Can someone inform me as to which and why certain Final Fantasy Titles are now being ported to Xbox One and Switch?

The simple answer is money.
The slightly longer answer is likely that Square has finally worked out a deal with Sony that allows those games to be on competing consoles. Not sure what kind of crazy deals they were doing in the late 90's, but I think they'd made a few deals that were too strict. I see no other reason for why they wouldn't have taken games FFIX and such multiplatform a long time ago.

I see the Switch has gotten Final Fantasy IX... AND THEM HORRID BORDERS STILL REMAIN!
Look how it ruins the very opening of the game! I just wish there was a way to widen the image as a whole to get rid of them, I just can't stand them!
