Yet Another Trailer For XIII

How many FFXIII trailers has there been so far anyways? Tbh, I've only seen two...this being one of them, and it was sweet, it is definitely looking like this game will be worth the wait, and the voice actors are actually good too. ^_^

And I really liked the real time battling in FFXII, the battling itself was great, but I liked that it was a bunch of monsters scattered across the map, not just random encounters, I can really get used to this. :D

Well, FFXIII looks to be a legend in the making. Seriously, the game looks incredible. And now that I'm listening more closely, my opinion about the english dub has changed. Now, they sound pretty good.

The battle system looks like a definite upgrade of FFXII and FFX-2's, which is a good thing. Really don't know if I can wait much longer if they keep throwing new trailers in my face. FFXIII just......feels epic.

Yeah, maybe you could get a PS3 for Christmas. :P I just started replaying FFXII, and was reminded of how you have to wait a while of charging time just to execute a simple, ordinary Attack.

I hope FFXIII will be more like Crisis Core in that when you select to attack, you actually attack, and aren't having to charge for several seconds for each attack... >_>'

I literally squee'd the minute I saw the E3 trailer! Now I watch it almost every day--the guy who's subletting his apartment to me has On Demand, so I can watch it from the apartment at any time. It's super-awesomeness has sort of waned a little because of this, but I still love it.

In fact, after a few more views, I could probably quote it word-for-word.

Anyway, if they use the voice actors they used in this trailer, then I think I'll be pretty content. Lightning's definitely fits the type of character she's supposed to be, imo.

Anyway, in case anyone's wondering, the trailer can also be found on the official game website, along with another trailer.
Just thought I'd say it in case anyone was wondering. :)

In a recent article of Game Informer, the writer stated blatantly that he wanted cutscenes to be done away with entirely, and every "cutscene" should allow the player full control. He gave the example of when the plane crashed through the glass in Bioshock near the beginning of the game. Well, from what I've seen in the gameplay trailers, XIII is doing just that. Watch closely and see that actual battles are happening below, and fighting is going on all around in the air as well. This level of interaction is taken for granted at first glance, because the audience is focused on watching Lightning or waiting for the upcoming battle, but if you turn your attention to the background and compare it to that of FFX, FFXII, or even games like Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Killzone 2, you'll see the difference. Simply amazing the attention to detail and the way the cutscenes now flow smoothly into gameplay. I wish the guy who wrote the article had paid attention to some of the trailers, he might have realized his request was becoming a reality.

Now for this specific trailer. The English voice acting is nearly flawless, much better than X and better still than XII. Voiceovers in X's era were a new concept and they were amazing for its time. XII's voiceovers were even better than X's, and now XIII looks to have the best yet. Everyone seems more like a human being than a robot, a great step away from what has plagued video games since their creation. Graphics are top notch, and the gameplay looks to be new and exciting. Of course old themes are being reused, that is human nature. Or, haven't you noticed that we've heard the same hero and villain story since the day we were born? Thankfully we enjoy hearing it again and again, told in different ways.

I'm exuberant over this game. I simply must have more.

It depends on what cutscenes you're referring to, I very much doubt they'll do away with the CGI cutscenes as Square Enix use them to start and end the story fantastically well through emotions and get the story rolling. As for the normal cutscenes, all Square Enix wanted to do was match the graphics with that of CGI cutscenes.

I agree with you, I highly doubt that they will do away with CGI cutscenes because they have their place in Final Fantasy games, but the cutscenes he was referring to were in game cutscenes, like the example of bioshock's plane crash. It appears by what little Square's offered us that XIII will have those brilliant moments, give me a moment and I'll see if I can find the gameplay trailer I was referring to and I'll post it.

How freakin' awesome did that summon look?

Oh that's a thought, summons on that battle system, I think I just peed a little.

Well, as always there is a lot of FMV's or cut scenes.
But they did show some new in game footage and it was very cool.
Well, I DID buy my PS3 mainly for this game, but I still want it more and more each time I see new footage.

I wonder if it is possible to choose the party leader, like in older FFs, because it was shown that the player controls different characters on the map.

It is nice to know that there are already english dub at some parts.
Hope it will come out in europe soon :lew:

BTW, the summoning looks great :)

Oooooooh, who's the kid I wonder that Lighntning is trying to protect reluctantly? A new party member? <thinks of Vaan> I hope not.

Come to think of it, I do see some Final Fantasy VII-XIII connections.

Lightning is obviously a female parallel of Cloud.

That Cocoon woman looks like an inspiration from Sephiroth.

Sazh, like Barret is black and both use guns (except Barret has a gun arm of course).

Team NORA, though probably not your enemies here, give me that Turk vibe due to how they are mostly males with one female in the team.

Both games start off with trains.

The Holy Government and Shinra are both totalitarian in their established cities.

And like what AVALANCHE in VII does, the party in XIII seems to be a form of resistance (also in II, VI and XII in a way)

A man with ponytails= Hojo to me.

I was talking with a friend the other day and we came up with this conclusion.

1. The opening sequences are pretty much the same, beginning on a train and all before they fight guards/soldiers. You have Cloud at the beginning of 7 whom takes everything seriously and Barret is tossing words his way. The opening you have Lightning being all serious whilst Sazh is tossing words her way.

2. Lightning is obviously Cloud.
Snow = Tifa
Sazh = Barret
Vanille = Aerith
I'll elaborate more.

We all know about Lightning so lets leave that one. Snow fights with his fists and seems to have a close relationship with Lightning (or so I've read.) He bands together with Lightning in order to protect Vanille. Kinda like Tifa and Cloud protecting Aerith.. Except Tifa found herself jealous >3 Okay, Szah being Barret for obvious reasons..

Now Oerba Dia Vanille! >=[ I am not happy about this one. I'll use the Final Fantasy Wiki for this.. but here..

"Vanille is an endearing young woman with a relentelssly sunny disposition. Her bright personality gives no hint of the dark resolve that lies within."

hello! Aerith was always smiling, no matter what she kept a strong front. None of this spoke of her turbalent past, she was always good natured and kind... this quote reminds me directly of Aerith and I'm not happy about that at all (Srsly. SE you need to become more original.)

Trailers also show her wearing the robes that the people exiled from Cocoon wear. This is because she is captured by the Sanctum, although she is among those saved by Snow Villiers and Team Nora.

Aerith was always running as the turks continued to try and capture her and she was rescued by Cloud Strife and AVALANCHE. So let's find out a little more.

In battle she wields a foldable staff and concentrates on casting magic spells from the distance, as opposed to the close combat style of Lightning and Snow.

Chyeah, Aerith wasn't much of a fighter either unless you built her up like crazy. She was strong when it came to magic AND she has a rod. (I thought Vanille had a bow and arrow or something though @-@)

Either way, I'm not very happy with the fact that it really does seem so close to FF7. I know they announced it as the new FF7 but come on...

And that chic with long hair really does remind me of Sephiroth/Quistis.
Same as the dude with silver hair, I immediatly was reminded of Loz.

I would not be surprised if Oerba Dia Vanille is stabbed from behind during gameplay. Considering it was one of the most famous deaths to happen.

Okay that's my rant done. :] I could've said more.. but I'm too tired. I'm still going to check this game out though, it looks like it could be fun. ^_^

Phew! For a moment there I thought it was a rant against what I said. But what you said there, Repliica, it's all scarily plausible and true.

I just hope that this possible influence from FFVII does not transform XIII's story into a predictable affair to the VII fans.

And most importantly, no mini-compilations involving several sequels or prequels to XIII, like they did to VII. Can you imagine any XIII-2s or XIII: <insert subtitle>s within the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation??!!

This is SE. So probably...

Tehe, don't worry, it obviously wasn't ^_^

And I agree with you, I just hope that it's not like FF-7. I mean the game was fun to play but SE needs to come up with original ideas in order to keep their fans interested. It's like how I am with Naruto right now, it's just lost all sense of originality for me and I gave up reading/watching it and though it's sad that's what it feels like for FF-13 with me. :ness:

And I can already see the prequels/sequels hitting us like crazy. If it really is the next FF-7 like SE said, then they're going to overkill the series.

*sigh* When will they learn? :ness:

Sadly, SE can only learn once and for all if the worst thing happens to them; when their games (esp. Final Fantasy ones) get so oversaturated and mediocre that no one bothers to buy them anymore- and as a result push the company near bankruptcy. And nowadays, I'm sure you're all aware of how expensive it is to make a single game (especially for PS3), that SE many not have enough of a budget to manage that and plus, they probably wouldn't bother. SE could fade from existence.

So I guess XIII will be the ultimate decisive moment. Will it be a hit or will it die in a pit? Will it be original enough to fish SE out of hot water? Or will it be the final nail in the coffin? I certainly do NOT wish for the latter as I have grown up with the FF games for over 10 years.

A Final Fantasy underachieving financially, won't put Square out of business. Square's a huge publisher and developer these days with many other big selling franchises such as Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, and Tomb Raider just to mention a few. Sure Final Fantasy is still the flagship, and in the unlikely case that Final Fantasy stops selling entirely, it would be a big blow, but it wouldn't be the end of Square. They have enough other succesful IPs to keep the ship afloat.

There's actually another Japanese trailer out that's a little over 7 minutes long and has new footage. I'd give you the link but seeing as I'm on dial up I can't. It shows new gameplay of snow fighting enemies while on the shiva motorcycle, which I thought was pretty amazing.

Hey guys, don't break the bank if you think you need to get a PS3 for this game. It's coming to the 360 as well...

Wow the graphics as expected are really amazing. As far as it relating to somewhat FF7, this could be a good or bad thing. They are different enough though it seems, that its in its own originality (you can usually find similarities in all the FF's between characters). Personality wise though, the characters to seem very different compared to FF7. Except for maybe Lightning?
Sazh seems really funny.
The battle system looks really really good.
If you want to do a more powerful attack, you have to wait longer ( which seems somewhat more fair )

It actually does look a lot like FFX.

The story looks like its gonna be really interesting and hopefully good.
Great graphics, seems like a good story, hopefully this will be big.

I've just seen that new video and I'm pretty impressed ! That's amazing *__*

I don't know for sure if this chapter will be perfect in every point, for sure this looks better than any FF XII !

The woman with the long coat looks like Quistis, who opened Sephiroth's wardrobe and decide to put up something XD and she seems very evil...must be her evil secret twin XD

Do someone notice a connection with the voices of the silver haired guy and the man that says that Snow must be a hero ? They looks like Tidus and Wakka voices !

Or maybe I'm wrong !!!
