Y'know, I'm really getting pissed off. It seems that me reviving threads is getting everybody EXCEPT staff members mad or annoyed or whatever. Honestly, what's the problem? Why is everybody getting mad at me for caring about this place? I'm trying to get some type of discussion going in threads. Because visitors can't see the SB, which is where most of the activity is. If they see nothing new or revived thread wise. what's the point in signing up? I actually want new members to join up and stick around. This reviving threads thing is a small part of me wanting to help this community grow and get better. But it seems like a lot of people have a problem with me reviving threads. I'm just so sick of it. If the moderators don't want me to do it, please just tell me to stop, because I will. If I am breaking a rule, please do tell me. I just want to get some discussions going again in actual threads. If I am doing anything wrong, just tell me, moderators.

...Who on earth gets annoyed about you reviving threads? o_O

To be honest, as far as I'm concerned, with things like these you just gotta have that 'fuck off and get a grip' mindset, because you're not here for anyone but yourself, and if you want to post in a thread you're free to do so. People that get annoyed with it should just pay a little more attention to themselves.

You're not doing anything wrong, you're just bringing activity back the way you know how, and it's not like you're spamming. From what I've seen they're legitimate and on-topic posts, so honestly, you have nothing to worry about. If it were the other way around and you're just doing it for post-count reasons and have no real purpose for posting in said thread, then I can understand, I assume that's not what you're doing though, from what I've seen, so...

Basically what Kira said Jeri.

Really when it comes to something like that you have to say "screw it" to the people that get pissed cause you are reviving old threads, because hey you have something to add to it. Doesn't matter if it is 3 months old or 3 years old, I say continue doing it as you want. Who knows, you might say something that no one actually said about it and make people want to read it and post on it again... it has happened many times before.

dont know why anyone would really care

if someone is giving you shit for posting in an old thread, you could always report them for "mini-modding". though, their criticism might be justified if you are posting in a really old thread where someone is asking for a solution. like, old enough that they probably haven't visited the site in a few months. or years. lol.

Anthony, fuck the other people. Do whatever you want. If they truly give a flying fuck about you reviving old threads then well... They should probably find something better to do.

That being said, I don't really know why anyone would care...

on that note, there used to be a rule against reviving old threads. i never really understood why, but there you go. it's not a rule anymore though. :hmmm:

my advice is to man the fuck up.

What...the...hell. How very fucking dare you try POSTING in an internet forum. I mean...honestly :srsly: This is disgraceful behavior :hmph:

:wacky:

You care too much about what other people think about what you do :lew: You are never going to make everyone happy, unfortunately. ...and if some screwfaces are going to come down on you for posting on a forum on the internet (which is pretty much the purpose of a forum in the first place), then I guess that's tough scheisse for them.

Revive every old thread on the forum and make them reeeeeally rage! I bet they'll erupt like a volcano :rage:

........:wacky:

Theres so many threads over the years id love to revive but theyre locked away in the archives. Some hilarious classics in there i tell ya :(

It's posting the same thing on different forums.
So making the same post on FFFaru as one you made on some other FF related forum aru.
It's less applicable to Costa Del Sol.

Slightly more on topic, I am one of the people who have had a problem with the veritable tsunami of necro posting, however, I do not wish to be banned for flmn r trlln, so I will leave it at that.

I personally don't give a shit if people get mad about old threads being revived. If I see a thread that catches my attention I'm going to post on it and join in the discussion. I mean Heaven forbid, damn me to hell for wanting to post on a forum board! Isn't that the purpose of a forum board? To talk and discuss topics? They can get the hell over it IMO.

this thread was made because of me saying "there jerikane goes again" i dont really care but it does probably clog shit up and then bring old embarrassing posts up from 3 years ago no one wants to see

JeriKane1998 you will have to learn to ignore certain people. I personally like older threads to be revived, it provides laughter (lol old posts :ffs:) and it allows me to get active again. So, keep it up, bitch (and that is a term I use with love *points to icon*)

:ryan:

The reason why someone might have a problem with necroposting is either:

a) It's a discussion thread, and the post used to revive the thread does not contribute towards re-opening the discussion (it doesn't attempt to challenge a view currently being agreed upon, nor introduces new views that are not commonly held and thus debatable), it band-wagons on existing opinions.

b) It's a question thread, and the post either ignores potential solutions found in the topic or the forum is a support forum set up in such a way that new questions generate alerts of some description.

In my opinion, these are the only valid reasons. Obviously it's possible the person with a problem is just a knob.

Regardless, some forums have either written or unwritten rules regarding when it's acceptable to necropost or rebooting a discussion (both of which can be minefields if either of those rule sets stipulate differently), and in the case of unwritten rules, it's impossible to know ahead of time.

In both cases, whether it's a mod or a veteran member informing you of written or unwritten rules, it's important to not take it personally. If the post does appear to be a personal attack, then it should be reported to whatever authority is higher (admins if it's a mod post, or mods if it's a veteran member post).

If the person is indeed making a personal attack, they might simply use a thread like this to further spread their bile by calling the person creating the thread an attention whore or in some other way accuse them of attempting to garner sympathy.

the irony behind this thread being so vitriolic towards a harmless statement... get a grip. even more ironic that this is being defended when its even more spammy than 7pt text in the shoutbox
