Your four heroes of light classes?

Went with a Warrior, White Mage, Black Mage and a Red Mage. Since the Warrior is physical and the Red Mage was both physical and magical, I figured they'd be really useful. Plus I never leave home without a White and Black Mage in my party :D

I went with a Warrior, a Monk, and two Red Mages.
For some reason, I much prefer using two Red Mages to a White Mage and Black Mage. It lets me kill things or pull myself out of tight spots that much faster. Two healers are better than one, after all. The limitation in magic has never really been that big of an issue for me. One thing I've always hated is a White Mage standing idle, or just casting spells because there is nothing else for them to do asides attack for minimal damage. Using two Red Mages means I don't have this problem.

Well my four classes were: Warrior, Monk, White mage and Thief (Named them with random select (PSP).

The classes I chose to use everytime I have played through FF1 is Warrior,Warrior,Thief,White Mage.
I know its not the most orthodox choice of classes to use but I just find the two Warriors power gives the White Mage and Thief that extra bit of cover whilst they work their magic :P

So all in all although its a weird combination it seems to work for me..

.FTR.

My favorite roster was Fighter, Monk, Red Mage(my favorite FF class), and Black Mage. Worked out pretty well. My back up roster would be Fighter, Fighter, White Mage, and Black Mage.

I believe my first party consisted of a Fighter, a White Mage, a Red Mage, and a Thief. Maybe a Monk? I don't know, but it worked out pretty well for me. I remember that there wasn't a Black Mage in it.
I remember buffing up my White Mage in the Chaos fight and going at him with Masamune, just because I could.

I've played and beaten FF1 numerous times, using most of the combinations others have listed. My overall favorite has to be 4 black belts, as it was given a horrid rating on a fan site, so I had to try it out. I was able to beat the game at the lowest level ever for myself, around level 26 IIRC. I am usually in the low 30s before I can make it all the way to the final fight with any other combination. If you haven't tried it, it's rather interesting. Pretty hard at first, but don't forget you don't have to be able to equip items to use them, so I had room for all 3 heal items (2 helms and a staff I think), thors hammer, black shirt, white shirt, bane sword etc. The only real challenge is not having an resurrect ability, but being limited to 99 potions was never really an issue, as my guys rarely got hit :)

I use Fighter, Thief, Red Mage, Black Mage when I play through. I use a Red Mage over a White Mage simply because I feel there aren't enough points where the extra healing power was really needed (I play on the GBA version), and because I like having three charcters who can cast temper to power up the fighter as fast as possible. A lot of the time I've thought that maybe Fighter, Fighter, Red Mage, Black Mage might be better, but the first party set up seems to work really well for me.

I first used Warrior, Thief, White mage and Black mage but i keep getting stuck but then I used Warrior, Monk, Red mage and White mage and i saw a great improvement. I think the monk was the best in the team if he is unarmed he hits very high even higher than warrior so I recommend it.

Me, Me, Me, and Me.

If you think about it, it's not really too far from the truth :D

I think I posted on here already, so I'll tell the ones I'd use if I played it again.

Originally, it was Warrior, Black Mage, Red Mage, White Mage. (I always found Red Mages quite useful despite the bad rap they take)

Now, I would go with Warrior, Black Mage, Red Mage, White Mage.

Wait.. what?

Warrior, Monk, Red Mage, White Mage.

I feel having two poorly defended mages in my party makes them a liability. The RM has better defense and can attack with swords for good damage. I didn't need extremely powerful black magic as my three attackers did more than enough damage without warranting the need for a BM.

I've played two different groups. First time through, my line-up was Monk, Red Mage, White Mage and Black Mage. Second time through I went the 8-Bit route: Fighter, Black Mage, Red Mage, Thief.

When i first played the game i used 3 fighters and a red mage, I was so pissed off when i found out i couldnt use nuke with the red mage. But then again that was my first play through. Recently im using a Fighter, Thief, Black Mage, White Mage. Makes for a much more interesting scenario with the different enemies in the marsh cave. Good times!

I first went with the default party in the PSX: Warrior, Thief, White Mage, and Black Mage, not knowing I can change them. Warrior's a must for me as the primary tank and Excalibur user; Thief's pretty useless in the PSX until it became a Ninja; White Mage's a must for healing and battling undeads; Black Mage's a must for random encounters against large groups.

Then I played Warrior, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage. I loved all the magic here, though. It felt like I could spam magic all day even in Normal Mode.

I have also tried Warrior, Thief, Red Mage and a White Mage; then 2 Warriors, a Red Mage, and a White Mage, this time in the GBA. The Thief became a more dependable attacker in this version, only that I didn't do it all the way to Ninja.

The second party was too costly at first, until it became too boring by the time I reached Sunken Shrine because the Warriors can OHKO enemies all the time, the Red Mage can either OHKO an enemy or blast multiple ones, and I could spam Heals all day.

I'm going to try the following parties:

Warrior, Red Mage, Monk, White Mage
Warrior, Monk, Thief, White Mage
Monk + the three mages
Thief + the three mages

Wish me luck, guys. Thanks for hearing me out.

I played the game twice, and had two different parties.
The first time I chose Warrior, Thief, Monk, and White Mage. This worked out, but I realized that my Monk/Master was very weak at the end, almost as weak physically as the White Mage.
The second time I chose Warrior, Warrior, Warrior, and Red Mage. Honestly, this worked like a charm throughout the entire game. The red mage could learn all of the useful White abilities, except Dia/Diara/Diaga, but that didn't matter because 3 Warriors do excellent damage. I would recommend this to anyone who would like to play the game a second time. If you don't want to be as risky, choose 3 Warriors and a White instead, it should work just as well.
