Zidane Immortal

i would say from what garland said, that yes he is immortal. he was the perfect genome after all. that would suck for him though cuase his wifey garnet would die eventually along with the rest of the crew and he would be lonely.

But what about the part of the game where Zidane is a little boy in Lindblum?
You clearly see him as a little kid with Baku, meaning...he did grow up, and just as quickly as any normal human would...

Immortal doesn't mean you don't age. It means you don't ever die or anything associated with dying. You don't ever parish or decay. You don't ever start your path towards death. And even though you're born with cells in your body that die way before the end of your life, your body on a whole is still growing and maturing. Even during the course of Final Fantasy IX he was growing. My guess is that stops around 35-40, when most people's hair begin to gray and fade away. He would still continue to "age" as the calendar years rolled past but people don't just go from live to dead in an instant. Their whole body slowly decays over a long period of time. Everything from hair loss to hearing loss to heart failure. He simply wouldn't have any of those. As time went on, his body would only grow towards perfection and never away from it.

Garland could've taken away Zidane's immortality, just as he did Kuja's. However during the very conversation where Garland told Zidane he was immortal, Kuja entered and booted his ass off a 5,000 story tall platform and then continued to blow up that section of the planet. lol Garland survived... but he definitely wasn't in good shape. There is no way he had the opportunity to revoke the powers that he gave Zidane.

well it doesn't look like there is going to be a sequel for this game so that means were just gonna have to answer the questions for ourselves. as far as im concerned, nothing was done to take away zidane's immortality, so he is still immortal.

In my opinion it's garlands way of getting the last laugh, by giving zidane immortality he grows to see all the people he loved die, everything he fought for will also eventually die but he will always be, and where as kuja he took away the one thing kuja always wanted which lead to kujas greatest fear...dieing alone.

But it doesn't make any sense...
Once your body stops growing at around 20-30, depending on your body and how well you care for it...your body slowly begins to die...
So you're saying that Garland made some kind of gene that reaches an evolutionary peak and never alters? =x

Right, he will keep growing but never begin dying. The parts of him that would normally start to die just wouldn't. He could still contract diseases and whatnot, I suppose. But he wouldn't naturally get any health care problems at all.

Maybe Zidane was suppose to take Garland's place as well as taking Kuja's. And Garland's place was ultimately to make sure that Terra assimilates with Gaia because all of Terra's natural resources had all been diminished. So maybe Garland intended Zidane to take up his job after Terra succesfully assimilated with Gaia, just in case Terra would have to assimilate with another planet in the future, Zidane would be the one that would make sure the flow of souls went smoothly.
