Why do people think Kuja gay?

Using dissidia as proof that he's still feminine doesn't mean anything though...
I don't think square would alter his appearance in a new game. All of FFIX's characters were either chibi, feminine, or both. Changing his chibi feminine appearance for Dissidia would ruin his appeal.

But like I said...if Kuja were more realistic (though I doubt they would ever alter his in game looks), he wouldn't seem quite so "girly". I mean come on...even IRL, when you see a guy dressed in drag, it's still blatantly obvious that he's a male...

Does this look like a female?

Not really, but the original sketch from Amano does look female.

I can't see him as an original female though...even that design has a masculine ring to it somehow...probably the armor.

Actually that still looks fairly masculine to me. Just has some feminine features added for effect.
In fact, a lot of Amano's character sketches for Final Fantasy and for things he's done on his own look rather asexual, this is nothing new.

He has somewhat of a femenine figure in the concept sketch, I'll say that, but he's still oustandingly tall it seems...I never pictured him as being...average height...

truly?? wow I never knew that. they're normal sized in dissidia FF right? I saw a screenshot of him and he's not that muscular. still very feminine. even Zidane seemed to have no figure but he looked more like a guy.

As I know in Japan, Kuja was a girl, and now in dissidia FF, wouldn't make sence that in the japanese version he appeared as a guy, but I'm nor sure that he really was a girl in the japanese version.

yeah i use gay all the time. But i dont really mean he's gay. But they draw kuja in gay outfits...i mean gay as in ( <---not straight.

BUT...kuja is one of the koolest characters in the ff series

I've heard of this but never found any decent sources that would suggest. Not even Wikipedia mentions it.

I never thought Kuja was gay more flamboyantly metrosexual than anything else, but then again I kinda think all the genomes look metrosexual.

Actually, now that you mention it, I introduced this game to a friend of mine who got completely addicted. When she started out she was convinced Zidane was a girl. He does look a bit asexual himself, especially in the game where you can't really make out details too much.

Perhaps we could find someone who has played the Japanese version...?

Never thought Kuja was gay.

When Garnet returns to Alexandria and is captured and knocked out to have the Eidolons taken from her, Kuja hits on her numerous times. He makes it very obvious that he would like a one-night-boink-fest with her if he had the chance.

I do not recall any part of the game where Kuja goes ga-ga for a guy...

Lol. That's right. He follows Garnet around saying some nonsense about "she's a beautiful canary!"
I just recently passed the part where he
puts her to sleep with a spell, catches her in his arms and says "she is beautiful, even in sleep."

I never really considered him to be gay because of the reasons above, although it is fairly easy to see why people would make that assumption ---- I mean, based on his appearance in the first place.

It's only the chibi character design. Even in his character artwork, he still looks tall and masculine. He doesn't have a girlish face either, if you ask me; the character design merely portrays him with simple and typical japanese facial features. As for his body in the artwork; notice that his body is nothing but an outline; it's just a simple trace. His concept sketch doesn't portray his body very well at all; it merely dramatizes his outfit.

I just realized what Fralelk said about genomes looking metrosexual.
Now that I think about it...that is true.
I mean...Mikoto and Zidane look like twins...so do all of the genomes on Terra...regardless of gender.

I remember that part when he cast sleep on her saying something like"come to me my sweet darling". that totally convinced me that he's a guy back then. but the first that made me think is when Zidane said "that guy Kuja" earlier in the game.

Mainly because he wears a thong, people get the wrong impression easily nowadays...it could also be said that SE have a tendancy to make female looking male characters
