If you held off on purchasing Final Fantasy XV in the event that a "complete" edition would eventually emerge, your patience will soon be rewarded. Square Enix have announced Final Fantasy XV Royal Edition, an update over the base game with over 20 add-ons and DLC. Interestingly, both the Royal Edition and Windows Edition will feature an expanded map of Insomnia with new enemies and sidequests, and even a first-person camera mode.

What you can expect to see from these two new versions of the game:

T’is the month before Christmas, and all through the forum,
Not a member is posting, not even without decorum;
Yet members still log in and observe with care,
In hopes that FFF activities soon will be there;
The members are busy or bored with their kind;
While visions of moogle murderers dance in their minds…

“What?!”

Sir Mogathon Pomcroft, the disgraced 9th Earl of Mogton, yells from his prison cell.

“May I not compose a satirical poem about the place which condemned me to rot for the minor and rather trivial offence of committing a murder, kup-O?”

The condemned moogle looks out of his prison cell window overlooking a dreamy, snowy landscape. A rolling tear warms his cheek before freezing and sticking to his fur. His pathetic sigh is sharply invaded by a...

FFF Mythology Manual: Faris

FFF Mythology Manual - Faris: The Cross-dressed Captain.
Pirates Ahoy! Contextualising Piracy.

When the player encounters Captain Faris and her crew in FFV, it is immediately evident that she is a pirate; Faris possesses many of the signifiers which usually express 'pirate' in popular culture.

Like most classic-era Final Fantasy characters, there are conflicting representations of Faris: her character artwork designed by Yoshitaka Amano (blonde and wearing a long ornamental black coat) and her in-game sprite (purple hair and green clothing). Faris' Amano appearance is preferred for the cinematic segments introduced in FF Anthology, but her sprite form is chosen for her World of Final Fantasy counterpart; both representations adhere to popular perceptions of piracy.

Square Enix have released the official trailer for the second paid DLC for last year's Final Fantasy XV. Episode Prompto is due on the 27th of this month and will naturally focus on Prompto in a more story-driven third-person shooter experience combined with light stealth elements. Naturally, the trailer will reveal spoiler elements, plus a certain supporting character who is about to make a very welcome return.

KupoCon Pomingham Palace (London 2018) SOLD OUT in 24 Hours!
If you blinked yesterday then you likely missed it!

There was a massive rush on tickets for KupoCon’s second London event (named Pomingham Palace) which is to take place on February 3rd, 2018. Tickets went live for purchase at 2:00 pm GMT and the majority of tickets sold within a number of hours after a feeding frenzy by fans.

24 hours later and ALL tickets were sold.

Firstly, KupoCon should be congratulated for a sell-out which is absolutely deserved. KupoCon far exceeded the expectations of Final Fantasy fans attending the first two events. High interest for Pomingham Palace is no surprise at all, but the speed at which the tickets were sold is absolutely mind-bending! We hope this shall serve as a confidence boost which can lead to many more...

We've had a sneak preview of this song during the Frankfurt Fanfest back in February and now here is the full version of the "Revolutions" theme song for FFXIV's upcoming second expansion. Like with "Dragonsong" two years prior, it is in AMV form with footage from the expansion's main scenario itself, so for players who have yet to complete the main scenario up to this point or are averse to spoilers in general, bear this in mind. As has become traditional, Nobuo Uematsu and Susan Calloway returned to lend their talents once again, respectively as the song's composer and the vocalist.

We are holding a very brief and select MogShop sale for Easter (lasting Easter Sunday and Monday). While short, this sale is extremely generous so feel free to take advantage of it!

*Worried that you still can't afford any of that? Submit a video (via Youtube, etc) of yourself singing the Pa-paya song from FFXIV and you will be granted 15 CT.

The usual restriction of two Chocobo Eggs being in stock at any one time has been lifted for this event only.

Happy Easter!

KupoCon, Mind the Pom: A write-up
  • 1,241

A little over a week ago the KupoCon event in London (named Mind the Pom) proved to be a huge success.

I figured that a write-up of the experience is very important as I truly believe that every Final Fantasy fan needs to seriously consider letting KupoCon into their lives.

If for some reason you still aren’t sure what KupoCon is by now then check out the main thread (here), and the KupoCon website (here).

To be brief, KupoCon is an unofficial Final Fantasy fan gathering and not a convention in a conventional sense. At Mind the Pom there were artist and fan merchandise stalls, magnificent cosplayers, and there were special guests. Other than that KupoCon was self-aware that it was more of a Final Fantasy themed party than a standard convention… And it was great!

FFXV: A New Empire announced for mobiles; made by Game of War developers

No, this is not an April Fool's joke, though you're forgiven for initially thinking it is. I certainly did.

Game of War developer Machine Zone has been developing what is purportedly a Final Fantasy XV mobile MMO. With the Californian studio's claim to fame (and riches) being primarily Game of War, it's perhaps unsurprising that their take on FFXV looks like erm...Game of War? It essentially looks like a browser game where you build a town, upgrade it, send out armies and have garrisons on standby to push back against invaders who dare to march into your proud metropolis.
FFVII Remake: combat will be action-based and players can choose to use cover

Someone at Square Enix has let Nomura out of the office for a brief moment to allow him to say a couple of (brief) things about the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake to Weekly Famitsu magazine. The battles in the game will indeed be action-based, rather than the familiar command-based ATB system that fans are likely familiar with. In addition, cover will be a seamless affair. If players choose, Cloud can dash behind cover as a tactical manoeuvre.
FFXIV Stormblood: Samurai revealed, Othard is the new setting and new trailer from Fanfest
  • 4,211

What a twist! Yoshi-P strung us along, instilling in everyone the belief that Stormblood, FFXIV's second expansion, will solely take place in the region surrounding imperial-controlled Ala Mhigo. With the Frankfurt Fanfest keynote wrapped up, it would appear that the bulk of the expansion will instead take place in the Far East, far away from Eorzea and in the land of Othard. If we're going to try and liberate Ala Mhigo, we may as well try our hand at liberating Doma from the very same oppressors too? With its Edo-era architecture and sprawling landscapes inspired by oriental lands from centuries ago, it is more than apt given the very distinct Far East theme that the second new job revealed for Stormblood to accompany Red Mage will beSamurai.
