because I've noticed that a lot of people's favorite FFs tend to be the first ones they've played, and there's some sort of inherent imprinting magic involved especially if you're a young kid when you first play it
Haha I think thats true

The first FF game I got was VI which I still haven't completed actually, from there i got the psx games in order and around the same time went backwards and got the classics. So I voted for classics and psx. I did like X and X-2 but (sorry for the lovers) I hated XII as for XIII I have it upstairs but I haven't played it properly yet (I didn't really like what I played but it might grow on me). The films, I didn't really like spirits within or Last Order, AC was alright but not fantastically amazing it just looked flashy.

As for spin-offs I quite liked FF: DoC but I didn't love it, I haven't played crisis core or dissidia, but I like KH but it depends whether we're including that.

AS for online games I haven't played XI although I would like to

Let's see......

I liked FFVI,VII,VIII,IX, X,X-2,XII. In the case of FFVI, it had an excellent story that could not be passed up, despite being considered a legacy installment. The ones that followed had very well developed story content as well, but they brought graphical improvement vastly improved than the one before, which attracted me to them, starting with X, then going back to VII, VIII, then IX. The character development was also very diverse and done well in all of these games.

As well as the spin-offs like Crisis Core and Dirge Of Cerberus. The spin-offs were generally good, although some weren't needed. They did add an okay amount of content to their original installment in the case of Crisis Core and Dirge Of Cerberus. And I am KH fanatic, loving basically everything that series has to offer. The story is powerful and each inclusion into the series is a powerful entry all on its own.

As well as the movie Advent Children and Last Order OVA. Advent Children was a great refresh of FFVII. It was a good enough sequel that pleased who it had to. It did put a little too much emphasis on Cloud and Tifa, but it did it's job. Last Order was a great way for me to learn the backstory of FFVII in depth before playing Crisis Core, which added on to what Last Order. The movie/anime based on the games were generally good, barring Spirits Within, which was quite bad.

The PSX era, I first got into Final Fantasy between FFVII and FFIX, I want to go back and play some of the classics. I've played Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy II for the most part but yet completed and the same goes with Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV...I could ROM V and VI just to finish the era off especially with VI to see what the buzz is.

I like replaying 5-9 a lot more than the newer ones, and just like them better overall. Because of this, I chose PSX

I voted for classic and PSX era. Though technically I'd say that the games that I love are IV-IX. I only consider the rest to be alright and I'm not really a fan of 8 bit RPGs. Though, even though I will never replay it, I do put I up there with IV-IX only for the fact that it started the franchaise.

I do think there needs to be a choice of IV, VI, VII, and X because many people consider those to be the best of the series and some of the best video games ever.

PSX Era and New Millennium. FFVII, VIII and IX are all brilliant in their own special way, I wouldn't change a thing about them (Well, maybe FFVIII) and I love each of them for my own reasons.

FFVII is, and always shall be, my favourite FF game, and I loved it before I knew how much of a hype there was around it.

FFVIII, is the game I originally hated, but grew to love in time. I learned to appreciate this game, and although it is flawed, it is still incredibly fun.

FFIX, it always ranks in my top 3, it's just such a fun game. I love the plot, I love the characters, and I love the battle system. I can't find any major flaws with this game at all.

With the PS2/3 games in the series, I love FFX and FFXIII, while I appreciate FFXII.

FFX was my first FF game, and is in my top 4.

FFXIII, I don't care how much it gets slammed on here, I love it. I love the storyline and the characters, it rectified many of the problems with FFXII.

XII is the FF game I'll always consider as necessary to evolve the series. There are problems with the game - such as the storyline - but, for those who like exploration, it's the perfect FF game.

I can't be doing with the online games. While I appreciate that they bring joy to many, they're not for me. I've never been interested in FFXI, and I'll always be a little bitter that it's a numbered game in the series.

With the classic FF games, FFI-V are pretty hit and miss for me. FFI and FFIV are quite good, but I despise FFII, III and V. FFV is my most hated Final Fantasy game, I've tried so many times to get through it, but it's a whore to play.

FFVI is a near-perfect game, and it's in and out of my top three all the time. I love everything about the game, but FFVI alone isn't enough to make me vote for the Classic Era, even if it's stronger than, say, FFXII.

What's great about the FF series, though, in my opinion, is that in the series there is a game for everyone, from the most casual of players, to those who love classic RPGs. It's such a varied series, and I'll always love hearing everyone's opinion on the games.

PSX era for me. These were the first Final Fantasy games I understood English enough to enjoy, and I think Final Fantasy VII was the first game to introduce a more cinematic story telling approach to the series.

Final Fantasy IV-VI were good too, but lacked the cinematic approach of the later installments, and having played FF VII-IX before taking up the classic Final Fantasies, I found them somewhat lacking graphically. Not only compared to the PSX games, but also compared to other JRPGs released in the same time frame.
