Why "Dark Cloud"?

OK I just finished KHI and I heard too many ppl calling Cloud "Dark Cloud" in KHI but when I played the game there's no such a name for him!!

So why "Dark Cloud"?!

I've never heard anyone call Cloud "Dark Cloud" O.O

But, if someone, somwhere, does call him Dark Cloud it's probabyl because he's darker than his FFVII and AC self. *Shrugs* It's probably a fangirl nickname

Note that upon meeting Cloud initially, he's embraced the darkness in order to become stronger - as Hades demands he fights and kills Hercules.

I can't see any other reason why Cloud would be called such, even if it is a fan-given name.

Ya i have never heard anyone call him that either but maybe (what Aerith said) he had a darker side with that wing and all makes him look more evil? I never noticed it but maybe it was the way he acted in this game compared to the others he has been in.

Yeah, I'm thinking it also had to do with that black demon wing on his left shoulder, and according to wiki, he is "searching for that light he lost." So, enter "Dark Cloud".

It has to be a fan name. It still doesn't make much sense though. Cloud is Cloud. There's only one of him, so why give him a different name?

maybe a different name so they know they're talking about kh cloud 'dark cloud' is easier to say than 'kingdom hearts cloud' i suppose, but only just

I never heard that before, but it could be cuz he has Vincent Valentine's claw and has embraced darkness to get stronger, altho he is different in KH2.

Blame your brother's username.

It's not an official title that he's been given. It's likely just an easier way to describe his new persona in Kingdom Hearts. Given that he'd made a deal with Hades and immersed himself in darkness to win the tournament, it's only expected that he'd earn some form of a similar title.

Personally, I just call him KH Cloud or "actually-somewhat-cool Cloud", since I liked his new look in KH1. It was alot more like something from Disgea and he just looked better, I thought.

My guess would be because of either 1.) When he gave into the darkness, he was made this, but not officially named it, or 2.) fans named him that because of his appearance and what he did. That would be my guess.

It probably started out with a single reference to him as "Dark Cloud" during those months before the release and everybody was gushing over every single leaked image - and thus it entered the realm of fanon. I myself don't use that nickname for him - I actually find it kind of ridiculous.
