I thought you guys here would know best. Since the PS2 is starting to get kind of outdated, I'm having trouble finding certain games because my local game store is just stocking up on the new stuff, like PS3 or x360 games.

Where do you go to find the old stuff? Is there a recommended online store for this? Or should I search a used games bin somewhere and try to get lucky?

I just got my PS2 fixed and really want to get my hands on some games I've missed (like Katamari Damancy and Persona 3:FES).

Any suggestions would be awesome. Cheers!

There are a couple of stores like GameStop and Slackers that still sell old games (sometimes going back to the NES). I don't think all GameStop stores sell old games, though. The one I usually go to only sells current games, but the one I went to most recently sold all old games.

I wouldn't know where to look online, since I don't buy stuff through the internet.

GameStop/EB Games are usually pretty good about that kind of thing. The ones by me all have a decent used game section, especially for PS2, since it's still relatively "new used."

As far as online, I've always had good success with eBay. But it just depends on the market and the rarity of the game you're looking for. And a little bit of luck never hurts.

Happy hunting.

A couple of the games shops near where I live still have loads of old PS2 games (used mostly) although Im guessing they are just trying to clear them out now coz both shops just have a basket and they are flogging the games for like 1 or 2 quid

failing that just try ebay

My local EB Games here in Montreal has like twenty used copies of either the GTA games or a bunch of sports games, nothing worth getting really. I should check it more often then, see if I get lucky one day.

I have a slight internet paranoia when it comes to shopping and credit cards, but I guess I might try eBay once...

Amazon has a pretty nice selection of PS2 games, and if amazon themselves don't have it, you can usually find an Amazon seller who does. I'm usually pretty wary of private sellers, having had several negative experiences with Ebay, but I've never had any problems with private sellers through amazon.

Try Amazon or the Ebay. I actually prefer you try Amazon, but if you have no other choice try the Ebay ;)

I agree with this. In the many, many times I've bought from Amazon, I've only had one problem with a private seller. I've replaced several copies of my FF games (all original black label and in perfect condition) on Amazon and all for pretty reasonable prices.

There are Gamestops everywhere and the selection really depends on the one you go to. I've found some with lots of good games in stock and some with nothing really. If you can find the game on their website, you can check the availability at the stores in your area.

Like many others have said before; Ebay, Amazon, and Gamestop.

I've honestly only bought from ebay about 3-4 times, Amazon once, and Gamestop countless numbers of times, and have so far had no outrageous, groundbreaking issues so far.

But I guess online, it really depends on the buyer. For that, maybe you should just read stuff over and make sure you're looking at what you think you want?

My friends once told me a guy just clicked through the purchasing process on an Xbox 360 on ebay and ended up only getting a box because that's what the seller was selling lulz

Gamestop is a good place to find old PS2 games. There's also this place called Swappers or something (forgot whole name) and it sells really old games, dating all the way to the Sega Genesis if I remember correctly. 'Course, they've got the new stuff too, but this is the only place I know that goes that way back.

It is kind of risky but if you are careful you can get extremely good deals off of craigslist.

I have seen people selling games for a quarter each or selling stuff in bulk like $25 for 25 games.

But like I said craigslist can be really 'iffy' about things but you can usually tell if someone is being shady on there.
