Personally, I found the variety of characters usable to be awesome. They each had a storyline and what not, the game was long with plenty of side questing. The magic was unique in that you equipped an esper stone and learned magic from them and also could summon them in battle. Just my thoughts on it, but I loved it. FF6 was available for SNES ( as FF3 in america ) and part of Anthology's pack if you're looking for a copy.

FF6 was easily one of the best FF's, it had awesome storyline, great characters, loads of freedom, and you could do alot of things!

Comparing it to DQ8 and modern FF titles, it will come up short graphically (unless you prefer SNES graphics). But the story is awesome, possibly the best in the FF series' history. To many people, this is their favorite for a myriad of reasons (Kefka being a big one).

A better game to compare FFVI to, would be Chrono Trigger. It's visually just as good - you could also compare the graphics to Breath of Fire 2. It's that kind of game - and one of the best.

No. Reading the script would be entertaining at points but without the on-screen characters or an insight into what's happening you won't get all the jokes, history or personalities. I highly recommend this game if you liked FF4, 6 or most of the FFs in general. It's a high quality game. Granted, it is old and the graphics are dated but for sheer fun factor, storyline and gameplay this game has high standards. The characters are varied and fun and the esper system is easy to learn and enjoyable to use. And yes, Kefka pwns. :D
