out of all the items you can wear or weild as a weapon, it fascinates me to know what equipment your characters wear or weild.

im up to the pharohs (not started) and i wear the Black Mask (headgear), Maximillian (chestplate armour), Golden Amulet, and the Platnium Sword (weapon).....

reason - Zodiac Spear is the best weapon in the game. Grand helm helps bring his strength up. Genji Armor helps out Battle Harness with improved counter rate. Needless to say he is one tough mofo.

Reason - Well I like him like this to go around hunting and complete the beastiary. With the bow he can take down enemies from a distant. Renewing morion adds auto regen so when he does get hit, he'll heal up most likely without having to cure as much. Brave Suit adds Bravery and increases attack. Hermes Sandals add haste.

Fran

Reason - She has a 84 evade like this and she is my main black mage! Pretty much all physical attacks miss. The Jade collar, main Gauche, and Zodiac Escutcheon are to thanks for this. Plus since she is my black mage she has Circlet and lordly robes on.

Reason - We all know this set up (if you don't read on). The masamune + Genji Gloves = crazy combos and I mean crazy. magepower shishak adds some strength bonuses and maximillion just helps out so what the hell.

Ashe

Reason - Well besides the wyrmhero blade everything else was just thrown on. Wyrmhero blade has a great combo rate but since its slow and powerful. I like to keep my genji gloves on masamune.

Reason - again just thrown on there. She is fast, strong, and defense is good. All around nice set up.

At the moment I'm favouring Fran as the leader, with Basch and Ashe

Hmmm I don't quite remember exactly what specific weapon or armour I've equipped my party with, but I usually go with daggers for Vaan, since I like the status effects that they inflict. I switch between blades and rods for Ashe (she is the greatest mage after all). Penelo is equipped with a cat ear hood and haste items + katana and ninja gear - my little speed demon! Basch ends up with axes. Balthier and Fran uses guns and bows, because I'm boring and uncreative like that.

I sometimes wish the weapons were more diverse or had more effects or stat bonuses to them than they have.
