So last night, my husband wanted to play my Last Odyssey game, but then he changed his mind the last minute and put Bully in instead (which I am so thankful for!). So the game tries to load, but kept freezing and we had to restart like 4 or 5 times, but it still kept freezing around the same spot.

So I took out the disc and saw that there are 6 ring lines - my XBox had scratched the disc! Now, we did not even touch the console or moved it even just a little...I know you're not supposed to do that. So why in the hell did it scratch the disc? Even more pressing question, when I play a game here real soon, will it do the same to my other games? I'm afraid to find out...so I guess I'll put in Kung Fu Panda first just in case. >.> But even still, this is really ridiculous. I shouldn't have to 'test' any disc just to see if it gets scratched.

So what should I do? Call Microsoft or Gamestop and have them take a look at it? =/ I've never really dealt with console problems until now. I know my bro-in-law had the ring of death 2 days ago, and he called Microsoft and they'll be replacing his console (not the hard drive) for free...though at first they tried charging him $100 but he started to complain. It'll take about 3-4 weeks until his new console arrive I think.

Anyway, I'm not touching my XBox yet. >.>

Well I've known this to happen before, but instead of writing a too detailed reply, I'll just throw some info at you on MSN. Also remember that you should be able to get a free fix up if it is within 3 years of when it was bought. There are so many bugs with these stupid xboxes, it makes me so mad.

The "circle scratches" are definitely symptomatic of the console moving about while the disc was in motion. I've not heard of a 360 causing those kinds of scratches just sitting still...but there's a first time for everything, I suppose.

If you're going to call someone, though, definitely call Microsoft. They are much better about dealing with these sorts of issues, and normally offer free shipping if a console breaks. You'll likely have to call them and describe the problem...in which case it might be a good idea to toss a few blank CDs into the 360 and see what happens to them.

This same problem happened to me. Is your Xbox in the vertical position? They don't reccomend that you do because the Xbox 360 lacks a mechanism to secure the discs. I would call Xbox support for your problem.

It's quite a common problem, and there's nothing that you can do about it so far as I know. One explanation is that the vibrations from walking around near the Xbox when a disc is in.

ive had the same thing happen to me and i think it might have something to do with your xbox sitting verticle. Mine was standing verticle and it scratched two lines into thedisk: one closer to the inside and a larger one to the outside of the disk.

Maybe call xbox support and tell them about this but if it doesnt affect gameplay just wait till it does and complain the shit out of microsoft lol.:awesome:

I think My halo 3 Mythic disc does not work sometimes because of Xbox scratching the disc but sometimes it jusy works so randomly. When you are in game nothing happens at all. Some of my other games got scratched by my xbox too >_>

Oh man, the amount of games being brought into us is ridic. We as a game company cant do jack shit if its been laser burned. We dont cover that. Sometimes the smallest knock can laserburn a disk or sratch it. XBox 360 disks are very sensertive.
