who do you like better squall or seifer?

thats why seifer became ultamecia's lapdog, and as for seifer having ambtions, noooooo, he just wanted to be subservient to a sorceress.

Lorddd, if I had been Quistis I would've socked that sucker right in the mouth. SOO rude
Quistis likes squall then, or at least thinks she does, so she is trying to get him to feel sympathy for her, she isnt too upset by it, plus she knows what squall is like so what does she expect. And all she is doing is burdening squall with even more problems
Squall saves the world, seifer runs off crying after getting continually beaten by squall and co.

Squall was kind of a whiny kid in the beginning who did as ordered
seifer did the same thing.
HEY SQUALL IMA TORTURING YUU. WHAT R SEEDS?????
None of the game revolves around seifer, he isnt even the main antagonist.

however each time Seifer is alone while Squall has two party members.
you do know its a game? the fighting isnt an accurate depiction of how strong they are.
also squall beats seifer when he attacks edea at the end of disc 1.

also squall's distinct personallity distinguishes him from other heroes, he isnt a boring all heroic person, he has flaws but he is still a good guy who saves the world, compared to ima walking cliche seifer, who tries to destroy the world then realises he cant so he runs off to be with fujin and rajin

I'm on the fence for this one...

One the one hand; Squall, a badass fighter, who was a bit too whiny whingy emo kid, who did as ordered and had the odd occaisional freakout. Admittedly he did end up rather cool, but his relationship with Rinoa (*shudders*) turned him away from the number one spot (claimed by Selphie)

However on the other hand, we have Seifer, an initally "cool" kid with his own gang (who SUCKED! but they were still a gang) and a way that made him ooze awesome-ness. His comic relief was helpful in the annoying times too. Plus his take-down of Odin... sah-weet!
But in the end, he transformed into the kind of clingy, hanger-on sycophantical bad guy who got his ass owned everytime by the aforementioned Emo Kid and was basically a parasite for power on the sorceresses.

Therefore, I choose neither.

Seifer is a prick....
due to his wish of becoming "the sorceress's knight" lots of students died and many more lives could have been wasted. I don't know why did he join Edea in her "plans" in the first place....but what he did was wrong. And I still wonder how come he is still alive at the end of the game. What he did should have earned him an execution....I mean...collaborating with the sorceress who wants to take over the world is quite the crime.
Anyway....I think Squall is better. His gunblade is cool, he has a nice limit break list and knows who is evil and who is not(he doesn't join Edea in her conquest). The fact that he is an ass when talking with Quisty makes him look like a moron to me....but at least he is not guilty of killing people...like Seifer is.
Anyway...both have flaws but I prefer Squall.:cookie2:

Why did he join Edea?

Well... he did call her Matron in the beginning, before it was revealed that everyone was an orphan, so its possible he remembered that she was the one who raised them all. But such is never explicitly stated... and that wouldn't really explain why he went over to Adel, and what not.

He joined Ede because Edea has metahuman powers that allow her to do things, such as manipulate Seifer. He didn't want to become her lapdog until she made him want to be her lapdog.
Remember the scene in the TV Station where she talks about his past and how he's still, "A little boy." etc.
She played that fool.

EDIT: And Seifer would've went to Adel, as well, because all Sorceresses would have that ability. He just continually fell for the ploy (I guess..>.>)

No, seifer wants to go, remember he was about to tell squall about his dream then ran off?
and when squall sees him with edea he remembers that, so although its never said, its fairly obvious that being the sorcerer's knight was his dream

This is a tough one alright! There were a lot of things that I found particularly pesky about Squall...But I'm sure that if the roles were reversed, and Seifer was the party leader, I would have found his attitude particularly atrocious as well.

I'm going to say that I dislike Squall's attitude more. After all, he was the party leader, and I thought he was too emotional for the role.

I think seifer was the best because he really tries to get on everyones nerves, unlike squall who just keeps himself to himself which is a bit pathetic really for one the main characters.

Many points have already been made on these two, but, here's my broken-down display of my opinions [I'm stressing this word] on them:

Things I didn't like about Squall:
1. He was very selfish and a loner. Everything was always about him. An example? The scene after Seifer's assumed execution, where he got angry because he didn't want people to talk about him like that after his own death. Your rival was just 'killed,' and your only concern is that you don't want to be talked about in a certain manner? Sorry, didn't win any cool points from me.
2. The 'Secret Area' scene with Quistis pissed me off. He was whining about his 'problems,' but at that point in the game, he didn't have any. So, carrying a 'burden' on top of the 'burden' he didn't even have at that point, made me just stamp a big 'A-HOLE' stamp on his forehead.
3. He had no dreams or aspirations. He was just going with the flow, with no real idea of where he wanted to go.
4. He was annoyingly cynical. Yeah, you were an orphan, but so is most of your school, and they seem to get by just fine.
5. He was reluctant to do just about anything, or he was very easily influenced. Examples:
-Seifer wanted to explore more of Dollet. Zell protests, but Squall readily agrees since he's the 'Squad Leader' and they should follow his orders.
-He's reluctant to save Rinoa, just about every time, but eventually does so in the end.
-He was reluctant to dance, but, did so anyway.
-But I don't WANT to be commander!
Throughout the entire game, it didn't seem like Squall made many of his own decisions, he just seemed to follow the orders of his superiors or friends.

Things I didn't like about Seifer:
1. He was a bit blind and foolish, and seemed entirely set in his ways and his beliefs.
2. He couldn't pass the SeeD Exam, after, what, 5 times? Come on...! Their only assignment, at Dollet, was to beat some pathetic 100 HP soldiers and stand around for a while. If you can't pass an exam while doing THAT, then you're a complete asshat.
3. He had absolutely no respect for authority, which he demonstrated a numerous amount of times.
4. He killed Odin. D= Bastard. Gilgamesh sucked, so bad.
5. He was easily manipulated, at least, we're to assume as much. Feed Rinoa to that Woman-eating Adel? Sure!
6. He didn't have much character development. He was a cocky guy from start to finish.

Things I did like about Squall:
1. Sometimes he could have a few good sarcastic quips. So, it showed that he had some sort of sense of humor, despite how dry it was.
2. When it was necessary, even if he did initially hesitate, he carried out whatever actions had to be done. The car scene to fight Edea, saving Rinoa, commanding the students in Garden, etc.
3. He is incredibly loyal, as he demonstrated when he was being tortured in D-District Prison. He also demonstrated this by seeking out Cid, instead of falling for any of the NORG bullshit. His highest priority then was to save Garden from destruction.
4. He had character development. I may not have liked his personality throughout the entire game, but he did eventually open up to everyone, and became more human.

Things I did like about Seifer:
1. His 3rd-grade insults cracked me up, quite a bit. In FF7, we went from a cursing black man and a hot-head pilot, to a cocky jerk calling people 'chicken wuss.'
2. He had dreams. Romantic dreams, in fact. He at least had some idea of what he wanted out of life, and he pursued it with a vengeance.
3. He eventually sees the flaws in his ways, or so we're to assume, by the end of the game.
4. He does what he wants, always. This may not be great for those around him, but let's face it, the Dollet Exam wouldn't have been anywhere near as fun to play if Seifer didn't want to see and do more.

My final decision:
I liked Seifer more than Squall, simply because Seifer was a -fun- character.

It's a bit hard to relate with a character like Seifer, but he was a necessary element in the game. He was the distractor, the one throwing in a monkey wrench. Squall was perhaps, too realistic for my liking. There's a flip-side to this, since some people like to really relate with characters in role playing games. I only feel that way...if the character I'm relating with is a character I actually enjoy.

I think they are both two sad people who need theraphy so i dislike both of them.

I really did not like Seifer at all or for any reason. I do think he was a very equall opponent to Squall that really helped Squall be a better fighter and stand up for himself more, but as a person or a character, I was not interested in him at all.

Squall at first wasn't a type of character I liked either. After I beat the game I realized his role in the game and the scheme of the story, but he just needed a swift kick in the ass to boost his personality a bit and get him out of his eternal state of melancholy.

Dude, that reminds me. Melancholy Rockit/Holic needs to get back on here...

If, of course, like Seifer a bit more personally, an d I've bolded the reasons above that really stand out to myself. The only thing I will defend is the fact that he did fail the seed exam so many times because he was so hardheaded and sure that his way of doing it was better.

He failed at obeying small simple instructions, but he exceeded in going beyond what he had been told to do and making the mission that much more successful by going to the tower. (And I assume his other exams went in much the same way.)

Squall over Seifer i think for this one, although it is close

Seifer does have that sense of humour and ambition, but in the end i think he ws jst a power hungry jerk

Squall although also a jerk at the start had a good progression through the game in his character and eventually opened up and showed his compasionate side.

Squall for sure.
He was cool and powerful and he was trying to save his garden, not like that "Seifer" who wanted the power only to prove his point!

Squall is one of my favourite characters, plus, Seifer looks kinda like David Bowie... And I don't like David Bowie. :monster:

But seriously, Squall is cooler, and he is SLIGHTLY less mean to Zell. (And if you don't like Zell, just get the hell out of here right now :gmonster:.)

Plus, Squall has a cooler gunblade, an awesome leather jacket and he is pure badass. The only thing that Seifer has over Squall is his 'Chicken Wuss' catchphrase, which is epically awesome IMO. :wacky:

I would say Squall even so I dislike him, why I dislike him? because he always whine that no one care about him and all that.
Seifer was quite annoying and thinking he's the best while he's just a sore loser just like Squall :monster:
