Dream Zanarkand is a physical place in spira. That's how Sin and Auron were able to Travel there.
My Question is where is it?
I'd imagine it'd be close to Mt. Gagazet because that's where the Fayth are and Dream Zanarkand is a Dream of the Fayth.
But, then I thought shouldn't it be close to Baaj Temple? Sin wouldn't swim that far away just to bring Tidus to Spira.
I'm more in Favor of it being by Mt. Gagazet. I'd think the Fayth would like to Have a Fake Zanarkand by the Real One just for the memories and becuase they wouldn't want to Project their dream that far away.

Where do you think Dream Zanarkand is Located?

I read somewhere that Dream Zanarkand was located far away from the Spira mainland, in the ocean and Sin was created in order to prevent the people of Spira from finding Dream Zanarkand.

But if I were to decided between Gagazet and Baaj Temple, I would say Baaj Temple because it's farther from the main cities like Bevelle, Luca and the towns such as Besaid Island.

I swear it's actually inside sin
When you fight jecht- in the background the city of zanarkand is there

According to Wiki:

"Yevon manifested the city out at sea in an undisclosed location, far removed from the Spiran mainland and the warmongering Bevelle. Furthermore, to prevent technology from allowing Bevelle or anyone else to easily locate his summoned city, and to protect himself while he summoned it, he created a magic armor. Using gravity magic to surround himself with pyreflies, he used them to create an invincible armor that would grip Spira in terror for one thousand years: the monster known as Sin"

I never thought it was an actual place though...

That makes sense. it would also explain how sin managed to suck up Tidus and Auron and place them in spira. and Dark Remnant from the wiki explanation

it sounds like He summoned Dream-Zanarkand and then created sin to surround him and the city...that could just be me though :/

It sounds to me like Yu Yevon created the shell of Sin before creating Dream Zanarkand then merging with it, it also states that he "manifested" the city far out at sea that doesn't necessarily mean that he created the city on the water...here's what I think happened...

Yu Yevon went far out to sea, created the shell of Sin, went inside the shell and created the city inside the shell before finally merging with the shell to create what we know as Sin...that's alot of shells :P

So this states that the city was created in an exact location far away from Spira. It could have been on an island or even floating above the sea.

It's a Dream Zanarkand, still it has physical properties because, like Aeons can touch or even harm people and fiends (which are created by pyreflies) can kill people, then Dream Zanarkand was just a "clone" city of the real Zanarkand.

"Easily locate his summoned city" which proves that the city was much like an aeon, but with the only difference that it served a different purpose and also that it could be found.

"And to protect himself while he summoned it, he created a magic armor"
Which statates that he created Dream Zanarkand before Sin and was summoning the city from the outside.

Yu Yevon was summoning the city, like any normal aeon, and tried to perform another summon: Sin. The necessary mental strength was too much for him and it ended up destroying his sanity.

The necessary mental strength was too much, Yu-Yevon lost his humanity and became much more like a "support" automatic system. Yu-Yevan had no will, no sense of humanity, his only purpose was to sustain Dream Zanarkand as long as he could while sending Sin to protect the city. Sin has been using the same orders since he has been created; to prevent any threats from reaching Dream Zanarkand and to destroy Spira's largest cities (except Bevelle and Luca)

He surrounded "himself" which doesn't necessary means that he surrounded Dream Zanarkand as well.

The point that Sin could actually come back and forth between Spira and Dream Zanarkand doesn't prove that Dream Zanarkand is actually inside of this "armor"

Sin was the only one capable of travelling freely across the Spiran mainland and the nearby seas which is why only Sin could have been the only one able to reach Dream Zanarkand.

The Zanarkand Background behind Jecht/Final Battle:

Jecht lived in Dream Zanarkand and became the next Sin, but it doesn't necessarily proves that the Zanarkand we see behind Jecht is actually Dream Zanarkand.

It could have been an ilusion created by Jecht himself in order to feel like home since he was also a prisoner inside the magical armor known as "Sin". Jecht controls part of Sin's actions but he can't get out of Sin itself.

Also the only part of Zanarkand that it's shown during the final battle was a fragment of the Blitzball Colisseum of Zanarkand. Since Jecht was a Blitzball player himself, this could have been enough reasons for him to simulate part of his past within Sin.

Also, we must remember that before Jecht there have been lots of "guardians" that became Sin. For example Zaon, he was the very first Sin but we never had the chance to actually meet him or know anything about him or his past. We know though that he was Yunalesca's husband and that he was the first one used as the "Final Aeon".

The Final Aeon is actually Sin, and the one that the summoner summoned in order to "destroy" Sin was only a replacement in order to mantain this false story.

But whether if this is true or not, we will never know since Square-Enix has the last word here and knows exactly what the hell is going on inside their games...or at least they are supposed to.

Gabranth is right, it's inside Sin. All the people in Zanarkand fearing annihilation, became faith for that summoning, and Yu Yevon summoned the whole city with all the people living in it. It's original place of origin, was right off of the Zanarkand coast, but once Yu Yevon summoned it, he encased himself in what I would figure to be some sort of Aeon due to the fact that all of the final summonings ultimately became Sin. Then Sin attacked the advancing Bevelle army, and the dream Zanarkand became a giant mobile home.
