Woman marries herself

That seems weird.

I've never heard of this sort of thing before.

I mean, what would her family and friends have thought when she decided to do this?

It seems a bit pathetic and desperate really.

There are plenty of people out there for everyone. She's obviously just too good for them all it would seem. *sarcasm*

If people can do this sort of thing then I have no idea why the hell it is so hard for gays and the like to get married. At least they're marrying another person!

Well, at least she didn't have to endure the awkwardness of meeting the partner's parents for the first time and vice versa. And at least when she proposed she couldn't receive a "no" for an answer. xD

I've heard people get married to video game characters, so nothing was really going to surprise me either. I recall Adam West marrying his hand on Family Guy and I thought to myself: "Someone is going to try something like this in real life". But the whole thing still sounds relatively pointless to me - not to mention she would have to blow all that money on the occasion.

I suppose the thought of loving yourself above and before others is admirable. Not a lot of people ever do, and it makes for a positive, happier disposition which is always good.

As for the marriage though, I wouldn't say it's something I would ever do simply because I don't understand why. :hmmm: What would its purpose be, other than proclaiming to my friends and family (and everyone I met from then on) that I love myself very, very much? Also, what are the rules on that? That would mean I would never be allowed to date because that would be cheating? I understand what she said on the “It’s too hard to find a man, a good man. Most of them are immature losers.” bit. But I think marrying yourself might be too strong a reaction to that. But maybe I could be wrong. D:

What is the fucking point in marrying yourself. Fucking hell. Some people need a good fucking slap. Why is it even legal? You just shouldn't be able to... I can't even begin to get my head round this one. How can you spend time gettign to know yourself... aw it's fucking stupid. People fucking amaze me sometimes

What if she DID meet a man? Would she be classed as having an affair? What if she wanted to marry him? Would she be commiting bigamy, or would she have to get a divorce... and like, if its amicable, dont you have to have been seperated for 2 years or summat to get it accepted? Owait, she could get divorced because she had an affiair... then what? Divide all her assets, between herself?

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST

No wonder the world is going to shit

Some one shoot me now

Wow, so weird and Ew I don't want to hear about her spending time with herself. This is just odd on so many levels.

I bet she's the rich snobby type too. I wonder how her family feels about it all?

Just goes to show that guys need to become a more honorable bunch than 'playing the game' To get a woman into bed.

So there are still places in the United States where homosexuals can't marry each other or have children together but a woman can marry herself and have children with herself? Something doesn't seem right about that at all.

I agree completely, this makes me absolutely livid.

....will i still get tax reductions if i do this? :monster:

I would honestly like to know this too which would make the whole homosexual thing even more infuriating to be honest. SURE it isn't a pairing between two people but I mean COME ON! If you can marry yourself then there really is no 'sanctity' in marriage and the whole "between a man and a woman" deal is all a rouse made of horseshit...

I disagree with this assessment. Loving yourself above all others is false poetry, and when put into practice, turns you into a conceded douche. In fact, it the reason why the world is the way it is now. They teach these things in grade school so that a student won't go jump off the deep end. It is not something that should be preached or admired.
Name one person who has made a difference in the world by subscribing to 'loving themselves above all others'.

Mm, I see your point. I wrote this two years ago, and I have to agree with you. I did not make sense at all there. :wacky:

It seems legitimate poetically, but when you really think hard about it, it isn't very good wisdom. I guess it is meant to say not to neglect your well-being, but when taking it all the way, it just isn't righteous.

As a Christian, I see that Jesus was completely selfless, and he is the cornerstone for a lot of people's moral compasses. I just figured I'd throw it out there the irony of the statement :)

Liking yourself or even loving yourself to an extent is probably a good thing, some confidence is always good but loving yourself so much that you want to marry yourself...well...it's a bit much hahaha, you've got to be a bit mental to want to do that....

Ehh, I really don't know what to say here. I guess, whatever floats your boat? This does seem really weird and all that stuff. But I guess if that person is happy, it's all cool. I hope her and herself are happily in love with each other and.... Yeah.
