When did Squall fall in love with Rinoa?

At the dance ball. Rinoa's determination to keep him dancing made him quickly fall for her. However she left to deal with Forest Owl matters and left Squall heartbroken. When they met again Squall tries to hide it alot because he has a fear of people leaving him because his sis left him when he was really little.

When Rinoa falls into a coma; Squall completely breaks down because he realizes that he took Rinoa for granted and that he can't keep on pushing people away because one day he's going to loose the people that he really cares about.

It's written really badly though and it can look like that Squall only falls for Rinoa when she's in a coma; which confuses and annoy some players.
 
I never thought that he fell in love with her at the ball, to be honest. He obviously looked interested, but for the time it seemed to be that and nothing else.

Seems to me that Squall considered her to be a major pain for a while, I'd go as far as saying that he only started to feel for her strongly mid way through disk 2.
 
He seemed quite sweet with her when they met again in the Forest Owls train, but after he found out about her and Seifer I think he was majorly put off...
 
I would say he fell in love @ the dancehall when he seen her pointing up at the falling star.

I would agree with this. Squall was interested in her at first, but I do think that after spending time with her she really grated on him and I don't think he liked her much at all after their first meeting. I think this had some to do with her personality and naivety and some to do with the fact that he did not want to like her, he didn't want to be emotionally invested in anyone, least of all a girl. Gradually he did fall for her though, but there's I don't think there's any particular point where this happens.

Squall was going through emotional puberty so he did what all little boys in love did and treated the girls they liked as if they were annoying ;)

I agree with this. My first playthough I was totally annoyed with the Squall/Rinoa thing because I just didn't get where it came from...I didn't use Rinoa at all in my party, and you get little hints from the cutscenes within that as to how Squall feels about her. It wasn't til my friend Kriz told me to keep her in my party, and I did so, that I understood that it wasn't a spur of the moment thing
