Tetsuya Ogawa.
Bassist and leader of one of the most popular japanese bands ever, L'arc~en~Ciel. He may not be the most popular member of the group, but he by far my favourite. He can also sing & he released some solo-albums.
Right now Its Biffy Clyro. The new album came out a few months ago and i managed to catch them live about 6 weeks back and it was just amazing. The atmosphere was electric and they performed so well. The album has 22 songs on it, which is soooo much. Most albums tend to have maybe like 12 songs on them or something like that. Its like 2 albums in one really. The lead singer simon actually wanted to put more on it aswell.
Another one of my favourite bands have a new album out next month aswell. Ive been listening to a couple songs off of it already and theyre really good. Its a throw back to an earlier album. Theyre last one had a very distinctive and differnt sound which some people wernt sure of. Though i loved it.
Right now though Biffy are top dog right noo
Y'all need to give Don Broco a listen. Been a big fan since their underground days touring Herts and Beds and now they've had a well received debut album and a pretty decent headline tour and alot of radio play; destined for great things by the looks of things!
The National are probably my favourite band, I have listened to one of their albums every few days or so for the past two years. Matt Berninger can inject a lot of emotion into his songs without coming across as maudlin or self-pitying. They write the best lyrics of any musicians I've heard with the possible exception of Elliott Smith.
Pretty much split for me between Jimmy Eat World and Jason Isbell.
JEW have just produced so many great Albums that have served as soundtrack to most of the good bits of my youth and also helped make some of the worse parts better.
Isbell is just such an Amazing singer and songwriter and his songs just have something special in them, that no other songwriter these days manages to include.
I'm gonna assume artist means one person, and not a group. And if that is indeed the case, my answer is none other than Kevin Rudolf. I've been hooked on this fucker since 2009. Ever since WWE used his song "Let It Rock" as the theme for the 2009 Royal Rumble PPV, I went and listened to almost all of his songs, and they're all damn good. "I Made It", "Welcome To The World", even "Don't Give Up" was pretty cool.
They each have a perfect spectrum of talent, and blend all my favorite genres into their songs. (There is a lot of hip hop and electronic that they blend into pop)
Now are we talking about a band, or a singular person? If we're talking singular person, then it's between Thomas Azier or Corey Taylor of Slipknot.
Thomas has an absolutely beautiful voice and I love his music. It's a tie between Angelene and Ghost City for being my favorite song.
Corey Taylor is just a fantastic singer. The man can literally do it all. He can scream, use his normal voice which sounds great, and he can rap. If you've never heard the band called 'Stone Sour' you should check them out. That's his side project that he's the frontman for. Crazy how he can go from a hardcore band like Slipknot, into a band that's at the complete opposite end of the spectrum with Stone Sour.
The man is a legend imo.
