ORPG
Name: Zodiarne Ak-Shiran [ Zoe-dee-yarn Ach-she-ran]
Title: Holy Lightning (alignment based)
Alignment: Good
Race: Human-Viera mix. Has the long, rabbit-like ears of the Viera, but are generally male instead of female. Being part Viera, Zodiarne is fleet of foot, and due to his human parentage, he is also highly adaptable. He sports a light, coarse fur of light brown with small white patches that resemble ancient runes. His ears are bright white with black tips, and his hands and feet have the typical claws of normal Viera. The human blood gives him a face that resembles many other humans, but is also, slightly furry. The Viera blood coursing through his veins, in addition to his ears grant him extraordinary hearing capabilities.
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Appearance: Zodiarne stands at about six foot, five inches, without counting his 4 inch long ears. He has a slender build, hiding his true physique under weak-looking form. His main body colour is a tan brown, almost peach, yet like his Viera heritage, his fingers are a dark black. Each of his hands sports five fingers, and each foot has five toes, and his hair and eyes are a snow white colour. The markings along his arms and back resemble the ancient runes from long lost civilizations, and they tend to glow a cyan blue when he taps into his magical potential. Whenever he becomes angry, the runes along his arms turn a deep red and his magic takes on the same colour.
Attire: Zodiarne prefers comfortable clothes that allow him to perform quick and agile movements. His normal wear consists of a green leather pants with a green leather trench-coat and no shirt underneath. His clothes hang slightly loose, to provide optimum comfort and still provide maximum agility. Unlike many of his family, he takes no liking to hats or shoes, as he says that they’re uncomfortable.
His coat sports a very unique design, corresponding of a dragon ridden by an armoured lancer. The design is crafted from mithril and thus has a lustrous shine that is reminiscent of silver. His pants also sport a quicksilver design, dozens of lightning bolts along the legs, arcing from spot to spot, always changing so that they never seem to be in the same spot. In terms of jewelry, he sports only two items, a bright mithril ring on his left middle finger and a gold necklace with a locket containing a quicksilver picture of his family, which changes to show more or less detail, based upon his feelings at the time.
Personality: Zodiarne is a laidback person, tending to travel or do things in his own time. He is extremely polite, even in the face of someone that is very offensive, and he rarely ever loses his temper. His replies are always courteous and he never shies away from a request that he knows he can help with. His Viera nature brings him to be reclusive, but his human heritage causes him to be outgoing, and his human side normally wins out. He feels that he and everyone around him deserves at least some modicum of respect, and as such, he holds politeness in very high standards, being impolite is the one thing that can set his temper off very quickly, especially if the culprit continues to disrespect him. Whenever he gets angry, it’s not just a simple anger, he always goes into a blind rage, even if the cause was someone spitting on his foot (and not apologizing if by accident.)
First Impression: The first thing anyone notices is Zodiarne's ears, which always seem to sway back and forth and twitch insesently. After getting past the distraction of his ears, people find him hard to read, as he typically shows no expression, but after a little prying and a little "bonding" people learn the inner workings of his psyche. Anyone able to accomplish this finds him s a neqarly inseperable friend, and a minor annoyance, as he sometimes talks for hours on end, spontaneously changing the subject.
Strength: Zodiarne is quite strong, despite his scrawny appearance; his best feat of physical strength was puncturing the wall of an airship with an agitated punch. (About 100 damage out of 700 with one punch when calm; 175 out of 700 when angered)
Speed: Zodiarne has a record speed of about 40 kilometers per hour. He is able to dodge many blows, but his agility does have its limits. His attacks are quick and lethal, normally averaging at one swing every 3-5 seconds.
Endurance: Zodiarne has a formidable modicum of stamina, being able to run for a grace period of 5 minutes at full speed, before even reducing his speed, yet it takes 10 minutes before he needs a short rest. On terms of fighting, he can stretch his limits and last for at least 30 minutes before he starts wearing down, but his max never exceeds 45 minutes. An average human swinging a heavy club is typically enough to knock him to the ground, but he quickly regains his feet, but each consequent hit makes it much more difficult, five hits in this manner is normally enough to knock him unconscious for about 10 minutes.
Reflexes: Zodiarne has extremely quick reflexes, and is able to react at almost a moments notice, he once dodged an arrow from only fifty feet, yet he was unable to dodge it fully, and the tip barely grazed his ear. while he may be agile when he's calm, his anger can easily get in the way of his reflexes, and he often become so fixated on killing the focus of his anger that he barely makes the effort to dodge even the slowest punch.
Fighting Style: Zodiarne uses a freestyle swordsmanship that relies upon his quick reactions and precise movements. Against monsters, he uses the “anything goes” tactics, seeing that most monsters have no right to a 100% honourable fight, as many monsters tend to use dirty tricks of their own. Yet, during sparring matches, duels, or death-matches against humanoids capable of honour, he never thinks of resorting to under-handed tricks, unless his opponent does so first.
Weapons: Zodiarne’s favorite weapon is the glaive, whose name is Gungnir. Given to him by his father, this glaive has become his most treasured possession after his village’s destruction. It features a 7 foot long shaft with a one foot long blade with dual-sharpened sides. The blade and shaft are both covered with the same mysterious runes as Zodiarne and they also glow a bright cyan whenever he uses lighting magic. Legend has it that the spear was wielded by a mortal who ascended to god-hood through his ultimate mastery of Lightning magic, and he sends his weapon into the mortal world to find a young hero who may one day rise to legend as a master of Lightning magic. The glaive is also said to become stronger when its wielder has the Draupnir in their possession, the ring the god wore as a mortal, which is said to increase the power of its wielder’s healing magic.
Armour: Wears no armour.
Abilities:
Stunning Strike- A powerful strike that requires Zodiarne to focus Ki into his weapon or hand in order to stun his opponent for an average of 5 seconds. Zodiarne first uses his Ki to focus his eyes and enable his ability to see the enemy’s pressure points, the main requirement for this ability to work. After enhancing his vision, Zodiarne channels Ki into his weapon to strike the opponent in several pressure points that cause a temporary shock to their nervous system, which stuns them. Requires 5% of Zodiarne’s total Ki.
Speed Step- Zodiarne concentrates his Ki into his entire body that lessens his total weight, allowing him to reach extreme speeds. The focusing of his Ki also quickens his mind for the duration, allowing him to cope with the blurring movements he becomes capable of. Whenever he uses this ability, he becomes capable of movements that only range from 3-10 feet, yet he can never go further or shorter than those distances. Requires 5% of Zodiarne’s total Ki.
Ki Blast- Zodiarne concentrates Ki into his palm, which he uses as a focus for the blast that will ensue. When Zodiarne charges enough Ki, generally taking around 3-7 seconds, he releases it in a focused blast that damages enemies and pushes them back around 2-5 feet. Requires 20% of Zodiarne’s total Ki.
Ki Wave- Zodiarne charges Ki into both hands then sets them in a linear placement. He releases all of the built up Ki with a quick spin which releases a blast of Ki in all directions, including directly above him. It takes Zodiarne about 10 seconds to charge up enough Ki to use this ability, and when released it damages and pushes back enemies about 10-15 feet. Requires 45% of Zodiarne’s Ki.
Magic: (all magic is deflectable through the use of either a spell of the same element or a distraction, such as a metal object for lightning spells and a different contact for fire spells)
Lightning:
Lightning Arc- Zodiarne’s birthmarks glow a bright cyan blue, as electrical energy begins to crackle around him. The electricity collects in his raised hand as the air around him begins to heat up from its contact with the energy. He raises his right hand and points towards a single enemy. Three bolts of lightning arc from Zodiarne’s hand in the same fashion as a “return-stroke” lightning bolt, flying into the target and arcing from it into the two closest living organisms. The bolt causes magical damage and leaves the targets in shock, stunning them for around 3 seconds. Requires 5% of Zodiarne’s total mana.
Lightning Step- Zodiarne collects electrical energy from his surroundings and channels it into his center, causing his birthmarks to glow a dark blue. After 5-10 seconds of charging, depending on the target distance, he pushes all of the energy into his feet, launching him straight into the air as fast as a lightning bolt. When he reaches an acceptable height, he arcs across the sky the desired distance in the fashion of “cloud-to-cloud” lightning, and to make it harder for his opponents, he makes multiple lightning bolts travel in different directions, and in lands with a blast of electric energy. The blast arcs outward in a circular fashion, following the shortest trail from it’s beginning to the closest living organism. The lightning arcs along the ground, and only lasts for 5 seconds before dissapating and shocks the target strongly if it hits, dazing it for around 5-10 seconds, or even possibly causing paralysis. Requires 30% of Zodiarne’s mana.
Bolt from the Blue- Zodiarne channels electrical energy into his spear as his runes glow a dark cyan. Lightning begins to arc from his spear to the ground, unearthing small bits of rock and earth with each bolt, which oddly hangs suspended above the ground. When he has charged enough energy, Zodiarne spins the spear, to leave the blade pointed downward, and strike the spear blade into the ground. A few seconds later, electrical energy erupts from the spear, forming a circular pattern on the ground which expands to include any living being within 20 feet. Any living creature caught within the circle floats slightly above the ground and becomes unable to move, yet are arranged in a pentagram figure. Lightning begins to collect beneath each target and once the collected energy become bright enough that in completely illuminates the suspended targets, Zodiarne pulls out his spear and the collected lightning blasts the floating targets, and then arcs from each target to another. The view from above shows a bright flowing pentagram of lightning. Requires 50% of Zodiarne’s mana.
Angered Transformation- When Zodiarne becomes enraged; things start to get really bad for any hostile person around him. The transformation begins as his runes start to glow a deep, blood red. Once the runes begin to pulse, after about 10 seconds, it’s too late to stop him. His body releases all of his mana in the form of high voltage red lightning bolts, which erupt from him as an electrical sphere, damaging anyone within 5 feet of him, whether they be friend or foe. After this, his eyes turn red and his pupils disappear into his blood rage, instantaneously the air around him turns frigid as he collects heat from his surroundings and turns it into mana, fully restoring his entire reserve. The transformation makes him completely disregard defense for pure speed and offense, and he becomes unable to cast lightning or curative magic, yet his fire magic power becomes usable.
Fire-based: (only after Angered Transformation) (Dark-based damage as well as fire)
Darkflame- Zodiarne channels black fire into his hand and forms a fireball as black wisps flow through the runes on his body. He holds forth one hand and a small black orb appears above his palm. The orb quickly grows in size, to about the equivalent of a spherical watermelon, and the black fire is replaced with a crimson flame with faint black wisps coursing through it. The wisps start curling down Zodiarne’s arm as he raises the fireball above his head, and with a quick step he launches the orb towards his foe. The orb speeds towards its target in a spiral flight pattern, zigzagging at certain intervals to confuse the adversary. Once the sphere hits the foe, it explodes in a brilliant flash of blood red fire which singes and scars whatever it touches. Once the fire has completely encircled the target it forms a sphere around the foe that simply melts into the ground like blood. Requires 5% of Zodiarne's mana.
Demonfire Inferno- Black wisps of energy course throughout his body, sliping through his eyes and runes, becoming slightly thicker than when he uses his Darkflame. Hellfire wisps out of his body, spiralling approxiamately 3 inches above the ground. The darkness clouds from his runes in a thick mist and combine with the furious hellfire swirling at his feet, and the whole flame begins to spiral upwards pinnacling about 20 feet above Zodiarne. Anyone who gets within five feet of him at this point is attacked by a small bolt of hellfire, after about 15 seconds, Zodiarne releases the hellfire in a pattern of eight straight lines equidistant from each other racing outward at about the speed of a crossbow bolt. the flames keep a straight line an don't stop until they've reached outwards of 15 feet. Requires 30% of Zodiarne's mana.
Hell’s Odyssey- Zodiarne's temper begins to rise to nearly unforeseeable heights, and the black wisps coursing through his runes grow darker and more malefecent. The dark energies begin to rise out of his body and form tendrils that randomly slash through the surrounding air, followed by comet tails of hellfire following behind the pitch black tips. As he harnesses this raw energy, the tendrils begin to spin upwards around him, moving along his body to become centered in the palm of his out-stretched hand. In the center of the massive vortex forms a small star of pure hellfire, which blazes brighter as his anger rapidly ascends to newer heights. Finally, his anger reaches its ultimate pinnacle and he forms the mass into a giant sword, which he throws into the air to rain hellfire blades upon his foes. The blades streak from the sky, seeking any living creature within 10 feet, including Zodiarne. The blades arc towards the targets and stop in front of them, a single hit dispels the hellfire blade, if they miss the blade, in slashes at the foe or tries to stab them. Takes 30 seconds to charge up, and 15 to release the blades. Requires 75% of Zodiarne's mana. and 1/4 his hp.
Infernal Rage- As his the furious energies of his rage begin to calm, all of the stored energy in his body begins to bubble forth from his inner reserves, wailing with a need to be released in one huge burst. The power of those energies begins to manifest itself in horrendous, flaming winds that revolve around Zodiarne, like the winds of a hurricane, tendrils of hellfire arcing outward like lightning, spiraling into any hostile forces near him. In a final uprising of tremendous power, Zodiarne unleashes half of his remaining life-force, and all of his remaining magic in one gigantic explosion, leaving him free of his rage and severely weakened by the force of his final offensive measure. Requires at least 1% of Zodiarne’s mana and half of his remaining health.
Curative: (usable on others at the expenditure of twice the mana cost, or 99% mana for regeneration)
Cure Minor Wounds- Zodiarne calls forth the benevolent energies of the universe, which flows into him as a bright white light, which is reflected by his runes shining white light. HE focuses the energy into the scratches and cuts that dot his body, spurring them to repair the bonds of his flesh, effectively doubling his natural rate of healing. With a small utterance, his wounds begin to knit themselves together, larger wounds only decreasing in size through this spell’s usage. Requires 5% of Zodiarne’s mana. (10% when used on others)
Cure Severe Wounds- Zodiarne urges large amounts of celestial energy into his body, causing his runes to glow even brighter. He forces the collected energy into his worst wounds, knitting together still attached flesh, from minor scratches, to an arm hanging by a small strip of muscle cord, almost any wound is repairable through this spell’s use. Requires 25% of Zodiarne’s mana. (50% on other)
Regenerate- Zodiarne conjures forth the most potent energies of the universe, coalescing them into a pure magical force whose healing capabilities are nearly unmatched. This spell has the power to regrow limbs, fix any form of internal damage. and even bring back organisms from the brink of death. The power to use this spell is a blessing upon him, as it automatically casts itself the first time he dies. This uses 75% of Zodiarne's mana, or reduces him to 1% mana when revived. (99% mana on others)
History: Zodiarne’s parents were outcasts, due to their incredible natural talent with lightning magic and their inability to control it. As his mother gave birth to him, she let out a painful scream which called forth a powerful lightning bolt, which instantly killed her and severely wounded his father. Zodiarne was unharmed by the blast of electrical energy, the runes covering his body glowing a gentle cyan as his wounded father caressed the crying infant in his arms. The man traveled to a nearby village, passing out from exhaustion as he reached the gate, holding the child close to him to protect him from the harsh elements of the dreadful storm. At dawn, as the villagers awoke from their peaceful sleep, they found the man and his child at the village entrance, the infant curled close to his barely breathing father, fighting for the little warmth that promised life to the newborn. With a stir, his father woke and handed the infant to the village elder, begging him to raise the child as his own. The elder agreed, and the man passed away with a calm smile on his face and the burden lifted from his heart.
Almost nineteen years later, after Zodiarne had finished his apprentice-ship under the village hunters, learning to wield a naginata, whose use came to him as naturally as walking. Then, on the eve of his nineteenth birthday, a storm of immense proportions occurred, one with winds that tore at the houses and ripped cloth from anyone foolish enough to venture outside. The rain came in relentless sheets which hid a person’s nose from their own view and the lightning came in bursts so glorious and frightening that it was as if the world was ending. Yet, Zodiarne felt a call to venture out into the violent storm, to traverse the yard towards the village square and raise his arms to the raging skies and call forth the fury of the tempest into him. And, in a trance-like state, he found himself following the call, his guardian, the village elder, pulled and called at him to stop and return to the safety of the home, but Zodiarne was unable to stop himself, he willed himself to stop, but his legs were answering to a higher power and he soon found himself in the center of the village. As he raised his arms toward the raging tumult of cloud, the rain began to stop, and the entire village peered meekly out of their windows toward the young man as he seemed to worship the whirling frenzy above him. Then, as if the storm could hold its temper no longer, it unleashed flurries of lightning bolts around Zodiarne. The bolts spiraled around the boy, getting closer and closer with every blast until finally, a large congregation of lightning struck two feet in front of him, temporarily blinding the entire village. As the sight returned to the villagers, they saw a rune-covered naginata imbedded in the ground before Zodiarne. He grasped he weapon and raised it from its resting spot, speaking the name, “Gungnir”, and almost instantly, the clouds rushed away, allowing the light to shine upon the young man and his new weapon. Then, with a nod to every house of the village, and a farewell to the elder, he disappeared in a flash of light and a rumble of thunder, finding himself within a forest, the earth scorched around his feet and the light shining slightly among the boughs of the trees.

In a final uprising of tremendous power, Zodiarne unleashes half of his remaining life-force, and all of his remaining magic in one gigantic explosion, leaving him free of his rage and severely weakened by the force of his final offensive measure.
