Warning, spoilers ahead.

First of all, I'd like to say that I feel pretty bad for Xion's character. She was implemented purely to fill up another game, and all memory of her was forgotten afterwards. Organization XIII didn't change their name because that would have been a plot hole - I mean, because Xion wasn't a Nobody. She was yet another version of Sora, made from his memories. She was only there to feed the story.

Now for the Mary-Sue thing.
In the trailers and the summaries, Xion must've come off as a Sue because a lot of the fandom criticised her. Dual wielding Keyblades, getting fairly close to Roxas, Axel and Riku, along with the fact that she's constantly reassured by Axel and Roxas of her importance to them. I think she's a bit too special, but not exactly a Sue.

I think Xion is a pain in the arse and not needed, tbh. She randomly mopes in conversations and is all "You'd do that for me?" about everything. And then she
DIES
, 'tragically' and in the arms of Roxas.

Then Xion is wiped from the record and KHII begins. WTF?

She was one of those characters that was extremely important to the storyline itself, but not so much in the actual game. The game needed to include more of her, other than when they went up to the top of the clock there are only a few times within the actual game I can remember her playing a major role. It seemed like the game was intended to solely focus on Roxas's days an organisation member, but needed to find a storyline somewhere.

It wasn't really 'til the
fight with Axel
and then the
fight with Roxas before she dies
that I really liked her because she seemed to just...be there. In fact, I don't think it was until the last third of the game that I really understood why she was there it all, it was all a bit too complex until they started getting into the nitty gritty as to why she was there - albeit, come the end I did feel sorry for her.

The way she goes is a bit shit mind, I know that she contains Sora's most valuable memories of Kairi but it's a bit drastic having the storyline based around her then all of a sudden going, Sora can have his memories back, you won't remember me. Bye.

She seemed useless as far as KH story goes.Shes forgotten and is never talked about in KH2 sadly, shes more like a fit in then a real nobody. If Xion is ever talked about in another KH game then that would be cool (wont ever happen).

She was burdened with an ill fate. I really felt sorry for her. She was in all aspects of the word, a "Nobody". The way she was implemented, it was as though she never existed. She was just put into the "patch-things-up" game that was 358/2 days. She wasnt even really needed, as all memory of her is gone. She was just a clone of Sora, but I wished that they would have let her become her own person, if only for a while.

I don't think this game was supposed to be a major add on to the grand storyline. I personally think it was mainly just a 'get-to-know-ya' for the Organization members, because in KHII you just ran around slaughtering them all.
They just needed an okay story line to go with it.

But that's also explained in the game. She's never meant to exist in the first place. That's the role she has, she's a puppet. She exists because of Sora's memories.

I didn't really like the character until things started getting explained to me. In fact, I got a bit frustrated with the story around days 150-250 because ti was just the same. Roxas asks a question, Xion mopes and Axel doesn't tell shit.

But I just finished this game tonight, and I thought the ending was excellent. It was actually really sad. The battle with Xion was a very tragic battle and I genuinely felt bad during the scene after you defeat her. Roxas' innocence is just blasted into the frontline and his cluelessness about the entire situation.

I dislike that Riku was the final boss. While i know it makes sense from a story perspective, I think it was a very weak fight overall. Of course you were supposed to kick his ass and all. It just seemed very paltry.

I would have preferred it a lot more if they just left Xion as the final boss. But oh well.

That right there is what I disliked the most about her. She kept moping. She didn't demonstrate assertiveness or anything like that: her qualities weren't very admirable. Xion was just pitiful. They could have done such better things with her character - made her strong and the kind of Nobody where you'd actually feel bad about the fact that they're gone [like with Axel's sacrifice].

I dont like xion a whole lot, she isent anything more then a fake wanabe sora.
She dosent realy do anything but take your keyblade away and lets u use a stick for a mission and shes always so "EMO!!!!!!!!"
Why did they make her like the final boss, they dont even tell you the whole story about her, its boreing.
But kh 358/2 days was still good thanks to roxes!!!!!!!
Hes so awsome! GO ZERO GEAR!!!!!

For most of the game, I saw her more as a plot device rather than a real character. During the trailers and all, like what most assumed, I thought of her as a Sue. I HATE SUES WITH A PASSION, so likewise I disliked her from the start.

When I first played, really, I was indifferent to her. It was only during the end did I begin to feel some sympathy for her character and role in the game all together. I don't exactly like her, but it's not like I hate her either.

To me, she's more tolerable than freaking Kairi.

How can you think that without her there is no sora no any one so what shes a big tool. she was a hard boss and a good character

Seeing the large dislike over a character I myself didn't know much about, I couldn't participate in these "like/dislike" threads, but now having beaten the game tonight, I can say that I do not dislike xion.

At first, she was sort of just...there, but it was really near the end that her role was seen, and what a sad role it was. 358/2 Days' story really choked me up, and it was mostly due to Xion's role.

It's kind of like with Roxas. Both he and Xion ultimately couldn't exist, and it's sad to deny someone their right, and makes it even more sad when there were people wanting the person back. Roxas leaving the Organization was spurred by Xion's "death", and Axel's actions against the Organization were spurred by Roxas' "death" as well. That's why it's sad and meaningful, and when something has meaning, it's hard to dislike. At least that's what I think.

So yeah, I liked her from what little personality I could see and I sympathized with her demise.

Seriously, KH is just one of those games where you make AU fanfiction so that everyone is alright and happy xD

Xion was okay but it was very typical ending for her, i didn't really like how that turned out but Riku as final boss i found very awesome.

Xion was ok, I mean she kept on ditching the organization and we're all supposed to be like oh my god where in the worlds could she be. But they didn't develop her character for us to really care. But the thing I don't get about the whole game is that, how come Roxas cries. He's a nobody, he doesn't have a heart, he doesn't got any emotions. But yet he can cry? Now that's just dumb.

Because Roxas is not your average nobody, he was born under special circumstances and from a very special person. Whether he does actually have a heart is not yet confirmed but I believe it.

Namine' was born under strange circumstances too, thats why she is a witch. And techincally Xion is Sora's second nobody. It just is so confusing sometimes. It was so sad when she sacrificed all of what she was to bring roxas to Riku so sora could wake up

Xion isn't exactly Sora's Nobody, she's more like a blank Nobody that's a template for Roxas's powers. Ironically, Namine is more Sora's Nobody in some ways than Kairi's. Also, I have a whole different thread about the whole Nobodies with emotions thing.

I think the problem is that people aren't reading into the subtlety of the situations. Nowadays, we have this mentality that if it's stated, it's true. That's a good policy, I admit, but to cling to it unquestioningly? What, characters can't lie? They don't have agendas that they need to push? We can't have unreliable narrators?

But enough on that for this topic. About Xion, I don't think that she, herself, was a problem. The problem was more along the lines that the story moves veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slowly. When it does move, it's exciting, & that's why we like Xion towards the end.

Speaking of the ending, I like Riku as the final boss. Xion seems to be shoehorned into the role of the usual RPG final boss. Did we really need some abstract monster with multiple forms? I don't think we did, & I don't think the story properly justified it. From the standpoint of his abilities & the atmosphere of the fight, I much preferred Riku to Xion.

I gotta go on kind of a tangent, here: Where do all of the fans get the idea that Xion went insane at the end of the game? There's absolutely no support of that. Namine told her straight up what was going on & she didn't even blink. She fought Roxas because one of them had to be destroyed & she was taking the fall, not because she actually wanted to kill Roxas. It was pretty obvious, if not from everything leading up to the fight, from all of her shouts of "stop holding back!"

I love Xion, her character goes through so much. Her personality might be a false one, but she is still her own person.

I liked Xion,
Xion is Sora's memories of Kairi, so in a way she is Kairi

and I love Kairi
<3

and Xion got screwed so bad at the end!

I love her for being so brave and doing what she knew was needed of her, even if it totally sucked
