well, the name pretty well explains it all, Zodiark was killed while all charecters were at lvl 66. And i gotta tell you, it felt awesome, HAHAHAHA

Oh I know... definitely the hardest battle in the game. That includes Zodiark. He's a bastard... and that's about the level I beat him at. He's just so incredibly tough... and once you get him down to HP critical he can kill your party with a single attack and then become completely invincible. He's just a real big pain in the ass. I remember beating him and being so damn hyped.

cool it is possible to do it at lv 3 with correct equipment
I hated his darkja attacxk
He dosnt have alot of health though ^_^

Nah, he doesn't. WHen I fought him I got him into HP critical within a few hit... it wasn't anything hard at all... but when he got down there and became immune to everything, even with Dark Masks on, he just raped my party. By the way, neat healing technique... if you have excalibur on a character with a white mask, no need to cure the guy, just have him attack himself if his HP is less that 40% or something.

Yeah want to know something weird...I went back last night when I was looking for ribbons, and I already have Zodiark. What's weird about this? I don't remember getting him. At least not soberly. I've only drank a few times in the past month, and both times I've woken up with my PS2 on in the morning. That's something I totlaly forgot to mention to you just now Aztec; it was on the top of my mind. I went into my bestiary, saw Zodiark's info and was like "WTF mate? I never beat this guy!"

So I went and checked my license board, and sure enough I had him assigned to Basch. Then I went to my Sky Pirates Den and he was in there along with the Belias one you get for getting all 13 Espers. I couldn't beat him sober...but I beat him when I couldn't even remember fighting him...

Please explain.

PS: I GOT ALL 13 ESPERS WOOHOOO!!~@!!@$@#% 111!

Zodiark was a piece of cake indeed, just scathe plus reflect... and if you want to heal your party, curaja or else on him.

I dun understand why everybody say that it's a pain in the ass.

wait, what?you cast reflect on yourself, cast scathe on yourself? or cast reflect on yourself, scathe on him.
and did you say you cast curaja on HIM? that would mean you cast reflect on him.

i wouldn't say the HARDEST, yiazimat is friggen ridiculous, bastard... surrounded by traps.... hehe.

He will constantly cast reflect on him...so the only way to hurt him with magic , is casting scathe on your party reflected, so the scathe will hurt zodiark even if he has reflect, and also the damage will be the double, I mean .. 2 "magic hits "

Talking about curaja , curaga or else...if your party is hurt, and even if you have reflect on them, you just have to cast curaja in the reflected zodiark so your party will be cured :)

that's all.

Oh yes, for the powerful darkja..just equip dark robe that absorbs dark (obviously )...the chances aren`t always for a 100% of success, in fact, is exactly a 50% that the skill hurts you or not ( it depends on luck, but that stat doesn´t increase even if you lvl up )

Haven't gotten to him yet. I'm only around level 52 and I'm trying to take down the mark Fafnir. That guy is tough as hell for me. I can do 9999 with Thundaga and Faith on Ashe and Penelo and Fran can do about 6000 with that but it doesn't even put a dent in his health by the time he uses silencega and sleepga. I tried going crazy with quickenings but that didn't work either. Can't wait to get to Zodiark though.

i made my first and second zodiark attempts today - vaans level 90, ashe is 88, basch is 80, penelo is 60, balthier is 51 and fran is level 50. and he beat me both times - it's when he gets down to his last 20% and that whole reflect/immunity thing.

Plus i had really bad luck - with all 6 charaters having black masks equipped - they only absorbed the darkja attack twice - once per attempt. third attempt will have him beaten though - that'll give me three more people in the sk pirates den - yay!

you know i didn't think zodiark would be a three attempt guy - i mean i beat hell wyrm in one, without leaving to heal at all...

I've bee looking here and it seems there is a technique for bosses that makes everything easy. Thats seems to be using Reflect to bounce stuff around.

I am ridiculously under-leveled but I managed to beat bosses using this technique.

I was just wondering, to those of you who have got further, does this method work indefinitely, or does it not work so well on later bosses?

*PS and apparently it works with Zodiark too...

I have not fought him yet, but it seems my characters might be strong enough. Does anyone know how much hp it has??

you shouldn't need to use that technique - when you have really good gambits you'll find you can just walk to the boss and fight them with physical attacks. The tried and tested technique involves on healer with a ranged weapon (mine has the sagitarius bow), one damage dealer with a two handed sword (or zodiac spear if you got it - i didn't) and one tank - with lure and bubble (give them a one handed sword and a good shield - i use durandal and zodiac escutcheon) - then set your gambits well - i can list the gambits i use - if i remember correctly i didn't use any magi on hell wyrm - behemoth king i did but that was only arise (tip - when fighting behemth king he becomes immune to physical damage, hit him with arise twice and he'll become vulnerable to physical attacks again)

zodiark beaten! it was incredibly close though..and i mean really close, one more attack from him and i don't think i'd have pulled through. that's every esper and every mark except for yiazmat now :)

I haven't got far enough to be a good judge, but I think if it does work, isn't it too easy to kill off absolutely everyone?

could be, i never used reflected magic though - gambits are the way to go.
