What's your favourite band?

Ah hmmm my favorite band would have to be:

Linkin Park
Green Day
Avenged Sevenfold
Fallout boy

By now you get the type of music I like.

I used to like Within Temptation but I guess I got bored at the gothic metal and none of the songs were happy, duh.

At the moment I like Guns N' Roses.

Lately I've been listening to slightly more sombre sounding bands,
The Smiths
Joy Division and New Order
The Cure to a certain extent
Nick Drake
Elliott Smith, mostly his From a Basement On a Hill album, which is superb imo.
And Jeff Buckley but I listen to him anyway, not just when I feel like something slightly depressing.

My favourite band is and always has been Led Zeppelin. \m/^_-
There are others I'd consider favourites, but this thread only asks for your most favourite.

Still, to mention just a couple:

Deep Purple
Metallica
Nightwish
AC/DC

I don't necessarily have favorite bands so much as fave songs. But my playlist is like a scrapbook so I attach songs to moments. Never to people. Fuck no. And some songs I like for only two or three lines...I'll specify.

1. The Eagles- Get over it. " I'd like to find your inner child and kick its little ass."

2. DZK- "and your enemies semi-automatic made you laugh like a maniac when he let if off. He ain't a threat at all and when he saw me, all his shit talkin' stopped without his jaw piece."

3. Immortal Technique- The 4th Branch-"The fourth branch of the government, want us to settle
A bandana full of glittering, generality
Fighting for freedom and fighting terror, but what's reality?
Read about the history of the place that we live in
And stop letting corporate news tell lies to your children"

4. Marshall Mathers-"I used to be a loudmouth, remember me? (uh-ah)
I'm the one who burned your house down (oh)
Well I'm out now (shit), and this time I'm comin back to blow your house up
And I ain't gon leave you a window to jump out of!"

5. Carly Simon- Thats the way I've always heard it should be

6. Kenny Chesney- Wild Ride

7. Nappy Roots- Trouble of this world-"I'm coming home home Father, I got no confidants at all, I pray to you cuz I can't bear it all. If I could turn back the clock and do it over again I would, live for my people instead of feeling condemned I would
I'm coming home, Sugar..
can't deal with the stress alone. Know how we sing and dance to carry on? We can do talk shows, but can't set on the couch its like locking us up and not letting us out.."

8. Rich Mullins- Elijah- whole damn song, but mostly..."

This life has shown me how we're mended
And how we're torn
How it's okay to be lonely as long as you're free
Sometimes my ground was stoney
And sometimes covered up with thorns
And only You could make it what it had to be
And now that it's done
Well, if they dressed me like a pauper
Or if they dined me like a prince
If they lay me with my fathers
Or if my ashes scatter on the wind
I don't care

CHORUS:
But when I leave I want to go out like Elijah "

9. Who you are...SO very me...

10. Bright Eyes-"Well the clock's heart it hangs inside its open chest with hands
stretched towards the calendar hanging itself
but I will not weep for those dying days.
For all the ones who've left there's a few that stayed.
And they found me here and pulled me from the grass where I was laid."

11. Wallflowers- Josephine, 6th Avenue Heartache

12. Fiona Apple- Extraordinary Machine, Mistake, Get Gone

13. Air Supply, Stephen Bishop, Ambrosia, Hall & Oats, Michael Jackson...

I haven't plugged this much is almost 3 years. *washes mouth out with soap*

The Strokes.

I remember back when i was like 11-13ish i didn't like music, it was all trashy pop music and rap at the time and i didn't really know of anything else. Then i heard Is This It, and i loved it. It was pure rock music as it should be written and played.
I love the vocals and the general sound of the group.

Most bands from the past eg GNR seemed to be a little cheesey to me, i feel because they add solos in becuase they have to and not cuase they fit the song but the strokes add there solos where they sound right.

They have influenced many bands that i like including the Arctic Monkeys and The Libertines. I think they took the music sence and added more life to it, with out The Strokes i recon music to day would be much poorer.

TBH i think with all of this ''indie disco'' and emo stuff we do need a new band to come along and just blow everyones minds open.

Bring Me The Horizon

When I was a baby, I'd fall asleep in my mother's car while she blasted Def Leppard. I still love Def Leppard, but honestly, I have to say that I love Pink Floyd more. My dad was really the one that got me into Pink Floyd, similarly though parental influence, as I listened to it quite a bit whenever I would travel with him. Plus, Pink Floyd can always make me think, and I can always relax when listening to Comfortably Numb.

(Ian Dury and) The Blockheads (Funk/Jazz)
Aphrodite's Child(Progressive)
Haklik/The Clique(New Wave)
Queen (Classic Rock)
The Police(Reggae/Post-Punk)
Devo(New Wave/Philosophical)
Tears for Fears (New Wave)...

...and all others I've forgotten to mention!!
