Im replaying 8 again and each time I chose 30 or 40 minutes in order to complete it. First time, to be safe I chose 40 and every other time it was 30.

Ive never used 20 or below and I think I personally should have as I have loads of time left over and I never run from the random battles, so with them added, you would think it takes a while.

Whats your shortest time and longest?
Did you ever run out of time? What happens when you do??

If you run out of time, it affects your score when you finish the SeeD test too, which in turn affects what SeeD rank you start off at.

I used to always choose 40 minutes, but after I got used to it, I always do it in ten. It usually only takes about eight and a half minutes if you level up a little bit before going.

I always choose 10mins and i end up with like less than a minute left on the clock.

I think I chose 10 or 20. Probably 20. I managed to do it, too. Haha. I believe I panicked when I crossed Ifrit, though.

I chose 10 minutes. and then take my time finishing off Ifrit. I wait until about 40 seconds before I actually start doing damage.

i really dont like traning too much at that point in the mage i like to wait untill i have at least 3 charaters so i choose 30 min cause at the begining lvl stuff gets annoying

i chose like 30 mins.
i was wondering why does that have to do with the mission???
I thought that it would be easier if you picked 10 mins.

just guess

I picked 10 minutes since I found out that the lesser time you choose, the more SeeD points you'll get later, which then affects your salary throughout the game. 10 minutes is plenty enough time anyway. You just have to make sure that you train outside the cavern first before you start the mission. That way, you won't have to worry about training your way to Ifrit. Just run from the battles until you reach him.

I’m not sure what happens when you run out of time, never done that before. I'm sure you'll loose a large amount of points toward your final SeeD exam though.

My first time through, I chose 30 minutes and came out with just a little over 15 minutes to spare. My second time through the game, I chose 10 minutes... Only because I had leveled Quistis and Squall up to 100 before entering cavern. Anyway, I think I came out with just a little under 5 minutes to spare.

When time runs out it is game over.

I usually choose 10 minutes. My best time was 17 seconds. If you kill Ifrit when you have 7 seconds or less you'll get 100 points towards your SeeD test.

You really only need about 5-7 minutes, and that is still fighting every monster. If you want a better SeeD score then you need to chose 10 minutes. When you beat Ifrit make sure there are less than 10 seconds on the clock by the time all the dialogue is finished.

10 or 20 minutes and achieved a perfect score in the evaluation. What matters most really is punctuality.

I first choose 30 mins cause it was my first FF game. But I finished it in like 12 minutes or something close.

I always choose 20 because i can't quite beat ifrit in 10 mins, I do get close though but i never train beforehand

As someone has noted out: it's not what time you choose which is important, but to get closest possible to that limit when you've beaten Ifrit.

Remember that using GFs takes a lot of time, so it's probably wisest to only use Shiva with one character and Blizzard-magic with the two others. Ifrit has 1068 HP at Lvl 6 so it's just to count and slow down attacks if you got much time left.

Choose any time, finish with less than 1 minute left -> 70 point on SeeD exam
Choose any time, finish with less than 7 seconds left -> 100 points
Choose 20-40, finish with less than 10 minutes left -> 40 points
Choose 20-40, finish with more than 15 minutes left -> no points

In the end those points will not be important enough to make a difference. You make more than enough salary anyway to be able to spend it all.

(my record is 9,56 since that was the thread's primarly question)

Well, the way I did it was I drew scan from one of those blue bugs outside....I think they were called Bite Bugs? Either that draw from the fishes around the beach area.

Anyways, I used scan on Ifrit and I would knock off some of his health. I kept using scan to check his health. Once his HP is low enough around....30-50HPish, wait for less than 12-10 seconds. Then have Squall or Quistis attack him with their weapons. A bit critical here because you might have bad luck that Ifrit avoids your attack and then game over.

I did say 17 seconds before. Bah, I don't remember what was my timing. Had to be after 20 seconds. >_<

You cant have 3 characters. You cant advance further in the game unless you get Ifrit can you?
