself at the end of FFVII, just as he did in the movie...
but i'm going off-topic...

the game design was different from others, the dress sphere system, only 3 characters, all other FFX's had a rather different system and more characters to choose from, but FFX-2's story doesn't allow this, sure they could've twisted it around, but it would've made it even "worse"(i think it's one of the best games i've ever played)

anyway, no further comments... you get my point

Thing is, I really loved Yuna too. She is one of my favorite FF girls. I didn't like what they did to her character in X-2 though. She became, well kind of annoying. And Rikku got it even worse and I could hardly stand her in X-2. Paine was cool though.

Yuna changed in a good way to be honest, she's still the nice girl, but her outfit is the same, and she got some attitude, in FFX she was totally lost at the least that happened, now she actually can stand up with a bad ass attitude and say, "dude, you're gonna regret you said/did that" or something

in my opinion, that's a great change

i found Rikku didn't change much, only she became, more stupid, in a way of less intelligent, she was still the same girl, but she seemed to have lost all of her knowledge about stuff, ending her up in spouting all kinds of bullshit

but the best change was Brother... hey FF's aren't only about playable characters, ya?
Brother acted stupid when he only knew al bhed, now he's learned english he even more stupid, this change from stupid to even more stupid sure adds a humoristic flavour... but FFX-2 is very different then FFX for a reason, if they were all the same, it'd be boring, and "worse" then it already is,(i thought it was awesome, but i'm very open to changes into a game)

and explain to me when you mean by "annoying"?

ffx-2 was always a pretty shitty game tbh never did realy like it yet me friend praticly completed it 100% yet i couldent be assed to play it thorugh to get the extra dresspheres that i had missed i think x-2 marked the downfull of final fantasy that is happeneing on the most recent ff games
