I didn't see a thread like this so I thought I'd start one.

So, the question: What was the order in which you played each character's story? If you want to give a reason that's fine, but I'm not asking you to.

1) Ventus - I played his story first because I was the most curious about him and why he looked like Roxas and such. I was surprised at how I find his story to be the most interesting.

2) Aqua - I did her story next because after getting halfway through Ven's, I started to wonder just what the Hell was going on with her. And also ( I know this is sad) because I thought she looked good. Yeah, that's right. What guy isn't turned on by blue hair, moderately large breasts, and tight spandex bicycle shorts?

3) Terra - I was most tempted to play as him when I saw all of the trailers but I decided to save him for last. I felt that he was probably the most badass hero out of the whole series. I played everybody's story on Proud Mode the first time through (because I wanted to earn the secret movie quicker) and I was amazed and seriously pissed off by how hard his story was. The final battle took me over an hour to beat because I died so many fucking times.

So, that's pretty much all there is to it.

I've beaten Ventus' story and am working down Terra and Aqua's stories at the same time. I've been working more towards Terra though because of the graphical appeal his keyblades have and the fact he doesn't suck :monster:

Terra- he is slow. but I wouldn't have minded playing it last. his was my favorite
Ven- he was easy. so easy I considered stopping and playing aqua, so that I could end with an easy one
Aqua- hard, especially at the beginning, but by then I didn't really have a choice

because that was the recommended order

I played in the reverse recommended order. (I say played, but i've not finished my last game yet)

I started with Aqua (Proud), who was weak at first but by the end of the game she's a powerhouse.
Then I went with Ven (Critical) who was a little weaker than my Aqua, although that could be because I upped the difficulty.
Then I started a Critical game with Terra, I didn't like how slow he was at first but i'm getting used to it, and he deals decent damage.

I did Terra first cuz he's awesome. Then I did Aqua next, so that Ventus can get Ultima weapon before beating the game. Honestly kinda wish I'd done Aqua first since 2 mirage arena fights require you to beat the game with her.

I'm getting the game today. I heard there are some methods of having to use Aqua to unlock some of the features later found using the other characters. So I'll most likely use her first.

I heard a bit about that, but not much.
Personally I found Aqua to be a great starting character, she's rather weak at first but later on she turns into quite the powerhouse. She was definitely stronger than my Ven when I finished his. Although this may have been the difference in modes.

I have it but haven't played it yet. My friend keeps nagging me to use Terra first (she does not have the game but, with the nerve she's got, she already knows the entire game story.) because apparently he's a really strong character. I can easily adjust to the slightly weak characters that build up to be super strong in the long, since they end up in my party (in other games) the entire gameplay. Chances are that I may start with Aqua though.

I think I know what you mean. I know a guy who never really plays games first and then reads up on them. He always goes to Wikipedia and looks up what's going to happen. It's fucking annoying because he's stupid and can almost NEVER keep his mouth shut about anything. It's sad because he never has an opinion of his own. Everything he says is out of someone else's mouth.

But, I was actually pleased by my decision to play Terra last. He had some serious shit going on for him.

I just went from top to bottom. Terra, Ventus, and Aqua. Although I haven't beaten Aqua mode yet. Still working on her. The reason why I did this was mainly because I thought that's how the story went.

I started with Aqua first, well, generally because of her appearance. That, and the fact that I liked the idea of relying more heavily on magic based attacks during battles. I'm not the type that like to fight up close and personal after all, so it was pretty easy for me to decide who to go with first.

Now, have I mentioned that I don't like close and personal? The next two that I have to choose between fits the bill. So, up comes the next criterion. If I must get close and personal, I must also get away quickly too, because I don't want to stay so close the whole time!

This means Ventus.

The last was Terra. Well, sure, he looked badass, but well, during the tutorial, where you get to spar with all the characters, I realized Terra was frighteningly slow. Because I started on Critical Mode, I was actually slaughtered at the beginning. What the heck. Kinda traumatic, so I decided against using him.

I remember Nomura said way back that ideally we should play as Terra, Ventus and then Aqua, and since I have no will power to think for myself, that's what I went with :monster:

I finished Terra and Ventus' POV and started on Aqua. I think story-wise it flows well enough going that order, and I don't have real issues with the varied gameplay (Terra was my fave to control, but I don't dislike Ventus or Aqua's gameplay).

I first started with Ventus, which was basically easy as he was quite quick. Then I played as Aqua, found her harder to use but then I got used to her half way through the game. I'm playing as Terra now, yet to get any further at the moment.

I went in the same order:
Ventus - Mostly because I wanted to see what was up with him and find the relation to Roxas, But I also heard his was the least engaging or I should say 'deep' story. I thought it was more interesting than they led on myself, I think his story up until the keyblade graveyard was more childish, but that's kinda what he is still, so I had no problem

Aqua - Again Reviews, but they were right, she was the connection between the two that got the gears going. She's one of my favourites now for the series. Though I think the Voice acting could have been done better.

Terra - It did say he had the best and most engaging story line out of the three, so I held off to play him. At first I thought I'd hate him, he seemed a little bland from the other characters perspectives, but ultimately I think he was the best. The ending made me sad and I also Screamed out
_--_--_Spoiler maybe?_--_--_

"Ah-hah! That's why you fight his armour in Final Mix! it makes sense now!

so my order was based on reviews, though I'm glad i did it that way

I played Aqua first, because I thought she'd be useless. I suck with magic, but I had a great time playing as her. Her story wasn't so bad... I kind of felt bad for her. It looked like she felt helpless.

Then I played Terra. Frankly, this dude pissed me off. He was gullible, slow, and... well... him. I don't like his fighting style at all. And come on!
Uh-duh! Of couse Xehanort was tricking him! Even if I hadn't played any of the other KH games, I would have gotten the bad guy vibe from him. Never trust a bald guy. With yellow eyes, no less!

I am now playing as Ventus, because I loved him. I do, I love him! He's cute, and a little naïve. His story is definitely the most interesting so far...

Right now, I'm playing as Aqua. Then I'm going to do Ventus, and then Terra. Even though it may be contrary to how people recommend the order I play it in the understand the storyline better, I just chose the characters in any order I want in order of how awesome I think they are. Haha. But I haven't been able to play with my PSP lately, so Aqua's been in hiatus .

I played as Ventus first, since he did look like Roxas and I wanted to know if that would be explained. Since it really wasn't (although it was a good choice, since you got the major plot line, I think), I moved on to....

Aqua. I played as her since she became a Keyblade Master, and I figured she'd know more about Ventus than Terra. Also, I love magic users moreso than melee, and I made her a pretty decent magic caster, but could hold her own with a Keyblade. When I finished Aqua I moved to...

Terra. I figured he'd be a badass and stuff, and since he was more interconnected to Xehanort over the others I would get more story information on Xehanort and his plan. The twist at the end I was NOT expecting, though, and it ended up being the most fulfilling to me since it connected KHII.

After that I played Final Episode and then Blank Points (since I used Critical Mode for everyone~)

Played through a bit of Aqua's. Couldn't stand Terra's and Ventus' fighting style (when you Link with them) so I really didn't want to do them. Got annoyed with the game then got rid of it. xP I know, kinda stupid. xD
