Clown Prince of Crime
Basically what this thread is going to be about is a game or something leading to a game that sticks in your mind more than any other. This can be anything from hearing about a game or playing a game for the first time. Anything that just fills you with childhood/adulthood bliss and nostalgia.
So mine, My dad was never there for me a lot. My mother and my dad were NEVER actually together so yeah you get the idea. But I did see him around Christmas and things of that sort and one of my best memories pertains to him. At this time the Nintendo 64 was the thing to have and I got one on my birthday 5 months before that. So were all at my house having dinner and talking and I hear my dad in the living room talking to my mom about video games (I have no clue why) and I over hear him say "Yeah you go through all these different dungeons and collect these coins to save this princess who has been kidnapped and you get to ride on a horse and shoot things with a bow" after hearing that statement my 9 year old mind just exploded POOF. I immediately started pestering my dad asking him what the name of the game was and that lead to me discovering one of my favorite games of all time.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
So a few days later my dad invited me to stay with him for a few days at his house. I just remember sitting on his bed watching him play the game getting stuck on a few puzzles and I was just amazed. Then he let me play it. All I remember is getting to the Forest temple and having THE HARDEST TIME in the world with Phantom Ganondorf. Good lord this guy gave me childhood nightmares. I never made it past that dungeon while playing at his house and went home disappointed Then not 2 days later my dad shows up at my house and hands me the game and says its now mine. He passed the triforce onto me
What followed was a long journey of replaying the game to get back to the Forest Temple since for some reason my dad deleted my save file. Followed by the most epic of showdowns between myself and Phantom Ganondorf. Finally beating him im jumping up and down on my bed thinking he was the last boss. Oh was I wrong, and the rest of the game was probably the best time of my early gaming childhood.
SO even if I can say my dad wasn't there for me. He gave me the gift of experiencing what will always be known as one of the greatest games of all time.
Now its your turn FFF!
