I spent the better part of 3 hours in the Massif of off the Archyte Steppe just dickin around with monsters and leveling up the Crystarium, and the music just gets you in the mood for cocktails or something.

Its like listening to "fly me to the moon" and the like by old Blue Eyes(Sinatra)

"Fly me to the moonLet me sing among those starsLet me see what spring is likeOn jupiter and marsIn other words, hold my handIn other words, baby kiss meFill my heart with songLet me sing for ever moreYou are all I long forAll I worship and adoreIn other words, please be trueIn other words, I love you"............:wacky:

Meanwhile there's a behemoth eyeing you off down the path lol

Hey, I actually quite enjoyed the music of that area. IMO, it makes that area much easier to tolerate. I'm not really a big fan of that area.

While, I do love Nobuo's stuff, I enjoy the music from 13 since it's new and unique. Up until 13, there really weren't many unique styles of songs in the games. Sure, the chocobo themes are always in a different style of music. But other than that, the only odd ball song that I can think of off the top of my head is Shadow's theme (good ole spaghetti western sound).

The music of that areaa does make you want a cocktale! I imagine it would be something Sazh listens to. XD It definetly makes that particular area tolerable. I love breezing through monsters while battling there ^_^

I would say the music here did suck badly............I'm not pissed off or anything about it.

But it is weird having that music when there is behemoth round the corner.............
Kind of reminded me of old people's music rather than elevator music though..............

@bearsfwd I understand what you mean when you say it kinda reminded you of Shadow's theme..........but this is waayyy too peacfu, whereas Shadow's theme sounds like a badass one!

Its good to know I wasn't the only one who was a bit irritated with the odd music they had in this game. The lounge music wasn't what particularly irritated me, it was the jazz music they played while you played with Vanille and Sazh in the junkyard. I think SE was looking to try something different with all the different music themes...but not all of them were to my personal taste...especially the jazz :mokken:

I feel like every "Plains" area you walk into has similar type music so I wasn't really surprised at the selection. In fact, I barley even noticed it. :8F:

It only really comes to light for me when I take a quick toilet break then come back. Otherwise I'm not in the least bit annoyed or otherwise.

I thought the music was very relaxing and unique compared to the music I usually hear in RPG's.

I vaguely remember it when I leveled up on my 1st play through, I have just landed on pulse so I am sure I will be hearing it soon. The track from the ark has been stuck in my head since i first heard back in May.

The music was generally poor throughout the entire game, although I don't know whether to blame the guy who composed it or Square-Enix themselves. If the guy was employed by Square-Enix at the time [and I think he was] then I can imagine they would want him to produce it towards a certain direction, on the other hand, it's probably just as much down to his style. They needed Uematsu really.

Guy who composed for Final Fantasy XIII.

Uematsu composing for Final Fantasy XIV.

The quality difference between Hamauzu and Uematsu is ridiculous.

Aww boo you guys!!! The music there was rather relaxing, as was the scene!

But yeah, I will admit. I was thrown off when I got to the Yaschas Massif. I still like it though, as I like Bossa Nova. It's on my iPod now.

The Yaschas music reminds me of the lobby music you hear during the day in Spanish hotels, I would find it rather annoying anywhere else than Final Fantasy.

That's true, ha, I'm glad you mentioned this. I felt there was something about it. It reminded of being in an elevator or doctor's clinic or something. It was pleasent but did eventually get to me. I spent a bit of time there was well. I like the music in the game-not all of it is great, but a lot of it suited the mood for me.
